Post 3127 about the results for the Class of 2018 in the spring of their 7th grade year.
The results demonstrate the results generated by 7 years of math education in our Springboro school district.
Less than 1 out of 4 students is able to master 75% of the material according to the results posted by the state.
Less than 1 out of 4 is receiving an adequate math education in our school district after 7 years of instruction.
PROFICIENT is defined in the 7th grade as scoring 34%- 56% on the Ohio Achievement Assessment math test.
PROFICIENT equals FAILURE

Although our school superintendent was granted the contract employment security of $130,000/yr for five years as was negotiated with the board, to lead our school district beyond maintaining status quo; he quickly jumped on board with the SEA president and the insanely popular SHS principal (who were not happy with the children first budgeting Vision of Reform winning agenda, which is "ensuring that the children of the Springboro community receive an excellent education while keeping costs of that quality education affordable, by carefully adhering to responsible spending."
Mr. Petrey often testified praise and worship of the many honors that Mr. Malone had grown accustomed to expecting from our SEA members and our brainwashed SHS students, one of whom proclaimed in the local news that "her education could NOT thrive without her smile and have a nice day" encounter with the insanely popular SHS principal. And Mr. Petrey once said in honor of Mr. Malone's 41 years of experience in education, that it would take hiring three younger Professional Educators to do his job!
How hypocritical it that when all along Mr. Petrey was quite knowledgeable of the fact that Mr. Malone was running our SHS like a union shop, making up classes with scant demand to ensure employment for those whose skills were not in demand. This tact robbed resources from areas of greater need in the district. Those who suffered the most were the gifted and those in need of early intervention.
Our entire community of SEA Union Solidarity for SURE joined in the promotion of electing this insanely popular Mr. Malone (who has been a SHS principal for 13 years) and a successful school board election campaign was run on the Boro Alumni's "endorsement" that Mr.Malone would win because he was "insanely popular." Unfortunately, the true history of a man called Ron Malone through official documents written by third party observers did not get promoted throughout the community before election day; and some voting residents did not receive this truth in the mail until the day after the school board election.
Now that Ron Malone is an elected board representative and "most valuable person" on the MSA team, Mr. Petrey has stepped into the boardroom bully pulpit, leading the praise and worship services of the "honors" due this great man, by becoming Ron Malone's "helping hands" in passing the collection plate for New Taxes, as this union controlled board majority stupidly wastes our hard earned school tax dollars, while our students first needs are left behind trapped in moreRon's status quo of past failed practices.

Todd Petrey Does It All For SURE!...... is the Vision and Mission Statement for the future of our school children and community under the union controlled leadership of boardpresident and vicepresident, Charles Anderson and Ron Malone.
Why is Todd Petrey wasting $12,000 plus of our children's school tax dollars, Paying It Forward, for the next year of Jeff Stec's citizens for civic renewal community meetings?
Isn't Jeff Stec a personal friend of Todd Petrey; and is it true that Jeff and Todd worked together at Lakota school district? Is it true that this Jeff Stec's levy promotion helped Lakota pass a school levy, after three failed ones? If so, then why did Todd Petrey tell Springboro taxpayers that his Many Voices Project, led by Jeff Stec, was not about a new levy campaign?
Number One - Isn't Petrey's District Policy committee made up of about 85% SEA staff members, who are making "recommendations" to Petrey's Mission and Vision Team?
Number Two - Hasn't Todd Petrey denied during public school board meetings,
the volunteer service on his district policy committee of one Springboro parent (who is a former school board president/Policy Committee member) declaring that he already had all the parents "voices" that he needed to hear from; and isn't that ONE voice only pro-levy, anti-children first, liberal union activist for S-U-R-E?
Number Three - Then why not end this waste of tax dollars to an outside facilitator, Jeff Stec, and accept the truth that hurts our kids that, simply put, Todd Petrey Does It All For S-U-R-E
payback to those parents among us, who worked with the SEA politics of personal destruction, tearing down good public servants elected as board representatives and the progress made during the past two years, doing what's right for our schools and community?
Number Four - Why would Todd Petrey lead his staff in the backward direction of putting re-emphasis on maintaining status quo, promoting false budget crisis trying to justify running continuous streams of new levies, when that failed practice of past previous school leaders led to the district's financial instability; and was the reason why Petrey left employment in the Springboro schools?
Number Five - Is there any doubt of another motive, except for sheer laziness and greed of "elitist" lusting among our Springboro Education Association members?
... and that is what union solidarity (anti-children) looks like under the union controlled leadership of board members Charles Anderson, Ron Malone, and David Stuckey.
"But by the November 2011 school board election in which two (2) additional "fiscally conservative" candidates won seats, SEA knew it was time to step it up, especially since negotiations were to commence in March 2013. The school board was freely stating its plans to move to a merit pay system, bring health insurance in line with the private sector and have teachers work in the same rigorous manner as others in the community."

