It is agreed that our community has had Enough of Dr. Malone using our students to his own self-glory; but those good old days are over now that Malone is in the board room. You can Keep Your Belief in him; Just Keep his hands out of the pockets of Springboro families.

It has already been proven (along with Malone's true history of past failed practices) that this school district doesn't need more money; it just needs more accountability.

Malone will need more than quite a few votes for his position on School Tax Increases. The only thing our community made clear is that even an under-performing, arrogantly rude and quite lazy-minded "has been a principal for the PAST thirteen years" really can win election on name recognition; and a well-funded two-year advertising campaign. Malone is mistaken if he thinks the community was voting him number two board meeting so that he could raise taxes to feed his addiction for more, more, more dues for the union. Enough is Enough.

I it is all about efficiently and effectively educating ALL of the children of this district to the utmost of the children's potential.

It costs money to educate our children, 80% of our school district budget is dedicated towards human resources. How we utilize that expenditure to maximize the amount of knowledge our children receive is the issue.

For all of everyone's protestations about this being for the kids, this is not an altruistic calling, NO ONE is working for free in education.

What we do expect is that our tax dollars are spent with the well being of the children's education first and foremost in budgeting our scarce tax dollars.

Reward our teachers who do outstanding work, and punitively reward those whose performance is substandard.

Don't bother with Mr. Wiedeman. He is a hypocrite as has been illustrated many times. He holds a much higher standard for others than he does himself. He counsels others not to call people names and attack others, yet he attacks Dr. Malone relentlessly. He tells people to provide proof of their comments, yet does not provide any proof of his own comments. He throws out numbers such as the $1,000,000 like it is fact, when he himself stated the prosecutor could not PROVE any more than what Mr. Harves was charged with. If you repeat something enough, even without PROOF, he believes it makes it fact.
Please, at least know your definitions, such as for hypocrisy,

a feigning to be what one is not or to believe what one does not; especially : the false assumption of an appearance of virtue or religion

Regarding poor Mr. Malone, I report merely the facts as his professional peers report in audit reviews of his program and yearly evaluations report on his performance.

The prosecutor was forced to rely on Mr. Harves "word of honor", because for some reason no one had eve bothered to verify or keep records of anything. Are you suggesting that a man brazen enough to write checks to himself from funds raised to support our children's activities never took a dime from the bags of uncounted cash sitting on his kitchen table?

Mr. Malone we are lead to believe was all about supporting our children and watching over them with his benevolent eye. Somehow he managed to overlook the fact that the Booster Club supporting his athletes had not filed a tax return since 2005. The groups you depend upon to support the schools should be of some concern to a normal administrator.

If a chowder head like myself can see holes in this process after working in those concession stands just once, how would a genius like Mr. Malone be unable to discern these shortcomings over a 12 year period?

And don't get me started on his feigned ignorance of the standards for PROFICIENT on the Ohio Graduation Tests.

My concern is genuine for the education of ALL of the children of this district, that funds raised for the children actually get to the children, and our academic standards reflect our communities high expectations rather than a state mandated low bar.

Q # 1...How many attendees of last night's PULSE meeting at SHS have attended a school board meeting since Ron Malone was sworn in?
Q # 2 ...If Malone continues this current habit of being an absolute jerkoff in the board room, how long before his pseudo-identity of being (ahem) "insanely popular" is exposed as being nothing more than a SHS fantasy game of smoke and mirrors?
Ron Malone ought to publically apologize in the board room for USING the youth of this community during the 13 years he was principal at SHS!!

I have looked and looked and cannot find where the top cap is on common core. I see it as a set of what kids across this country will learn at a minimum. I see no maximum in the system.
Doesn't it seem logical that children, regardless of where they are born, have access to the same (minimum) education as everyone else? Children can't control where they are born. By focusing in most of the curriculum we keep public schools from teaching other non-essential subjects.
So if anyone can show me in the common core where it tells me what's the MOST a child can learn, it would appreciate it.
The maximum is endless. It's no different than the Ohio standards of the last several years. The standards set before you are the minimum. As teachers differentiate instruction, a requirement under the new evaluation system, they increase the rigor of the standards even more for students who need it. However, the notion that these standards are easy to begin with is completely erroneous. They are harder than what Ohio had before the core came along.

