Escalate, escalate, escalate.
Whatever happened to cops that "diffuse" situations instead of throw gas on the flames?

You've probably never met the man who shot the deputy - I have. He was nuts and my thanks and prayers are with the deputy!

You don't know the situation I do. Dusty risked his life to keep this man from ending his. The situation was diffused but sometimes in their line of work injuries happen. Lets just be thankful he wasn't hurt any worse. He is a hero and deserves an accommodation

Rifle vs. shotgun, or shotgun vs. shotgun, or even handgun vs. shotgun if that's all you have.

You don't bring a Taser to a shotgun fight anymore than you'd bring a knife to a gun fight.

I commend the deputy because he was obviously doing everything he could to keep from killing that nutcase.

I quit negotiating with nuts a long time ago though.

Harry, it seems as if you don't know you are talking about. All attemps were uses to descalate. Dusty is damn good officer, one of the best of the best and bt the book. This offcier is doing a job that most others can't do or won't do. Live a day in shoes and see what he goes through. Good got shot bad guy is fine you tell me.

He was lucky the Officer only fired a taser. I would have shot him with a real gun. You try de-escalating a suicidal maniac with a gun. You can't do it, that's why your an armchair commentator.
Then you should be tried as a Murderer, but it sounds like to me that you are lacking many skills to be a real P-O. Dusty did everything right in my book, he should get the medal of Valor and Bravery from OSA and a thank you from Gov.

Daily Horoscope for January 2

Taurus

It's important that you keep that famous bull-headedness in check over the next couple of weeks. Be cool, calm and sensible and you'll find that you end up with things correctly and tidily done. Stick to the straight and narrow, no matter what the distractions or irritations around you. If you think outside the square, you'll begin to see how visualisation can change and shape your life. Trust your hunches and be ready to move on them.
