Three arrested after police find 26 malnourished dogs

Three Lake County men have been arrested and charged with animal cruelty after 26 malnourished dogs were found on their properties.

This is horrible! These poor animals are raised, bred, and then trained to attack each other to the death for the MERE entertainment of gamblers who ENJOY the horrible deaths of animals. This also seems to be a cultural issue, and should be addressed in schools, and elsewhere, at large, to teach people that this IS ANIMAL cruelty and has no place in our society.

Yes - thank you to the officers that took these precious animals out of their life of doom. Even if they are euthanized, they will have a peaceful death instead of a life of pain and a painful death.

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) I could not see the picture(s) of the suspected dirtbags. However, from what I have read, "POS" sounds quite appropriate to me. Starve these SOBs for a few days and put a chain around their necks and see how much they like it!

Ok ... folks lets think a minute. We're coming up on Super Bowl Sunday -- can we collectively decide to quit rewarding the mentality of "winning at any cost" -- gambling, sport WIN WIN WIN. There was a time-honored concept once upon a time of "being a good sport".

We've lost that -- we've elevated sports figures to god-hood by paying exhorbitant salaries and turning a blind eye to things like steroid use and "win at ANY COST".

Fighting dogs (like cock-fighting) is something anyone can do -- needs no education, no real hard work, obviously no "equipment" and the local pound is full of cheap labor.

We can all cry foul and "convict them" but until we start in our OWN walk and what we demonstrate to those around us -- no one will listen.

When was the last time you didn't use your turn signals so someone didn't "get in front of you"? When was the last time you LET someone in front of you simply because it was the nice thing to do?

Do you encourage your kids (or your brother's kids or whoever's kids) to do something the RIGHT way just because it's right to ... well, to do the right thing. Even if it means they won't 'win'-- they should take pride in taking the high road?

People like this get rewarded handsomely for their behavior. The only reason Michael Vick got what HE did was because it became national news because ... PEOPLE CARED.

If you're reading this and appalled -- take the extra minute -- talk to a kid, talk to a neighbor, talk to a friend about right vs. wrong. It's a moral issue.

When people STOP GOING to dog fights, dog fighting would stop from sheer boredom.

Good luck. They will probably just get more probation. It's a revolving door. The cops do their job and the court just turns the criminals back out on the streets with probation, which they violate, then the cycle starts over again.