You will find scores plummet across the nation. Be prepared for scores everywhere to be awful. In part, the number of tests in and of itself is ridiculous. Next year's Ohio sophomores will be required to take 17 tests, some of them requiring multiple hours and sessions. Not only is that much testing simply ridiculous, but also it takes away from instructional time. Bitch all you want about Springboro, but I'd lay money on the fact that Our scores won't be good, but they'll be among the best around. Don't like the test? The scoring? Etc.? You're barking up the wrong tree. Your issue should be with the state!

Now that the 2013 negotiations are finished, Maney has shifted away from the previous focus of current employees pay / compensation. He's now focusing on attempting to re-establish a bunch of useless elective courses so that more teachers may be hired. Of couse, the hiring of more teachers will mean more working revenue for the SEA.
Why do we have school employees running their mouths? That's an excellent question! Quite a number of students at our schools would like to know the answer to this as well.
Why are you so uninformed yet pretend to know everything? Maney isn't even there anymore.

I'd say it's time school district decision makers like Sprinboro's John Pennell begin to tune out the perennial wimps on the Weather Channel. When the schools are closed for nothing more than cold temperatures, what kind of example are we sending our kids? When the schools are closed for nothing more than cold weather, what kind of message are we sending to our children about potential lucrative lifelong careers as linemen, pipefitters, electricians, etc?

Weather too cold for our students to get out to school?
Did anybody else notice around town during these schools-closed days the crowds of parents and their young children milling around in shopping malls, local restaurants,
public libraries, etc? Anybody else hear parents complaining about cabin fever and just needing to get the kids out of the house; Or hear parents complaining about their work schedules being disrupted because school employee John Pennell "feels" like it is too cold for kids to go to school?
What a bunch of wimps our Springboro school leaders are proving themselves to be! No backbone or resolution to instill the will of mind over matter! Aren't our educators supposed to be the wind beneath the wings of our students? But instead, aren't we stuck with a bunch of educators in Springboro Schools that just want to gather our students under their wings and hunker down in their comfort zone; for fear they will ruffle some feathers for S-U-R-E; and receive the same false demonization of their character, that for S-U-R-E was launched against Springboro Parent, Kelly Kohls, during the last four years of Dr.Kohls' responsible good service to our school children and community, as Board of Education elected official.

As proven in the true history of Superintendent Gene Lolli's annual performance evaluation of Mr. Malone stating:
"Mr. Malone does demonstrate the ability to affect change, but sometimes very reluctantly. It sometimes takes numerous requests by Superintendent before changes are implemented."
"Mr. Malone needs to IMPROVE on getting request goals to the Superintendent in a timely fashion. Examples include: Requested schedule of events for delayed start at the beginning of the year, at semester, and last week and have not yet received. Also requested times and dates of all staff meetings and quarterly updates on the High Schools That Work per 2011-2012 job targets."
For the record, you can learn more about Mr. Malone's reluctance to work in cooperation
with school policies and by-laws and work closely with Parents in collecting necessary school fees. During the 2012-2013 school year, when Mr. Malone was employed as high school principal, attention was brought to public meeting that building principals had failed in their responsibility to collect school fees.(It does appear that our former principal feared losing his reputation of being insanely popular IF he acted on school policy; collecting from parents these past due student fees.) That's the way it was when Mr. Malone run our SHS in his arrogantly rude under-performing leadership.
Did you notice there is no Reluctance whatsoever in the leadership of our New SHS principal who is sending this Alarm to our students' parents who are now past due in $250,000 school fees....
Attention Parents:
School Fees are Past Due
More than $250,000 of school fees are still unpaid for the 2014-2015 year, and this directly impacts school operations. If you have paid this year's school fees, thank you.
If your child has unpaid school fees (and/or fines), there will be a student fee invoice in their report card tomorrow. In the event school fees are not paid in full or payment arrangements are not made with your school building's main office by January 31, 2014, we are required by board policy 6152 to enforce the following:
• Turn off Progress Book (Note: If you have multiple students linked to one account, that account will be turned off.) If you need assistance with Progress Book, contact your building secretary.
• Withhold report cards and credits.
• Prohibit participation in high school commencement.
• Prohibit participation in school-sponsored activities, groups, or organizations such as instrumental and interscholastic athletic programs, field day, vocal music performances, and all other programs outside the regular school day.
Accumulated unpaid fees in excess of $300 by the end of the school year will be subject to a legal fee collection process.
Once again, if you have unpaid school fees, please make immediate payment via EZ-Pay or contact your building’s main office to make payment arrangements no later than January 31, 2014.
Right, an Lolli got tired of being bullied by KPR so he left.

