Maybe its not the test but our preparation methodology for taking the test. In other words maybe our children are not being taught all they need to pass these basic tests.

Math is a very objective subject, there is only one right answer on these basic tests.

You betcha "Not Here" in Boro will Ron Malone get a second chance to dumb down our curriculum, using our high school program of studies to make up classes with scant demand to ensure employment for those union teachers whose skills were not in demand.

You betcha "Not Here" in Boro will Ron Malone and those for S-U-R-E get by with tearing down the good reputation of our reform minded elected officials who are just being honest with the community; who are telling Springboro Families that we can no longer INVEST in Ron Malone's status quo failed practices of the past....Our retired educators, Ron Malone and David Stuckey, must get on board with our Community-Wide Vision of Reform for the future of our school district's financial sustainability.

As the man who led our school district as high school principal for 13 years, Ron Malone held a special place of trust, authority, and influence in our community; but for the past two years since March 2012, Mr. Malone has chosen to use those good gifts of influence to demonize the reputation of reform minded board members, simply because these board members Tried and Succeeded in making some State-mandated changes and further ASKED tough questions.

Mr. Malone's True History was kept hidden from the majority of community voters under the Union Label of "insanely popular." But, Whew! Thanks to "The More You Know" about Ron Malone, the Smarter You Grow in the direction of Common Sense!

A year ago, our district faced a sort of "perfect storm" with needs for EVERYTHING from buses and books to technology and staffing coming to the surface at the same time! Through good management and some good fortune, our once rudderless ship emerged from that storm with clear leadership and direction. Clearly there are still challenges, but we are moving in the direction of putting Children First.

Whew! School board elections come and go and even insane popularity tends to lose its glow....(and Two retired educators out of Five elected board members do not a majority of retired educators make)... but clear, common sense leadership and direction putting Children First gives our school district employees and school district taxpayers, working together, a unifying direction that extends beyond any individual (including Ron Malone, who has been a principal of the SHS building in the PAST years of 2000-2013).

The time has now come to take the spotlight off former high school principal Ron Malone. All parents should be alert to checking out the good things that are happening every day in schools, including the High School. Our new high school principal deserves a note of thanks and appreciation! Check out the building principals daily updates and remember to take time to e-mail a thank you when you see our leadership putting our students first!

Check the Springboro Schools Website .... where these encouraging words to grow on are found.......

Springboro is an exceptional district with an experienced and dedicated staff as well as involved families and strong community support.
Long-held Panther traditions are merging with the expectations of a changing world. Many top careers didn’t even exist ten years ago, and our students are growing up immersed in technology. Today we are creating a 21st Century learning environment where all children are encouraged to succeed in the globally and digitally connected world.
Our commitment to students is demonstrated in all aspects of operations, including differentiated instruction, investments in technology and STEM initiatives, and building a Pre K through 12 continuous curriculum. With the input of staff, administrators and the community, we continually update district goals to maintain our balanced budget and also dedicate resources to academics, community engagement, finance, safety and facilities.
Springboro Schools perform very well. As we adopt the new Common Core curriculum, new teacher and principal evaluation systems, new testing, standards and technology, Springboro is poised to set a new standard for excellence.
Thank you for staying informed and involved. There is a lot being said about our schools. Be sure to stay connected to us through this website. Use the E-Communication Registration link above to receive our district communication as well as the principal’s updates from any of our six school buildings.

Not really when you look at the level of penetration the truth received in the past election. Once the level of consciousness is raised people begin looking at things from a different perspective. Remember that Goldwater was slaughtered at the polls in 1964 in the aftermath of the Kennedy assassination, yet went on to a well respected and productive two decades in the Senate. Much of what he ran upon as is memorialized in Ronald Reagan's speech supporting Goldwater "A Time For Choosing". Well worth the time to listen, you will be stunned and amazed by its perspicacity.

Hahaha.... I think All Springboro families are laughing all the way to the Bank, benefitting from the honesty of our Board members belief that it is wrong to over tax the people (even if the people don't know it) and being honest with what is actually needed through 2017 with renewal levy that saves taxpayers $6.5 million! Now seriously, This if reform at the local level, and this is working together toward sustainability...... Just Priceless!

This is a basic test designed to see what our children know and don't know. In math there is only one answer at these levels that answers the question.

The state provides the students the formulas for the math tests as is evidenced by direction 3 of the test booklet.

3. Refer to the Mathematics Reference Sheet in your Student Test Booklet for mathematical formulas and expressions. You may remove this page from your Student Test Booklet.

(Children don't have to even know the formulas any longer, the state provides them as part of the test. Back in the day they teachers would have referred to that behavior as cheating and a slam at their individual teaching skill.)

The blueprint for the test construction may be found with the below link.

http://education.ohio.gov/getattachment/Topic...

The 8th grade math test is composed of three sections of low, medium, and high degree of difficulty.

Low complexity questions account for 25-35% of your test points.
Low complexity questions requires recall of facts and definitions or performing routine, specified procedures.

Medium complexity questions account for 40-50% of your test points.
Medium complexity questions requires some interpretation or multi-step problem solutions.

High complexity questions account for 15-25% of your test points.
High complexity questions requires analysis of or justifying reasoning and solution for more complicated problem situations.

32 questions out of 38 are multiple choice.

I don't believe they are asking our children questions that are not covered in their text books.

Maybe if we just taught the material in the text books well, the test would take care of themselves.

Here is the link to the practice tests

Our former BOE president stated SEVERAL times that it's the BOE's responsibility to set the curriculum. Your ire should be placed where it belongs with the BOE that was in place AT THE TIME. I didn't know the H.S. principal held more power than the superintendent or the BOE.

Only Ron Malone is delusional enough to Think that he held more power than the superintendent or the BOE.

As proven in the true history of a man through official documents written by third party observers, Ron Malone as the SHS principal for thirteen years, did not hold more power than the superintendent or the BOE. Proven by Ron Malone's choice of behavior in March 2012,
Ron Malone's projected attitude only held more contempt, disrespect, disregard, and rude arrogance in violation of the authority of power held by the superintendent and the BOE.

People on THIS board are the delusional ones. They are the ones that blame HIM for the curriculum. Thanks for proving my point. Anyone critiquing the curriculum should be putting the blame where it belongs (according to our former BOE president) and BLAME THE FORMER BOE.

There is a difference.....
Discussions with two sides of an issue are debates of points and counterpoints.

I make the assertion we can and must do better for the children, you make the assertion we can and must do better for the union.

Two distinctly different points of view brought forth in the forum we both enjoy.