Censorship reigns supreme if you post something the union does not care for on this blog.

Mr. Malone enjoys blowing the horn about the joys of PROFICIENT.
But then again when question what constituted PROFICIENT, Mr. Malone stated he did not know that sort of thing.
Let us all remind him that in the 7th grade PROFICIENT on the Ohio Achievement Assessment tests is 34%-56%.
Make it a point to tell him how proud you are to have a child who after 7 years in the math program in Springboro is grasping less than half of the material.

I put the data up for the Class of 2018 regarding their math test results on the Ohio Achievement Assessment tests in 7th grade.
That would be post numbers 31738 and 31739
Less than 1 out of 4 managed to score 75% or better
The same students spent a year with a new math program from Pearson's that we were trial testing as an ebook.
For all of the hoopla attended to this program an individual may be tempted to believe it would be a raving success.
Au contraire, the Class of 2018's math test results from this years Ohio Achievement Assessment test reveals better than a 30% drop in students able to score at least 75% on the basic standardized math test.
Fewer than 1 out of 6 is now able to master at least 75% of the material.
Fewer than 1 out of 6 after one more year in our math program can now score 75% or better on a state standardized math test in the 8th grade.
PROFICIENT equals FAILURE

The fault is not in our children, they are merely reflecting the results generated by our program of studies.
Out of 500 plus kids in the Class of 2018 that just spent two years at the junior high school, we find fewer than 100 of them that are able to score at least 75% on the basic state math test administered across the state.
For some districts perhaps these are numbers to rave about. In the community of Springboro I believe we have a solid set of higher expectations.
This is not a cause of needing more money for ever more teachers to help.
We have plenty of resources available to manage the needs of our children at hand.
This is a matter of allocation of those resources from areas of less need to areas of greater need.
It is also a matter of too much reliance on the fads of the day rather than the boring mastery of times and division tables through rote memorization.
An example is that most working people know their social security number, how did they learn that number? Most generally from rote usage while filling out job applications or other forms calling for the information. Sooner or later after you have filled it out for the umpteenth time you come to know the number by heart.
While some of this may be less exciting to the actual instructors, it remains a highly effective model of information transfer. It also provides the children with the ability to quickly master a needed skill. Possessing the ability to regurgitate necessary correct answers is a skill sorely lacking in many of today's high school graduates that were PROFICIENT, thus limiting them in participation in the work force of tomorrow.

If you are so unhappy with Springboro schools and the District, you do have other options available to you! You can send your children to private schools (and complain there), home school or send your children to another district that has 'open enrollment'.
BUT for the love of God get a life and stop tearing down our district and the incredible and dedicated teachers that we have.
This district has too many positive things going for it!
My children have received nothing but the best as far as teachers and their instruction and my children have the grades and test scores to prove it.
Stop with the rants - move on to something else that matters!

