The wind does not affect structure fires? Ask firemen from Baltimore City if the wind played any part in spreading fire during 2 four alarm fires happening at the same time. I am sure their answer will be different.

"Fire police on the scene said the weather played no part in the blaze and there was little chance of the fire spreading. Typically, hot dry winds may spread brushfires but structure fires are unaffected, they said."

I hope this quote was taken out of context. If not, these people are idiots and shouldn't have anything to do with a fire department. The previous poster is correct. The BCFD just battled a second four alarm fire due to embers blown from another fire. Baltimore is the most fire active City in the country. I would think they know what they are talking about. Those guys are paid professionals and they handle more fires in a month than many volunteers around here would handle in a career.

These guys are volunteers. They are NOT paid. So the media wrote something out of context. Give the guys a break you freaking armchair fire fighter.
