The leaders of Harley have betrayed all of their loyal fans and employees. For years, working at Harley was a source of pride. No longer. The company is doing all it can to alienate its employees while its top managers rake in millions. Greed is ugly and Harley will lose its illustrious reputation because of the greed of its new management. The only way they can redeem themselves is to return to treating their employees like the valued assets they are, and to supporting the community that once proudly hosted this plant. If not, my next bike will definitely not be a Harley.

I agree, Harley-Davidson does not treat its employees fairly nor do they show compassion as the company once did under the older leadership it once had. This new wave of leadership stinks.

Harley-Davidson York Plant is laying off too many senior non-union female employees who have outstanding work history records and reviews but have serious health problems (mostly Cancer) many of which only have months to several years to full retirement. Harley is then replacing them with casual workers. I find this very suspicious. I wonder it Harley’s actions are even legal.

I could understand if the health problems did interfere with the employee’s work functions but in most to many cases it does not as they come to work everyday and give the company over 100 percent even while going through Cancer treatments. Truly unbelievable actions on the part of Harley against non-unionized female workers at the York Plant…

Why does not someone in investigative journalism cover this and do a major company wide investigation.

Why doesn't the YDR do an article from the employees point of view.
Get the real story of what it is like in the plant.

Harley Breaksagain is overrated, overvalued and overproduced. Mostly made up of Japanese parts, Showa forks, etc. Want american made by a company that VALUES its workers? Buy a Honda.

To Rider and Disgusted:
Do you thing the QUALITY of Harley-Davidson motorcycles has suffered due to the laying off of skilled and experienced workers? I'm asking because I recently bought a 2011 Fat Bob. It's in the shop already because both bolts are missing from the rear brake caliper. I'm not sure if they fell out or if they were ever there. I discovered the problem when driving home from work and hearing a clanking noise. I'm pretty disappointed! I've always heard about
Harley-Davidson quality but now I'm not so sure about it. Your thoughts and comments please?

YDR would do an article on H-D. They would make it sound like we are the bad employees. And that Harley would not do such a thing. They just don't care. Harley is not like it used to be. GREED!You have a new breed of management. Running it into the ground. Lets see how long Harley stays on top. Victory is moving up fast. Made in Iowa. First bike came off the assembly in 1998. They have style. Harleys are antiques. Nothing has really changed about them.

I was a HD dealer for 20 years and sold out 6 years ago. I never was a designer store and Harley was a pos company to work with since 1995 or there abouts. It was always pressure to do it there way. Now they are pressureing the workers. I do believe the day of the union is gone but you have to first have a company that will work with employees. I remember one time we got a crap load of Bulova watches in and low and behold Willie G was the salesman for Bulova to HD. Yes it actually had his name as ssalesman on the invoice.

I own a harley and I am proud of it however I am disappointed by the lack of support harley gave to the bike weekend here in York . Fox 43 did a awesome job with the pride and ride event . I hope next year Harley will do right thing and have its open house activities and support its loyal customers/ riders and support the community the way we supported them when they needed it .

You are a total idiot! If you knew anything about the retail business it would not surprise you that nobody knew the whole thing would be a flop. Retailers and other businesses ordered products based on the past years. Its people like you that go against the rest just to look stupid and you did a good job. Go back in the closet and do not forget to turn off the lights.

Name calling way to go! Harley announced months ago that there would be NO open house. Don't retailers read the newspaper? Smart business people do. Had they taken the time to do so they might have made wiser business decisions. As noted above their greed is their own responsibility not Harley's

I agre that H-D is overpriced, especially when new. And they need accesseries to make them comfortable. But that is also part of the fun accessorizing them. If you know how to wrenc and do your own shopping, a harley and the accessories are affordable. The dealership and buying them new is for fools. I cant say they are junk, my two used bikes have served me well, both 2005's a Sportster and a Dyna. The funny thing is, the book value on them is so low, that I will just keep my Sporty, I can get what pople want to pay now in five years. Yeah its an 883, but it is nice Iget compliments on it all the ie, chrome everything and Samson straight pipes. Sounds and looks like a Harley should. Worth every bit of $7000. I wont sell it for the 3800 book value, I paid morethan 7000 for it . The market is flooded now with H-D. You can have pretty much any bike y want for a good used price. Low mileage bikes are out there too people buy em, then dont ride them. They are not investments, they are meant to be ridden. The ones that seem to hold value are te softails and the FLH's Dyna is one hell of a good bike for the coin. Sportster too. You pole ae bitching about your jobs well, sorry welc tnw america, wold you tke a pay cut to keep your job? Alot of americans arent making what they used to make before the recession. Harley might be cutting costs laying off workers. Its not personal, its business you have to stay marketable in the workforce, the days of graduating high school and working a factory untill you retire are over, no more getting your kid a job in the same factory and your whole goddamne uneducated family working there and the guy off the street tries to apply here but cant get in cause he desnt know anyone to get him in etc. Im glad its over cause thats the kind of shit that went on in places like that and you have the nerve to call H-D greedy?
