If history is an indicator, the 7th grade scores will find those passing ranging from 20-30% of the class.

Mr. Blakely, the principal at the junior high, has had only this year to implement changes to reverse this trend, but the truth is we are not doing as well as our stated 40% gifted population would suggest.

Mr. Blakely has a tendency to fall back on the "well we do better than other districts" excuse for our performance.

Unfortunately that does not prepare our children as adequately as we would hope for the future.

We have the resources, the students, the teachers, the administration, and the infrastructure to excel and set our own standard of educational excellence that reflects our community members' goals and expectations for our children.

The only question remaining is do we have the will to do what is right?

Inquiring Minds are asking "The More You Know" .... Why the same old business as usual status quo blah blah blah?

Why Not Answer the Question: Does our new board have the will to do what is right in the direction of financial sustainability and opportunity for all our students, school employees and school district voters/taxpayers?

Why not ask a question that can be answered! If I had the ability to read the "minds" or "will" of the current board I may be able to answer your question. Considering that isn't possible the question you pose is absolutely absurd.

I guess we should expect that from an "inquiring" mind as opposed to one that already has their mind made up and can think for itself.

We've been trying to tell you that Anderson is not a fan of the KPR era. You kept trying to pretend that it was your side's idea to put him on the board. He campaigned with Malone and Stuckey for a reason. Now your posts suggest that you are realizing that Anderson will not be all that supportive of the pizza guys. Get it now?
@The More You Know comments:

The only thing we can question about "the more you know" about the mind and will of board members Anderson, Malone, and Stuckey is projected in these comments by "Now do you
believe us."

Inquiring Minds would ask "now do you believe us" HOW do you know the will and mind of Anderson, who you say "will not be all that supportive of the pizza guys?"

WE BELIEVE the only thing YOU know is the self-serving strategy of politics of personal destruction, discrediting the good reputation of those elected officials who have greater leadership skills than the newly elected BOE members; distorting the truth of progress made in the last two years, engaging in FEAR tactics (false evidence appearing real) in trying to cover up the true history of Ron Malone's failed leadership practices, as the man who led our school district as high school principal for the PAST 13 years.

WE BELIEVE that Ron Malone can no longer ride the coattails of Mr. Anderson's popular vote of being Number One "Hope" in the board room, with the responsibility as BOE President, of leading our Two retired educators (Malone/Stuckey) way beyond their tunnel vision of their "Hope"........ to re-instate Malone's 2012 Vote for Revenge Protest Against Our school district's Vision of Reform.

WE BELIEVE that Ron Malone's main concern that "There needs to be a re-emphasis on the value of the educator" is NOW Charles Anderson's concern to determine. Exactly which "physical part of education" (safe buses; building/property maintenance; classroom curriculum resources, etc.) does Mr. Malone want Mr. Anderson to take money from in our five year budget forecast; so that the re-emphasis can be on the educator's Increased Wages and Compensation/Benefits packages in the upcoming Teacher Contract Negotiations (during which time Mr. Malone, as 2014 BOE VP, is positioned to be
2015 BOE President)?

According to the new 2013 ODE High School Report Card, 22% of our high school students scored 65% or below on the OGT (Ohio Graduation

According to the new 2013 ODE High School Report Card, 22% of our high school students scored 65% or below on the OGT (Ohio Graduation Test) last year. One in Four of our students fail the State standardized test. How could that be when we Taxpayers have been told that 40% of our students are gifted? Someone is dropping the ball big time. Who is accountable for this poor performance?

The Truth is found in the History of a man who led our school district as high school principal for 13 years, Ron Malone, who held a special place of trust, authority, and influence in our community. How he chose to WASTE those gifts is revealed by his own PUBLIC PROUNCEMENT of spreading lies throughout our community in his March 2012 community wide Protest Against the Board of Education's authority to transfer a Principal that is under-performing.

As a taxpaying citizen in this school district, I believe IF there were "mis-steps made by our March 2012 board members (Scott Anderson, Don Miller,Kelly Kohls, Jim Rigano and David Petroni)
then it would have to be their Failure to Fire Dr. Ron Malone and tell Springboro Taxpayers the true history of his misallocation of district and taxpayer resource, running our high school like a union shop, making up classes with scant demand to ensure employment for those whose skills were not in demand. This tactic robbed resources from areas of greater need in the district. Those who suffered the most were the gifted and those in need of early intervention.

