I agree with all of you, but I don't blame your Mr. Baldwin for Levine's loss. I have only infrequently heard his name and have not heard that he has any major influence in the town. There is an election every year and the candidates running have to be lucky enough to be on the ballot in a good year for their party. This was not a good year for Democrats. If Levine ran with Obama, he would have been the leading vote getter for sure. This year, he was forced to share the ticket with the worst governor in our state's history and baby Levine got thrown out with the democrats bathwater. Levine didn't lose by too many notes and my money is bet on a successful comeback for him down the road. He's only about 50.

He was good and should have won? Maybe if you spent some time saying that instead of bashing him every chance you got, He WOULD HAVE. You lose. I guess it's all about being an attention grabber, isn't it mr Baldwin??

true, i bashed marc levine, but not every time. i bashed him when he acted like an idiot such as setting up the far right "people" group which i considered a fringe racist group..i bashed him when he made idiotic statements against the latino population which he apologized for.. i also publicly praised him when he did things which benefited the public.. this is my god given right..i will continue to do this and there is no way that you can stop me.. so get over it

thank you for your post..i feel no way responsible for levine's defeat..i have no influence, not even at home..even my cats don't pay any attention to me..i have no power and don't want any..i just express my opinion and let the chips fall where they may..i usually get more opposition than support, which is alright by me..every one should express themselves whether it is popular or not..if you have to take a little heat, so be it..........tom

I was still living in town when Levine started the PEOPLE group and was not interested in attending the first meeting. Frank Gibson was there and told me Levine ran a good meeting until some kooks from the New York showed up to disrupt it. Frank said Levine's goal was to expain to the residents how to peacefully oppose illegal immigration by writing Congress and understanding how laws work. Maybe, there were others there who had a different idea. As I recall, Levine dropped off the board and not too many people showed up at those meetings after that. I do not think Mark was anything more than a guy who disagreed with illegal immigration and it was his right to do so. He wouldn't be the first to think that way.

Fallen leader. I really do not think that any of this past history lead to Levine's loss. I really just think that he got caught up in the anti-democrat mood and mainly the most rabid GOP supporters aimed their arrows at him. He was one of the more outspoken democrat leaders on the council. Without him, there is no energy in Borough Hall. Had there been a better candidate than Miller running together with Newman, Shutzer surely would have joined Levine on the sidelines. I just don't see the GOP holding on to Newman's seat or gaining any more. When things return to normal Levine should consider giving it another try.

Phil,

I think people took a shot with Newman. He is young, well spoken and something new in town. Marc served freehold and did a good job and i agree he fell into the pro-christie area. be thankful miller didnt win, he would hav distroyed this town. Newman will be a one term canidate, end of story. The dems will get his seat back in a few years

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Libra

Believe it or not, 2010 is almost round the corner. Start thinking about what you want to achieve next year. If that means admitting defeat in some projects that you tried and failed to launch this year, then so be it. Mercury turns today in your house of endings, so confusion from the past may be resolved in coming weeks. Onwards and upwards!
