What I want to know is did the nurse change her gloves after each student. All we need is for someone to pick up something else while getting a needed vaccine.

Further - did the vaccine they receive contain thimerosal ( mercury), or was it the non - mercury vaccine.

Additionally, I would like a follow up on the students who received these shots and if there were any reactions or issues due to the vaccine. Guillain-Barre syndrome was a major problem in the 70s with the swine flu vaccine and can be an issue with any flu shot.

This is all information that should be readily available to those giving their children these shots.

If the parent's had a concern if the vaccine was mercury free-maybe they should ask prior to signing their child up to be vaccinated in addition to checking with the facility giving the vaccination what their infection control policy is regarding the changing of gloves between patients-simple solution to the problem. Secondly, there is a system called VAERS (vaccine adverse effect report system) in place to track any sort of adverse reaction to any vaccination-not just H1N1.

Not to mention almost 30 years of technological advances that would hopefully eliminate whatever happened in the 70's.

This Vaers site is a joke. First off, it is not easy to maneuver through, continually gives you "over limit" messages, and thus you end up with no statistics.

The schools should be giving the parents facts on the vaccine. A lot of parents do not even know about Guillain-Barre syndrome or thimerosal (mercury) and other risks associated with this or other vaccines. The media and government has scared everyone into thinking we are all going to die if we do not get this shot. But the fact is ... most are only getting mild cases of the virus which we "suspect" is swine flu as no one is doing any actual testing.

This said, you still should watch your children closely no matter what type of sickness they might have and get proper treatment. And keep them home until they are well.

I dont want to cause alarm, however, parents please be aware of allergic reactions in your child caused by this shot. A good friend of mine was just released from john hopkins for being temporary paralyzed by the shot, she is now in rehabilatation and expected to be o.k.

Are parents aloud to be with thier children when they recieve the shot? Especially the 6 year olds? If I recall when the major of Harrisburg's child received the shot the parents where standing right next to them!

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Libra

Someone is shooting from the hip today, making them irascible and all too liable to fly off the handle. Be very wary about provoking them into further outbursts, particularly where the vexed topics of money and sex are concerned. If you're trying to sort out a financial problem you will also be prone to losing your rag and banging your fist on the table. But will that help?
