What was a Yorkville Police car doing on Oriskany Blvd in Utica in the first place?
According to the police reports, the police vehicle was travelling west ( thats going back to Yorkville from where?)
When the newspaper released the name of the driver as Ben Rotundo,( who lives in Frankfort )it began to make sense.
Perhaps Officer Rotundo went home to Frankfort with his Yorkville police car and was returning back to Yorkville through the City of Utica when he was involved in the acident which appears to be his fault.
It wouldn't be the first time any police cruiser was out of their zone, post or patrol area.
So, do Yorkville tax payers get to pay for this one?

So, tell us the truth!
Why was Benny Rotundo ( on duty in a Yorkville car )
coming from Frankfort ( his residence )
driving through Utica ( out of his patrol area )
involved in an accident ( appears to be his fault )
as he was trying to get back to Yorkville ( where he should have been patroling )
What is the outcome of the investigation?

Yorkville Police Officers get to take home their cars at the end of the shift. He was most likely driving to Yorkville to START work.

Why would Yorkville do that?
NYSP and UPD patrolmen don't.
(except for certain rank and investigators)
Now Yorkville taxpayers gets to flip the bill
since it looks like it was his fault.
Yorkville residents should look into this!

Yorkville PD officers DO NOT bring the patrol cars home. He WAS at his residence in Frankfort and was trying to get back to Yorkville when he struck the other vehicle.

So , Yorkville residents get to flip the bill?
Patrolman Rotundo should lose some time and or money on the accident since it was his fault.

If it was me, I'm sure one of my supervisors who have taken a few days of vacation away or even a few days pay.
Patrolman Rotundo screwed up and should be held accountable for his stupidity!

It cost Sheriff Dan Middaugh,$300 for his accident,
How much is it going to cost Ptlm Rotundo for his accident? It WAS his fault

Dear Man in Blue, when your mother smacked my car, she said she was sorry, her insurance pd for my car's damage and that was that. Why would he have to pay a fine and your mother didn't. If you are so "Blue" go else where, quit with your ignorance.

Oh, not another IGNORANT Lady in White,
Well here goes, READ Saturdays Utica O-D
( if you can read )
Sheriff Dan Middaugh imposed a fine against himself for an accident which was his fault.
(regardless of who investigated it )
Since they are an accredited police agency, some rule, regulation, policy and opr proceedure was violated.
( which he admitted to )
Now back to Patrolman Rotundo who was on duty in a Yorkvile patrol vehicle,
(which is supposed to be patrolling Yorkville, not riding through Utica, coming back from Frankfort, which ISNT even in Oneida County )
He was at fault in the accident.
Tax payers will be paying for the damage to both the Village police cruiser and the other vehicle.
It would only be appropriate that Patrolman Rotundo be accessed some monetary punishment for his involvement.
All police agencies do it, from the most professional (NYSP) to the least professional
( Village of Frankfort PD )
The police supervisors can take both money and/or vacation time away from that officer.
He is NOT above the law.

The accident was investigated by an independent police department (UPD) and the other driver was put at fault and issued a ticket. As for the reason Officer Rotundo was out of the village, just ask the Mayor and he will tell you.

I KNOW for a fact that Officer Rotundo had PERMISSION from his superior to leave his zone to go home and get his MEDICINE and return to his zone which he was doing. For all of you IDIOTS that don't read, the TRUTH is that the other vehicle was at fault! Not Officer Rotundo. HE had the right of way, the other vehicle turned in front of him against a RED light. Don't run your mouths until you have all the facts straight.
