First off How does an 18 year old get drunk in maryland? Next up how does a migrant worker drive a Lincoln navigator? Most importantly considering everything involved how much does all of this cost and who will ultimately pay the BILL ? Did the migrant worker pay cash for and own the vehicle?? I would have been nice to see in the article a copy of the vehicle registration card; it would have told a story in it's own rite. Who is ultimately to blame for this unfortunate loss of life??

Get ready.

Probably had ties to MS-13. He'll somehow make bail and skip town. Will never stand trial and never get punished.

This is why Pennsylvania needs to crack down on illegal immigrants. This could have just as easily been a two car accident as a one car accident.

The loss of life is sad and tragic. But that shouldn’t cause us to ignore some other facts.

The orchard owners, landscapers, and other unscrupulous businesses who hire illegal immigrants might save a few dollars in the short run. But now the rest of us will ultimately pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in additional taxes to pay for this crime.

First there’s police, fire and EMT, and then medical and funeral related services for the victims. And then we’ll pay for the lawyers that both prosecute and defend the driver. And if he ends up in prison here, we’ll get stuck with that bill too. Or maybe we’ll get lucky and only have pay the cost of a ticket back to his home country.

There is no insurance to cover these costs, and no way to recover them from the driver. The cost will eventually passed along to others who use these services, and much of it to taxpayers .

Yes, a tiny portion might actually fall back on the very business owners who illegally employ such workers. But the sort of folks who would employ illegals are the type who would cheat on their taxes too. So don’t expect much justice there.

Ultimately, the costs associated with this “victimless crime” of illegal immigration and employment will fall onto the backs of the law abiding workers and businesses who actually follow the rules.

I think the American people should rise up and do what our govt's can't, take out the trash. These illegals could have killed someone we love or care about. As for our liberal Americans, ACLU members, "why can't we all just get along folk", well, they can be escorted out of OUR country as well. Sick and tired of the weak few telling the rest of America how it's going to be.

The way I see it....if you weren't born and raised here, you're gonna have trouble with hormonal living in this mostly civilized and educated society.

There are many, many legal residents and citizens of this country who also drive drunk and cause car accidents. His immigration status has little if anything to do with this.

WRONG!!!!!!....there would be two less dead people and two less injured people that WE HAVE TO PAY FOR!!!!!!!
We have enough of our own idiots...we don't need to import more or allow more to sneak across the border!
The majority of these people can't even read or write their native language let alone learn English and learn our laws and culture!
Do we really need to add more people with a third grade education to our own uneducated population? How many teat suckers can we afford? Do you think the driver passed a driver license test??....Health screening?? English language test?? How can you drive by the laws if you can't read?....HIS ILLEGAL STATUS MATTERS!

What really doesn't surprise me is the prejudice you can hear in all of your comments. Two lives were lost, it has nothing to do with whether or not they were black, white, Mexican, Chinese. But, I would really expect no less from the media who on a daily basis tries to put ideas in our heads. I guess some are just too close-minded to fight it.

Maybe some of the people on here have some prejudicial biases, but aside from that there are also some common sense arguments being made in many of these comments. While it is sad that there were lives lost, it is also important to realize that THIS DIDN'T HAVE TO HAPPEN.
If our immigration system were not so broken and politicians were not so afraid to stand up for what's right, find common ground and FIX it (notwithstanding what Arizona, Florida, and some other states are TRYING to do), illegal immigrants would not have as easy of an opportunity to cause something like this, nevermind the fact that I'm sure it was unintended. It still happened, in our country, on our dime, and now lives have been lost because of something that could have possibly been prevented if we were able to control our own borders!

Ahhh, you're one of the liberal Americans I was talking about. You are correct but who will pay for their medical treatment, their defense and prosecution ect. The American people. What? You think they ever put so much as a dollar into our tax system to help pay for these services. That's the difference. If you like illegals so much why don't you offer to pay his medical bills or his legal fees. You're one of the reasons why our country is the way that it is.