Well we know that Mr. Harves wrote checks to himself over a seven year period totaling $438,000. The prosecutor stated that was as much as they could prove because banks are only required to hold records for seven years and no one else had any other records. That comes to $62,571 per year.
Does anybody out there seriously believe that a man who is brazen enough to write checks to themselves to the tune of $62,571 per year from a non-profit organization charged with raising money for children, would be above taking cash from the bags of uncounted cash, generated throughout the year from various fund raisers, just sitting on his kitchen table?
Since no one bothered to count or verify the monies, or keep any type of records, the prosecutor could not charge the man with anything in that regard. Nor could they find any other records previous to the 7 years the banks had on record.
Mr. Harves was treasurer for the entire 13 years Mr. Malone tenure. Mr. Harves was inducted into the Springboro Hall of Fame a few short months before Mr. Petroni and Mr. Rigano's dogged pursuit of the truth about funding led him to give up the ghost.
Does anyone seriously believe that Mr. Harves only began his embezzlement career during the time frame the bank kept records?
Does anyone seriously believe that Mr. Harves had the moral fiber and character to resist the temptation of uncounted bags of cash sitting on his kitchen table year after year?
Why would Mr. Harves feel so secure in writing checks to himself year after year after year?
Because he knew he had nothing to fear from the administration?
Mr. Malone did not appear to exert any of his influence on the Boosters to cooperate with the Board's Budget and Finance Committee and to provide the requested financial information. In fact, Mr Malone looks as though he may have been operating in the other direction, the one of obstruction and obfuscation.
Why have we been unable to discover who nominated the treasurer of the Boosters, Mr. Harves, for inclusion in the Springboro Hall of Fame?
Why did Mr. Holtrey explain that the reason there were no IRS filings after 2005 for the Boosters was because the boosters did not raise enough money to be required to file?(The amount at that time was just $25,000 for filing requirements.)
You do the math, over a thirteen year period, that would amount to roughly $77,000 per year.
I guess Mr. Malone just wasn't close enough too notice that kind of penny ante discrepancy year after year after year.
In other words, you grossly exaggerated the amount. Ok, gotcha.

No offense, but I don't think you know the first thing about education. All you care about is your taxes, which I'm not even disagreeing with. Leave the education of our kids to the people who know what the hell they're doing. Recognize that you are not one of these people. You are not an expert in this area, not even close. Leave it to the people who know what they're doing. Yes, people can care about kids, care about teachers, care about the bottom line, etc. at the same time. We can thank the Lord that "when one door closes in ones's opportunity to serve others; another door opens, often with greater responsibility! Springboro parent and good neighbor, Kelly Kohls, is just the kind of public servant that will always have a work to do in service to others, doing what's right, whether or not it is the popular thing with the established status quo. That's why no matter which way political parties and elections go, Kelly Kohls will always be a winner.

We can give thanks that a door of opportunity, of greater responsibility, in our local community is now open to Kelly. Let's Rejoice and spread the great news! It could be that we now have the benefit of hearing more of what our former BOE president Kelly Kohls had to say to Springboro Families; because this is exactly what we want to hear from our current BOE members (including Ron Malone):

Kohls explained,“We have listened to our community. We are committed to providing a quality education, being fiscally prudent and being as fair to our employees as is possible in these difficult economic times. The board is also driven by a ‘Children First’ budget that takes into account all aspects of our children’s education.”

Now those are Inspiring and Encouraging Words for the future of our school children and community! Thanks, Kelly!
