You know,I saw something on the history channel yesterday on WHY & how the congress,as early as 1914 was able to criminalize cocaine & it had NOTHING to do with health concerns but everything to do with racial stereotyping. The propaganda of the day<when racism was alive & well> was to depict african americans using the drug as more violent, when in fact that just wasn't true.
Funny how we havn't banned tobacoo products yet due to the health risks but I guess the feds just can't bear the thought of losing all that extra revenue that taxing tobacoo products brings in.
Opium stopped being "medicine" with ugly propaganda to degrade the image of our Chinese citizens. We had other REALLY ugly policies against them that stayed in force until we needed oriental knowledge === for Pacific part of WWII.
Yes. And it is also the reason why possession of the same amount of cocaine is WILDLY divergent in years and MANDATORY sentencing. Powder = rich white folks. Crack = colored and/or poor folks.
Read more and you learn that ANTI-FELON laws removing vote and gun possession --- were to defang the freed slaves who outnumbered the whites. They feared the violent retribution they deserved in their minds.

And we all forgot the bans against selling alcohol to Native Americans because they can't "handle it." Who can?
One hard part about dealing with women's reproductive issues is that all these other minorities REALIZED they were being smeared with false propaganda.
Looooooong ago, I thought feminists were nuts. I didn't yet realize how a group which outnumbered male population could be an oppressed "minority." It takes slicker twisting of half truths, muddier waters, more magical distraction, and rewrapping old prejudices in new packaging. If we BUY the bad image of ourselves as irresponsible murderers who MUST be controlled by law instead of convinced ------ everybody loses, again.

I can see she isn't above looking to the public dole for her daughters college education!

Why didn't she save the money for her daughters college education or make her daughter work harder and get a sports or academic scholarship? She could have worked a J-O-B specifically for her kids education if it was so important to her.

I have student loans. Those are available to everyone equally. I am sure she won't mind having her daughter PAY BACK the govt.s money for her education.

I am a poll worker in CT. This job is not a joke. It is very serious. There is one Repub and one dem at each table. We check ID's, match them with addresses and if there is an issue we refer it to the supervisor. We are not allowed to leave the building, except to vote and the prefer you get an absentee ballot before hand. I don't, I vote at a poll.

There is no campaigning for 75 ft in front of the polls, which is clearly marked, but there are usually people at that mark.

By the time a person is voting, they have made up their minds. Anti-Choicers will just antagonize people who have aleady made a decision about their vote, and show what control freaks they really are.

This is a pretty stupid policy, though, that allows ANY kind of ads on poll workers shirts.

I find it interesting she managed to find GLTB scholarships for the purposes of trying to make her point (which she failed to do), but couldn't find one for her daughter?

Leon Harrison is a racist:

In the most decrepit slums of this impoverished country and in the cool hills where the rich live in luxurious villas, there was a rare mood of ebullience today as people prepared to vote Sunday on a constitution that defines a new way of life in Dayton, Ohio.

The new constitution contains dozens of specific measures creating obstacles to any future dictatorship and promising personal liberties and such previously nonexistent features as the right to free education, decent housing and a fair day's pay.

It creates an independent commission to conduct presidential elections, scheduled for November, and bars from participation in the elections anyone in the armed forces as well anyone closely associated with the Harrison family dictatorship, which ruled West Carrollton with a fascist iron fist for nearly 30 years.

The constitution may not be able to deliver all it promises in a poor country with no democratic tradition. But in contrast to the timid interim Government that has presided since street protests brought down Leon Harrison in February 2013, the new constitution has given voice to the Daytonians' most passionate hopes and is expected to be approved by a wide margin.
