I am going to assume it will be some time yet. They have to be indicted first and a lot of the cases around here are taking two years or so to get to trial.

Too bad it didn't blow up while the dopers were cooking up their nasty concoction.

to 67 Utopia Marine: What if.....that were your family member? What if......that were a child of yours or a very dear friend? What if.....one of the above were there to purchase and your wish came true? There are many "What ifs" here and would you say the same thing had it happened close to you?

But it wasn't his/hers or my family member, or one of our friends or a child of ours. However, if any of the above of mine were there to purchase that poison, willingly, then (and I know this sounds cold), they deserve what they get. I would be there to support my family member or close friend, if they became hooked on that junk (and, typically, people can be with just one use). I would do what I could to see that they received treatment. But, in the end, it was their decision. I would feel sad if something bad happened to them (even worse than being hooked on meth), but I would also have to realize that far too many people are making the wrong decisions and are keeping scum like the meth dealer mentioned in the article in business, pushing their poison on those willing to take it and ruining their lives and the lives of those close to them.
So, while 67's comments might have seemed a little harsh, I can't disagree with the sentiment.

I take it that your family is one of the endangered species.....ie....no drug addiction, alcohol addiction, rx drug addiction, so on and so on. With that being said, I commend you and yours, but reality is these people have parents, kids, aunts, uncles, sisters, and brothers who love them (probably hate what they are doing)and one comment like "I wish the dopers had blown themselves up" can hurt one's family.....mainly the kids. Yes, it is in fact a horrible, God awful thing to be doing.....producing meth, but if law enforcement were doing their job to start with and not being paid off by the meth dealers then this kind of thing would be far and few between. There is a reason that meth is so rapid and it is not the dealers. You cannot tell me that one can produce, sell, or use in a neighborhood, next to a school and law enforcement is completely in the dark. No way!The falt lies with law first and the dealer second.

OK, first of all, it really doesn't matter if anyone in my family suffers from any form of addiction. Second of all, I agreed that 67's comments were excessive. However, and I feel for you if one of your family members is afflicted with a meth addiction, as it seems is the case, the fact is that that person made a conscious decision to become addicted to an awful and pervasive substance. Their decision in turn impacted your life and the lives of everyone who cared for that person.
I can understand how you may feel the law enforcement in our community are not doing enough to deal with the meth problem, but the local news is filled on an almost daily basis with stories about meth labs being busted, which goes to show how widespread the problem is. Now, if you have some proof that meth dealers are paying off police officers or deputies, that is another story, but just because a specific lab has yet to be busted does not mean law enforcement is in the dark. They have to be there at the same time either the transactions are taking place or when evidence is on hand. The meth dealers tend to be pretty smart, unfortunately, which makes them difficult to catch with the limited resources available.
Going back again to 67's comments. Yes, I would never wish that would happen to anyone. But, I would not shed too many tears if a meth dealer is killed while producing or selling such an awful poison. He made a conscious decision to become involved in such illegal activity, the same way the meth user makes a decision to become hooked in the first place. The fault is theirs first.

You can blow that smoke if you want to and impress those who share your feelings, but I still see it being law enforcements fault first. I had a neighbor whom I complained of that had all evidence of a meth distributor. Every complaint fell to deaf ears except the onetime that a small purchaser was busted who had just left that residence. One week after the posessor was busted, the law came in that house for about 3-hours and left and that resident moved out completely before sundown the same day. They relocated just down the street. Why did that happen? They are still currently doing their deals today. Same traffic..in and out 5 min.-10 min. and gone.....24 hrs a day...7 days a week...No, job.....very nice neighborhood also...if it isnt money then what the hell is it?

No, I will not call law enforcement again......they did not do anything but warn the distributors. So, as far as I am concerned that is job security for law enforcement!!!!The bust the buyers so they can look effective in the newspaper. If they would rather get the small users than the huge distributors then so be it!!!!!!! Do not try and tell me how great they are......

Yeah, well I know the people in the article and you would never have thought that they would be doing this some dear friends kids would go over there after school to be with their friends( the peoples kids) They never saw it or smelled it they did a very good job of hiding it. Greed is the only thing I can think of that led them to do it. As far as what Utopia said I agree my family went through the drug addiction with some of the other members of my family and it isn't nice. They have even served time for it, but in the end they will probably get some high dollar lawyer to get them off and they will be right back at it. If your going to go there then live with the consequences and hope they get what they deserve because if I found out they were selling it to my kids they wouldn't have to have a trial.

Those individuals that produce and sell this stuff do so with the conscious knowledge that they are destroying lives. Those that choose to partake of this stuff do so with the conscious knowledge that their lives will likely be destroyed. It may sound cold, and I apologize to those who I may offend by this, but both groups cannot complain, or expect sympathy from me, about the consequences.

WHAT does it say about the general public when they have FREE access to a sex offender registry and still live and let live by them IGNORANTLY????
WHAT does it say about you THIEVES with NO drug history that are stealing and getting caught just to sell the stolen goods to buy your DRUGS?
WHAT does it say about the drunks who live, drive, and take their kids to school under the influence of alcohol ONLY?
WHAT does it say about you who are HIGH on RX DRUGS and let the RX drugs sit readily available to your kids and their friends?

MUST I continue?

WHAT does it say about those who are on illegal drugs and living on borrowed time???

WHAT does it say about you are so IGNORANT that you live with, date, or defend one who has been arrested, convicted,& indicted for any of WHAT I have spoken about???

PEOPLE IN GLASS HOUSE SHOULD NOT THROW STONE..THEIR HOUSE WILL BREAK ALSO....

THANK YOU AND YOU HIPOCRITES HAVE A BLESSED DAY.

Ummm, OK. Without debating Gina point by point, I will agree in principle with what I think she is trying to say. Mainly, that while the majority of us will express outrage when we learn someone we supposedly know and trust has been alleged to be engaged in criminal behavior, all too often such behavior is condoned and accepted by the public's silence.
Taking things a step further (farther?), and this is my own opinion here, part of the problem is that we live in a society which is obsessed with the "bad boys", or those who are "extreme" or "push the envelope". We live in a world where anybody, I mean anybody, can get a reality tv show simply by being rich, relatively attractive and doing something outrageous or against the rules. Women from wealthy families who make sex tapes are instantly made into celebrities. Rappers and athletes who have long criminal histories are idolized simply because they are good at their day jobs. Contestants in shows where they are forced to share a house with others for a few weeks understand they can get extra screen time (and probably more money) by being the most obnoxious, hateful or promiscuous of the bunch.
These are just some of the examples of what we and our kids are exposed to every day, and no matter how hard we protest WE KEEP ON WATCHING. It is no wonder why the public is becoming more and more desensitized to the same type of activity occurring in our own back yards. And which is why, when we are confronted with that possibility, we react so strongly, because we refuse to admit and accept the fact that it happens right here, every day.
Jump on that if you want, Gina, or whomever, but that is my opinion.
