Wash. Wildlife Officers Aim at Target Shooters
June 11--Responding to a recent spate of wildfires started by target shooters on state lands, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is restricting target shooting on the Wenas Wildlife Area to the hours between sunrise and 11 a.m. from now through September.

It's interesting that they have the time and manpower to go after people shooting at inanimate targets, when they tell me repeatedly that they have neither the time nor the manpower to enforce regulatations protecting live animals from poaching -- a line I've been fed not only with regard to nongame animals, but also in response to my report of finding a campsite with remains of at least 4 freshly butchered elk, out of season. Clearly the department's priorities could use a little reorganizing.
