Look up "no one's paid for obamacare" on Google and you'll see a LOOONG list of far-right sites (only) crying that "no one KNOWS how many have signed up, no one's paid for their healthcare, there's a payment deadline, you're being lied to by Dems," and other insane Rightie gibberish.

I swear, just when you think the far Right can't get any more stupid, they put an ice-cream cone in their eye and fall over.

ROTFLMAO

Reading through here, it seems to me these democrats would just feel better if we were a democracy rather than a republic due to the implications thereof.

That is correct, it is. The outrage will return at the end of this year and 2016 I can promise you. How do I know? I read the polls where Hussein is sinking lower and lower.
Of course I have an entire folder with links of the millions that have been damaged by this socialist experiment, but I know you wouldn't be able to challenge them and just say they are all either right-wing outlets or lies. So what's the point?
But since you live so close to Cleveland, I'm sure you're quite aware of the 3,000 layoffs at the world famous Cleveland Clinic because of Commie Care stated so by the left-wing CEO of that establishment.
But hey! If you are interested in my multiple links, just ask, I'll be happy to provide.
Sure, I would love to see a link that backs up your numbers that isn't from a known rightwing propaganda site. Post away.

Do you know what the scary thoughts are? The lazy, insecure, uninspired, no ethics people get to vote too.
That means that the 'free ride on the backs of others' still comes into play

Hmmmm

Who is talking about a Democratic "form" of government? LOL

How did you vote on the affordable care act?

Oh that's right, you didn't get to vote.

That's the difference between a Representative Republic and a Democracy.

Simple huh

This is true, but the one thing that "they" don't consider is that the lazy get so lazy, they don't take the time to vote. This is the entitlement mentality. After a while, they assume that what they get from others is just the way it's going to be for the rest of their lives. Nobody would dare take it away from them.
I sure hope you're right, because I keep thinking we've crossed that tipping point, the point of no return. When the majority of voters are collecting a government check (welfare check or paycheck) every week, we are in trouble.

It's what happens when someone who doesn't believe in science gets no respect. Do you honestly think that people who believe in talking snakes and secret commie plots have anything of relevance to say to anyone outside of Tea Bag land. You know, that choked up little Fox News, Rush, Glenn Beck bubble that gets smaller every day? Hell, even the Pope thinks you guys are douchebags. Wonder if he's as popular as the last Pope?

People of this nation hold the president (or his party) responsible for everything that goes on in this country. While the Democrats were so delighted that they were the party that ushered in the first so-called black President, they will regret the backlash.
There is a lot of buyers remorse out there, and complaining about it now is fruitless. Their anger will come out during the elections. This is not to mention the already damaged front runner for the Democrats Hilarious Clinton.
Yah..yah..yah...Glenn Beck tears, liberty...all that. Still waiting on that link to back up your numbers on Obamacare.

One societal problem out there is that too many voters & so called representatives seem to forget that once elected, that person is supposed to represent EVERYONE that makes up their constituency.
There's a reason they campaign on the issues that are important to their constituents. We vote for the ones who represent our values and goals for the country. If they go to Washington and do something different, then the citizens who voted for them, may as well have voted for the other party.

Just to clarify, I'm talking about major issues here, like the healthcare law, abortion, etc. There are other, less-important decisions where compromise should be reached in the everyday course of events.

It never hurts to be reminded about the reason why the founders chose to separate the branches of govt. Even the legislative branch is divided in two, both having equal power. And within them are hundreds of seats filled with representatives from different sides. That's because the founders wanted each branch to keep the others in check, and even the minority party in each house of the legislature to keep the majority in check, if they have the votes. If only the Senate matters, just because the executive branch is democrat, then why have the House at all?

So, I don't buy into this lie that "we won the election, so you should go along with what we say". They didn't win the election in the House. They lost it. And the House has as much power as the Senate. So, the republican reps need to stop letting the dems bully them into submission, and do their #%@$ jobs.

<quoted text> Something amazing about this list of quotes is that it has presidents of both major parties & it is reasonable to count Reagan in each party at one time or another.
Yeah, it's easy now to forget the young Ronnie --- movie actor, democrat, and union activist! That's the version I first remember. As it turned out, he had a wonderful gift for politics, too...

Commonsense doesn't appear to be his strong suit.

Canton, your tactics are too transparent. I've been through this little game before on a different forum, where the libtards kept saying I was someone I wasn't. It's an Alinsky-like way of trying to marginalize the person and shut them down. Needless to say, it didn't work there, and it won't work here. I'll be staying around for a long while, so get used to it, chimpy.

Speaking of the other forum, your tactics and posts remind me of one of the weasels on there ... His username was Jakeman. Is that you?

And then you followed that with "It's vital for us to take the Senate in 2014 and the WH in 2016." By "us" I assumed you meant Republicans, so I thought I'd remind you that the EPA was created by Richard Nixon by executive order.
And the Dept of Homeland Security was started by GW Bush. Both were big mistakes. Even if the administrations that start these bureaucracies don't abuse them, there will eventually come along one that will. As Ben Franklin said, "Govt is a necessary evil". That tells me that there is always the potential for abuse of power and corruption, so govt should have been kept as small and accountable as possible.

After our discussion about global warming, I thought this might be something of interest. It's the compelling story of a woman who saved aprx 3,000 Jews during WWII, and was tortured as a result. She was nominated in 2008 for the Nobel Peace Prize. She lost to Al Gore. A sad commentary.

It was actually Thomas Paine who said "Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one..." It is on page one of his famous pamphlet "Common Sense."
