If one of his duties include working with the new county commissioners to attract higher education to the area, bring him on. When Stilwell left, he was described as coming from a college town in Michigan and was leaving to work for college town , Dennison.
The writing is on the wall to bring a university / college / technical school to Sidney-Shelby County. And it's about time to bring an anchor to the area for busienss and indsutry. Teaching / training a workforce for areas they need.
So tired of hearing Edy High and Wright State's offerings that do not address the needs of local business. This on-line education garbage has been tried before and means nothing to HR's who need hands on students ready to step into the workerforce. Institutions around here do not meet those needs.
Not sure there are professionals in the community who can move that concept forward. Most are afraid to step on college toes, yet there is a whine in the community that companies won't come to Shelby County. The outflow of education dollars is staggering. The outflow of local talent is staggering as well. And no strategy to stem the tide and retain assets, as well as attract assets to Shelby County. The "City / County Fathers" leaders choke off economic growth which is probably why Stilwell left Sidney and nobody stays very long, especially those recruited to come here. Once they find out what's going on, they look for an escape route, sending out resumes. Can't blame them.

I dont think he realizes how right wing Tea Party Liberty Group crazy this town has become since he left.

I think after living in a town where people are engaged and eager to support the well being of their town and then coming to what Sidney is now will be a rude awakening.

The powers that be wont let this happen anyway. Yellow Springs will brand him as a LIBERAL!!! And that is a dirty word in this town.

Yellow Springs is pretty Liberal. Probably why Antioch went belly up.
What social spectrum are the Liberty Group comprised around here ? Wouldn't think old school Republican Party machine are in there. And not Liberal Democrat union people ? That leaves normal, common sense Conservative residents. I should be there !
Think Hillsdale College would come to Sidney with a branch campus ?

The Tea Party Liberty Group is not full of common sense people. They are all retarded unrealistic zealots.

Not only will Sidney not vote for school levys now, they wont vote for roads.

And last I saw, Antioch is open. It had nothing to do with Yellow Springs as a town which always has thriving small businesses.Actually they are always protecting the interests of the small businesses.

Antioch College closed down because the endowments were used to open new colleges in California and New Hampshire. The college tried to grow too fast. They were able to close down for a few years and get their financial house in order and are now acredited.

Also, Yellow Springs has two colleges. Antioch College and Antioch Universtity MacGreggor.

Yellow Springs property values are consistently high because people WANT to live there. The population is always investing in their community. They don't think paved roads are socialism.

Yellow Springs is an example of what a small town COULD be.

If Yellow Springs is so liberal than why is Youngs Dairy a must stop for Republican Candidates?

YIKES ! EGADS ! It's Liberal out of it's territory.
One "tell" is the callous use of the word, retarded. Show shows an intellectual ignorance of entitlement. Even Antioch Liberals would shutter at such verbage. I'm glad they reopened. We need more
worthless liberal arts degrees floating around our society, supplying dairy made products to politicians.
The defeat of school levies are due in part to non-taxpaying & lower and middle income disenfranchised residents who are looked down on by snobbish professionals who think by endorsing an issue in the newspaper, their words reign. School levy supporters try to shove these school issues down the throats of district residents, when in fact these same residents are struggling just to buy food, provide shelter for their families and keep the utilities on. Every dollar counts with them. not the fundraising, get in each other's pockets to support their favorite project crowd.
If local government was prudent about their spending habits and able to promote & attract outside business to the area, then the electorate might be more understanding.
Mistrust: Example: The City Spending over $340,000 to demolish a building. Example: City is Ready to spend millions of dollars to steal water from a rural gravel pit in Washington TWP. Which would run the risk of draining private well systems area wide. And who would compensate them for drilling new wells, if there is more water down there ?
These are professional bureaucrats trying to snooker the public. Hell no people won't support politicos who they don't trust.
The Tea Party movement is slowly gaining the respect of average, ordinary, common sense Americans. Thankgoodness, sanity has arrived.

Actually the polls say otherwise. The Tea Party has lost ground and respect. Look at the speaker at the last Liberty Group Meeting, the guy wanted to give MORE power to the local Sheriff. Did you miss the past year in Shelby County?

The city had to spend the money to demolish the building, it was a hazard. Do you remember the road being closed and taped off? It was because it was in danger of falling into the street. It is part of the reason we have government. Who would have paid for the cleanup and loss of life and limb had that building fallen on traffic or passers by?

That water project has been in the works for about 50 years. I don't like anyone in that Township so I don't care if they have to drill a new well.

Actually you're wrong again. Tea Party supporters are not obnoxious, annoying, trouble making protester wanna be criminals. Tea Partiers don't infringe by emcampment in public parks crap on public grounds, rape & pillage others, or are talking out of both sides of their mouths. Tea Party supporters aren't pepper sprayed because they can't listen and take direction from law enforcement. They are respectful and clean up after themselves. They work within the system and don't throw temper tantrums financed by some socialist moron using capitalists made goods that make their lives easier. Tea Party supporters are not squeaky wheels and avoid poll takers....
The city is clueless of how to restore buildings let alone find water in Sidney proper. There is so much blight within the city limits, there enough rehabilitation to concentrate on and not invade townships & county real estate and resources. City hacks can stay home, rural Shelby County doesn't care for you either !