Isn't it ironic that Mr. Malone, who (in my own opinion) led a Vote for Revenge "witch hunt" (politics of personal destruction) throughout this school district for Two years against Kelly Kohls, Jim Rigano, and David Petroni, has now been rewarded by election to school board?

Stay Alert Voters! This group won't allow their Shallow Victory at the 2013 polls to stop their "witch hunt" AGAINST Springboro Taxpayers and our Children First! They are hurting Our Kids in the Classroom and Our Springboro citizens by their hatred of our school district's Vision of Reform; and will stop at nothing to discredit the progress made in the past two years, by board members Jim Rigano and David Petroni, who have successfully interrupted their political agenda with the implementation of Children First Budget.

Last board meeting we witnessed the rude arrogance of Ron Malone, as he mis-used, again, the TRUST of BOE elected office and his influence in this community, proving to Springboro Taxpayers that he cares only about pushing our Children First OUT of the boardroom; defining his role of school board member as "running our school district like a union shop," just like he ran our high school; to the detriment of our school children and our community.

Hey, vote down levies, so the kids become Purdue Shooters!
Either now, or 6-8 years ago, when the Purdue shooter was a Springboro high school student, do you believe voters in this district would collectively support a levy that would raise the capital necessary to put resourse officers all six Springboro instructional facilities?
Guns are not the problem in our schools. The problem lies in the overall mental health of our society.

In the future, school shootings may begin to be stemmed if mental health problems are better detected from early childhood into adolesence. In almost all of America's school shootings, school resource officers, police and SWAT show up in just enough time to watch the suicide, wipe up blood, take names, and wait for the coroner. Sure, more money and resourses may be applied to updating building perimeter security measues, improving camera angles, etc. There is certainly nothing wrong with a wise strategy of immediately reporting any unusual out-of-the-norm activity going on around any specific school facility. However, make no mistake about it. The first line of defense against school gun attack are properly trained, undisclosed, ARMED individuals who are already in the principal offices, already in the school's halls, already in the school's gym, already in the school's classrooms. In each building, we need volunteer staff with trained conceal and carry to be there in those precious seconds after 911 has been called, and bullets have already begun to fly.

Most importantly, undisclosed conceal carry serves as a better deterrant to a school attack because in "planned" school attack scenario, an attacker would not know the identities of conceal carry, and thus, would be more likely to bail out of their plan. In the event of an unplanned attack, neither the presence of either conceal carry or uniformed resource officers makes much of a difference in terms of being a deterrent.

On the contrary, in shootings where someone was armed and fought back, the attacks quickly flagged with the realization that these were not the sheep the shooter sought.

The ability to return fire is huge in such a situation, as anywhere armed opposition occurred we find casualties are fewer and the rampage shorter.

A standard I'm sure YOU live up to.(unless you count backing candidates).

The questions you pose have NO bearing on the community WHATSOEVER. The oratory is repetitive and seems to be falling on deaf ears for over a year now.

Did You Know ..... According to the Boro E News for January 23, 2014, more than $250,000 of school fees are still unpaid AND this directly IMPACTS school operations?

Check out the facts and consequences for students if parents do not pay this fee for their own students by the deadline date of January 31, 2014, on the Springboro Schools website.

Did You Know that last year (2013) when Unpaid fees by Parents of school children were being discussed in the public board meetings that Ron Malone (who was employed as insanely popular SHS principal with the union activists/pro levy lovers) endorsed an UnNecessary May 2013 proposed CCFD fire levy 93% tax increase on every Springboro Family in the Clearcreek/Springboro voting district?

Did You Know that Ron Malone, Charles Anderson, and David Stuckey all three were FOR over-taxing Springboro families the FULL $9.2 million Renewal Levy BEFORE they supported the honest amount needed in Reduced Renewal Levy saving Springboro Families $6.5 million, putting Our Students First while maintaining fiscal integrity within the framework of our Children First Budget?

Did You Know that board appointments will be made at the January 23 public BOE meeting to influential committees; and that most likely the arrogant votes of Mr. Anderson, Mr. Malone and Mr. Stuckey will throw Our Children First and Budget Transparency out of the board room; shutting out the Voice of the Community, just as previous board members practiced in the bad old days of the good of Baker boys days?

Here's a clue for you. Stop worrying about placing Boro's students in context with neighboring school districts, or for that matter, with peers around the rest of America. If you step back and examine the bigger picture, the lion's share of America's kids are pretty much floating in the same boat with each other. Collectively, this nations kids are lagging behind almost all of the rest of the industrialized world. If we're sincere about our childrens' futures, we've got to be placing their education standards in context with that of their global competition.
