To Charlie I lived in the Bronx all my life and if you are a young man or a man with a teenage son you should avoid these areas unless you have no choice:::: Soundview projects,Webster projects, highbridge projects,Patterson projects, mott haven projects, 800 building on 180th in southern blvd, tiebout ave(its not a project but it is the worst street in the Bronx with a high rate of shootings),Forest projects,183rd and creston.

Im from Australia and soon wanna visit the bronx I do here its ghetto but I wanna see for myself. In every part of the world theres good and bad and I do believe if the government and Obama would offer more welfare and clean up the place there would be less crimes and less deaths.

The BRONX is utter filth and renown as LOWLIFE HQ. There is absolutely nothing worthwhile in the Bronx except opportunities for getting stabbed, beaten, or shot. This is no secret.

I can't believe marble hill is in the bronx. Lol I thought always that MH was part of Manhattan but only "political" but when I go on the 1 train they don't say bronx bound 1 but Van Courtlandt Park 1 etc. Plus Metro North declares Marble Hill as a neighborhood. Like the people in Marble Hill as well in the present time.

it's obvious that it's been quite a while since you've been in the Bronx. every one of these neighborhoods are either run down or becoming run down. sad but true.

I have just received a beautiful flyer in the mail because my family recently won an all expense paid trip to New York City and the 7 days and 7 nights there we will be staying at the Riveroad Motor Inn on Webster street in the Bronx. Is this a good hotel and what kind of fun things are there to see in the Bronx an New York area? My son says a friend of his that told him to make sure we stop by for a tour of the scenic Riker's Island. He told me we would never forget the experience.

Frankly, I am very excited but I am hoping locals can give me feedback on the more exciting facets of my upcoming visit. I eagerly await your replies.

Many warm thanks to all who choose to reply.

It's Webster Ave and that is a sleazy motel trust. You will hear plenty of headboards banging. As far as riker's island, we New Yorkers try and avoid that place at all cost, because that's where the jail house is. New York on a whole is extremely dangerous if you act like a tourist, but it's also rich with history and immersed in culture if you go to the right places. Just Google a city guide or tourist site, preferably beforehand. Don't use smartphones or stop for directions in seedy areas. It may cost more, but take a cab if you are lost in the hood. We can spot an out-of-towner a mile away lol. Most importantly just take it all in and enjoy good and bad.

P.S. Next time don't stay at a cheap Bronx motel, they're filled wither hookers, lol.