Congratulations on your children being in the 1 out of 6 who received a good education.
I am glad you got yours, but what about all of the children who received less than a full education?
Shall we just ignore their plight? After all, they are not your or my kids.
Exactly how will that help the children who are not receiving the education which the taxpayers of this school district are funding?
If our incredible and dedicated teachers were so concerned with our children perhaps they would join me in finding solutions to the problems that we face. Historical data collected and tabulated by the state of Ohio suggest that this in not a new problem but one that has been ongoing for well over a decade.
Perusing the results of our historical data for our school district we find history continually repeating itself. At what point do we begin doing something that educates all of our children rather than merely employ adults?
I am more concerned about educating all of our children, raising our educational standards to levels that befit our community, and ensuring that as many children as possible matriculate with a real education rather than one sustained by excuses.
Your solution to shut up and go away will not serve those children who are not receiving the education they were promised, they deserve, and the taxpayers are generously funding.
If you wish to deride my interpretation of the data, please feel free to point out where I am incorrect in my assertions and your reasons for believing such.
As I have noted in the past, no one has yet to debate the real points of contention.

As for me and my household of voters, we choose to Follow The Truth; elections come and go, but only the Truth will set Springboro families free of the SEA campaign enslavement of FEAR (false evidence appearing real) fighting AGAINST our school children and taxpaying homeowners.
Our Springboro community will always have a voter population who will never vote AGAINST our strong principals of Truth and Freedom, even amongst a Majority of Losers blindly following Dr. Ron Malone (who has been an insanely popular SHS principal
and known emotional manipulator of our Springboro students) as proven in the November 2013 school board election, all in the name of his own praise and glory as professional educator with 41 years experience. Truth is, everything that is popular is not RIGHT; and everything that is RIGHT is not popular.
IF our Springboro schools belong to the "public" and IF we are all in this together as ONE community, as our MVP suggests, then why are some followers of Insane Popularity in our community always lashing out at others to "get out" ....BUT, don't forget to leave your MONEY behind for the greedy SEA union activists for SURE to greedily profit from by "silencing the truth?"

On second thought - stop with the rants of how incredible and dedicated are teachers that we have, and move on to something else that matters, such as:
-Moving forward with merit pay increases based on teacher performance, not longevity
-Bringing public service union members' insurance dues in line with private sector expenses
-Requiring Springboro school teachers to work for their "daily bread" in the same rigorous manner in which are expected of community members in the private sector.
-Stop wasting taxpayers money sitting around "on the job" plotting against Springboro families who hold beliefs that are different from those of Union Solidarity - including beliefs that it is wrong for the local government to overtax its citizens.
-Stop the rants of Many Voices Project costing taxpayers $12,000 for our school superintendent to "hear" from Springboro residents; during which time the Board of Education President, Charles Anderson, refuses to respond to his Constitutents' questions regarding important school district issues.
What is your REPLY to your thoughts on these Matters?
OR, will these Matters just be ignored and deleted, along with other Truths that are being deleted on this public blog?

I very much disagree with you.
Mr. Wiedeman's points are completely valid. Springboro's students aren't all that much better off than the average US public educated student. Now compare the US versus the world. Of course there isn't an argument. US students are lagging behind.
What does all this boil down to? I believe Wiedeman's argument in a nutshell is that in order to improve OAA/OGT test scores, the state continues to quietly lower its bar of expectations. This is a political nut-and-shell game to hang as many "A" for "Excellent" banners in as many district windows as possible. Why might they do that, and intentionally damage the future of our children? The answer's relatively simple:
Even when things aren't going especially well, there's a lot of (weak) people in this (and other) communities who like to be comforted, and TOLD things are going well for them
Personally as a Boro parent, I believe K-12 kids are better than any other age group in dealing with stressful adversity, such as preparing for especially difficult tests. Most certainly, they're a lot better at it than a select group of Boro teachers that are too liberally opinionated in front of our children in the classrooms, much too underqualified, and/or much too burnt out in their careers to effectively teach children any longer!
