There is a huge blinking billboard at this location that alerts all oncoming vehicles of a dangerous situation. This traffic was slow, as it is every morning at this time. It wasn't even stopped. People need to begin paying attention to driving. This is especially tru for trucks - they don't have fender benders - they kill.....

I was heading towards Harrisburg about an hour after the crash occurred. I wasn't aware of why the traffic was at a standstill until motorist were redirected to the Limekiln exit. About a half mile up the road is when I could see all of the emergency vehicles. I had a really bad feeling that not only was there an accident, but possibly a fatality. It looked really serious. I stopped complaining right then and there about the slow-moving traffic. I just felt lucky to be alive!

My heart goes out to all the families.

Dear Family of Nancy,

I know you are hurting.
I know you are grieving.
I have not lost a loved one from an out-of-control trucker, but I did witness the immediate aftermath of a horrific truck accident on Rt. 581 in May 2006, that took the life on an innocent young woman.
I can't imagine what you are going through.

But, please, please, please, speak out about this situation, even though it hurts. And please do NOT agree to any gag agreement when the insurance company tries to settle with you. We need you to speak out---just look at what John Walsh of America's Most Wanted has accomplished since the murder of his son---and look what he wouldn't have accomplished if he had stayed silent. When you are ready, please email me at info@stopspeedingtrucks.org I have some ideas as to how you can help make PA highways safer so that others do not have to suffer losses like yours.

Thank you, and please know that people you and Nancy have never met are grieving with you.

We need truckers to pay attention and read the huge blinking signs that warn drivers of slow or stopped traffic. I travel this stretch of highway every morning and every morning the signs are there warning of the traffic issues ahead and most times even give the exact exit # where the traffic congestion begins. I can't even begin to tell how many times truck drivers(tractor trailers and even smaller delivery and construction trucks) have almost caused an accident because they are speeding and can't stop in time. PA needs to place a police officer at the base of Reesers Summitt near the turn pike-to get the trucks and cars attention to slow down.

I will say this, there are alot of (unlawfull)truckers who shouldn't be behind a wheel. But all TRUCK DRIVERS are not bad drivers.
fact that most truck accindents are cause by people in(cars)who cut off trucks then hit thier brakes thinking the truck can stop just as quickly as cars, lets see a car weighs maybe 3 to 4
thousand pounds a truck 80,000 pounds do the math.
For the family who lost thier love one my heart goes out to you.God Bless

Remember when we were growing up?
There were always a couple of bullies in every neighborhood.
They were training us for life on the highway.
Only now, the bullies are everywhere and they play for keeps.
RIP.

First let me say I'm sorry to the family who lost their Mother, Wife, Sister and Daughter.
God Bless & take care.

Then;
It is a shame that everyone is in such a hurry these days that good people have to die.

Drivers need to be more aware of what is going on around them instead of talking on their cell phones, eating or putting on make up!

I'm a commercial driver and know that four wheelers (cars) do the dumbest things around trucks!

They speed up and pass you then slow down so you have to pass them or slam on their brakes in front of you after cutting in front of you.

People you need to be aware that when you do this you may end up in a body bag. Trucks CAN NOT stop as fast as your little car and when we hit you you back seat is coming to visit you.

Now I have never had a "my fault" crash (yet) & hope I never do. But I've been in a few and their not pretty.

And to my fellow truckers "SLOW DOWN" in busy areas! Pay attention to the vehicles ahead of you. If you see brake lights coming on IT'S A HINT!!!!
I see to many of you "young" truckers who think it's a race way out there and it's not. Leave early to get where you're going. Plan on traffic and maybe a blown out tire or over heated truck in hot weather. Is it that hard to do???????
I think not!
I've been doing it for 20 years!

Are you willing to work with concerned citizens so the many unlawful truckers are dealt with and our roads can be safer for all?

This was not a truck driver accident, it was a nighmare to friends, FAMILY and loved ones. This trucker was not paying attention and needs to be procecuted to the full extent possible. How can you not see ahead of you? Four miles back the speed limit says 55, not 70 to 80. He needs to pay hard and I mean HARD. I am told he is upset, but not nearly as much upset as I am. Please give me a reason he could not see this ahead. I am so confused and I need to know why he did this. I need closer from him as to why he can kill and hurt others and only be upset. WHY WHY WHY Please tell me.

83 and 81 have been coming a concern for everyone. It is not just truck drivers but as well as some car drivers on the roads. I seen more and more people not driving posted speeds as well as using turn signals to change lanes. But what I also seen is Police driving at speed and using lighs to just get thru the lights. We are a all in a rush rush world and not think of saftey of others. Who should be at blame is all of us. We want more money and to do it is rush get it done. If you look at people that rush what happens is there is more accidents. We need to slow down and take one day at a time.

Why is always the trucks. I am on 81 hauling waste products up and down 81 in the no fly zone. I have cars passing me like i am sitting still. As easy as it is to blame a truck we are blind to accidents that are caused by cars and drunk drivers.I agree there some trucks/drives that due not obey the laws but most due.As well as the roads in Pa are not safe for anyone. I think if some of you look at our bridges you also would be shocked what Penn Dot is hiding about our bridges. Trust me I saw pics of some bridges.Lets not blame the truck drivers but blame the state police and there lack of doing there jobs.
