All real estate purchase transactions in Ukraine are done in US dollars. The defacto currency in Ukraine for business transactions is increasingly in US dollars. If you want to buy or sell a condo in Kiev, Lviv, Kharkov or in Sevastapol, or anywhere in Ukraine, the deal is always done in US dollars. This all means Ukraine is aligning itself economically with the west and using the US dollar.Millions of US dollars are also moving back to Ukraine from Israel and the US and Canada as the Ukrainian diaspora returns to retire and invest money in Ukraine. FYI.

The title of the thread talks about opposition parties uniting. Dictators (and dictator wannabees) operate by "Divide and conquer". If they can keep the opposition fighting amongst themseles then the dictator feels secure. IF the opposition parties unite against him then the handwriting will be on the wall "Mene Mene Tekel Upharsin"

The opposition parties should just ensure they are Pro west and Pro USA, and all will be well in Ukraine.Cash, investments and help and support will flow into Ukraine. If they go Pro Russia in Ukraine... goodbye Ukraine..... This time for good.

USA Cash is king in Ukraine. Everyone deals in the American Greenback in Ukraine. There are nice modern condos going up near Sevastopol,Ukraine near the Greek ruins. They are easy to buy if one has US cash. A line of credit from a US or Canadian bank and confirmation with a phone call of cash in US funds, and you are in business and own a condo and sit back and watch the Black Sea . Actually quite easy, as long as you have US funds. "Amerikanski Hroshi " only, please.Rubles and Euros are laughed at in Ukraine, as being virtually worthless currencies, supported by nothing.

INteresting-- I have seen for myself that Dollars are quite happily accepted. This summer I shall leave some more dollars there. I look forward to telling you what I observe first hand. Maybe it will help offset some of the Russian Apologists who work overtime telling us how bad it is in Ukraine.

BTW-- I will NOT spend my time in tourist traps. I will with my Ukrainoan family and visit our many friends throughout the country. I shall spend three months living with Ukrainians and as they do. I have don this beore and it is a pleasant experience.

Regardless of Polands actions peace was never a concrete path, Nazi's had always intended on exterminating all the Jews in Poland and destabilization was Germany's format for control. Irrelevant to Ukraine. Russian elections are fixed, factual and agreed by international and UN watchers. Ukraine will have fudged elections as well. Only options after elections are scary, red and black flags speak a million words. With more restrictions coming Ukraines ways times will be interesting. All those traveling to and from Ukraine be careful what you broadcast here the FSB keeps a record of anti government voices. If your taken into custody in Ukraine, the pattern of suicide has sky rocketted. Sad times. Freedom sheds more tears and blood. Fear becomes the main weapon again.

I would not want to be arrested for anything in Ukraine these days, so I would not travel there with the current political situation in place. If they can imprison Tymoshenko and her ministers and now Yushchenko is under investigation, no one is safe and things are politically dangerous there, and it is a chance not worth taking. There is a different situation there for criminal justice issues. It is called a " reverse onus ". You are presumed guilty as charged and you must show you are not guilty. There are no jury trials, and the judges are political appointees and hacks and puppets of the state.

This was the system used by the KGB in the infamous Lubyanka Prison. An inmate was presumed guilty. However, the Russians like nothing better than to give the APPEARANCE of legality so the accused was tortured and drugged until he or she signed a "confession" and was then sent to Siberia.
