So sorry for Darlene

I feel terrible for Darlene Rodriguez that she has had to endure this. She is my favorite anchor, and I have missed her on the mornings she hasn't appeared. That being said, we do not even know what went on here. While it is common for men whose partners achieve greater success than them to try to prove their self-worth by cheating or otherwise acting out, this girl obviously has a credibility problem, as shown by her changing the story about the boyfriend. We should not take take Sgt. Rodriguez's plea as an admission of guilt--often it's just a way to stop the madness, and avoid the risk and expense of a trial.

What a ridiculous statement. The only people with credibility problems are the dirt bag former police officer and his wife.

You should feel bad for the poor woman who was allegedly victimized this animal.

His loudmouth wife, for once, should have tried to avoid being in front of the cameras and not tried to use her "success" to intimidate the victim and investigators.

WNBC should think about who they have representing them.

Dear Ms. Rodriguez,
I used to enjoy watching you from 5am-7am. I thought you were smart, well-spoken, a mother, and pretty. I must tell you how disappointed I am of you to stand by your husband after he has pleaded guilty to having sex (or is it raping) with a child. If he were not guilty (I'm sure exacerbated by the fact his chewed gum was found in the girl's garbage), he would, regardless of the turmoil caused to your family, proclaim his innocence. If one is innocent, he will fight whatever until he is proven guilty. Darlene, I'm surprised at you. He is guilty. P.S. Your hair looks dyed blonde. Go back to your natural.
Sincerely, Carol Flamio [email protected]

What does what this creep has done have ANYTHING to do with his wife? You people are so ignorant.

This is about him...NOT Darlene. Darlene, my prayers are with you and your family. Get rid of the bum.

I hope Darlene leaves him and finds a man who will treat her and her children with the respect they deserve. What a horrible way for a Police Officer and Father to act. I can't believe he got a slap on the wrist. My faith is the court system is not what it use to be. It's a shame all around.

what a jerk. all along he said he was innocent and now we find out the truth. so what if he didn't "rape" her, he still took advantage of her. i feel sorry for his wife- a beautiful talented woman who deserves better. she stuck by him but i hope she dumps him now.

Darlene -
if you are reading this (and i hope you are NOT) take nothing these people are saying at heart... I am sure you will do what is best for you and your family. Please don't leave your job or hide... show them you are strong and live your life as you would want your children to see you.
this too shall pass.... it always does.
Best wishes.

I don't understand the sexual contact, but not rape, that occurred. Ex-officer Rodriguez returned to the 17 year old girls apt, off duty, but she knew he was a police officer. If She did have "sexual contact", it was probably because she felt intimidated.
His confession is hollow, and without the damning evidence would not have occurred. His lawyer says it wasn't intercourse. This is just semantics or wordplay to excuse a criminal event. Ex-officer Rodriguez was not punished enough for his abuse of authority, and again the citizens get to see a criminal "insider" walk.

How many cops are not scumbags?

New legislation needs to be passed to triple the sentence of any elected or law enforcement official in NYS who commits a crime greater than a speeding ticket!

DA offices around the country cut these types of deals.

PC policies are creating sub-standard personal.
Good cops in the NRPD are getting a bad name because of the bad cops hired through affirmative action practices. standards are lowered for some.
Raced based preferrencs are wrong.
We should only pick the best.

Social workers have chase away good cops,
and replace them with a challanged personal.

This has been happening for thirty years.

You're a talented bright women. I'm sure its been difficult for you. My prayers are with you. Remain strong. Acts of infidelity and breach of trust in a marriage are difficult to get past. It may be time to move on.
