And the People Said Amen. The above comments are the gospel truth.
Remember the time the SEA officer stood up to "shame and blame"
parents of students, calling out their names in public meeting,
because the SEA teacher did not agree with the parents differing opinions regarding new school levies?
Hell hath no fury like the SEA officers.... left holding an empty collection plate by common sense voters, who just say No New Taxes, standing on the principles of putting students first while maintaining fiscal integrity. And that's a good thing for our children, our community, and toward a better future for our schools!
Stay Alert Voters -- the above post is typical of the SEA union activists engaging in OEA politics of personal destruction, while refusing to acknowledge the truth about the good work being done
within the framework of our school district's reform minded vision of Children's First Budget. Springboro citizens have seen bullying attacks on Kelly Kohls, grandstanding false evidence appearing real, in our board meetings and in the local news media circus since Kelly Kohls came on board in 2010.

Truth is, the SEA cannot stand BUDGET TRANSPARENCY and fiscal responsibility, and the SEA cannot stand the Taxpaying "Outsiders" involved in "Their" union business (which is highly profitable ONLY for the union)in our public board meetings, "asking questions" about misallocations of taxpayers money and school district resources.

Kelly Kohls is the first board member ever to publicly state in a business meeting that the board should listen to the community of
taxpayers AND listen to the school community of students and school employees! And from the January 2010 beginning of this Springboro parent's good service as board representative,
she has been bullied, harassed, demonized, and falsely accused of not having the right in her "elected position" to serve our school children and community! And since January 2012, both Jim Rigano and David Petroni have been included in this hostile OEA War of Words launched against Springboro taxpayers.
This on-going hostile Red Ribbon protest against Board members having no respect for our school teachers is nothing but status quo symbolism of pro-levy union solidarity against our reform minded school board representatives and Springboro taxpayers.
There is no PROOF that our Springboro BOE members, nor our Springboro taxpayers, have no respect for teachers!

There is PROOF of NEGOTIATED CONTRACT, that "Employees across the district will see their compensation increase! This agreement RECOGNIZES the contribution and value teachers and other certified staff provide our students and provides them a SIGNIFICANT INCREASE in compensation for that! Special Thanks to all our
quality school district employees for choosing to serve our school children and community, making Springboro a great place to live, work, learn, and play sports!

Welcome Aboard... school board members-elect: Charles Anderson, Ron Malone, and David Stuckey. Springboro families and taxpaying homeowners urge you to get on board with our current board's reform minded vision of our Children First Budgeting agenda,
supporting our current board's amazing accomplishments and progress made in the past two years, putting all our students highest academic achievements first, maintaining fiscal integrity within our Children First Budgeting framework. It's for our children, our community and toward a better future for our schools! There is no place in our children's 21st century quality classroom education for re-instating Ron Malone's March 2012
"business as usual status quo." We must invest our hard earned
school tax dollars in staying the course of our school district's NEW reform minded philosophy; and continue growing together doing "more education for all our K-12 students, with less local taxation and less financial support of forced unionism."

Please define "good", once we have ascertained the baseline we can now enjoy a more productive discussion. What makes a person "good" ?

For instance, what entails a "good paycheck" ? Is $25/hour "good" ? How about $35/hour, is that "good" ?

Good is a lot like "fair" or "change", it can mean anything to anyone anywhere anytime.

No doubt about it, Yes Indeed, ALL our school employees ought to be grateful they HAVE a great job, working with good pay and fantastic benefits, in our safe and comfortable Springboro schools!

Giving (of ourselves in whatever career path we find ourselves traveling in this uncertain economy)is born in a heart filled with Thanksgiving, for all good things. No matter our jobs,
including choosing to Teach, as a means of developing Self-Respect AND Respect of Others, we must choose to live with an attitude of constant gratitude by counting the blessings in each day, seeking opportunities to exercise our job skills to improve the lives of others.

Just this week I encountered a sales clerk in a local business who is a certified Teacher who cannot get a job, and for several years has been grateful for the gift of EMPLOYMENT outside the teaching profession. And perhaps you (like me) have friends and family who are working two part-time jobs, to earn a paycheck to take care of their families, because full-time employment is not offered by many local businesses, because of the increasingly high state and federal taxes imposed upon businesses, making it impossible to yield a profit from their hard work, while demanding long hours spent away from their family.

And yet, the signs at our Springboro Schools entrances light up the good news that our Springboro schools employees are on
holiday break November 17-29! What a sweet deal that must be!

No doubt about it, based on the OEA war of words launched against Springboro taxpayers for increased taxes, our Springboro school district employees should be convicted of their personal need to
"reset their priorities." Rather than exerting efforts,(such
as the Vote for Revenge to Re-instate status quo Malone and the
hypocritical Red Ribbon protest demanding Respect for Teachers)
to Accumulate more, more, more, our school district teachers should be counting their blessings, one by one; and be spurred on to SHARE with our Students from the abundance they already have.

What I am is an individual who believes everyone has the right to choose their beliefs and how/when/what is taught to their children by way of religion. And to be perfectly clear, I am married to a devout Catholic. We actually share more by way of our beliefs than we have differences. If you knew anything about the 3 "main" religions in this world, you would know that.
I went ballastic, as you call it, not because the group 'teaching' was Christian (check your facts), but because that group is made up of individuals who perpetuate hate. Check out their information anywhere on the web. But let's put that aside because I was one among many who opposed the garbage being touted by that group, among whom were Christians.
Moving on - Jeesh was used intentially instead of Jesus. If you don't know why, I guess it's not up to me to teach you that. I'm quite aware of what I wrote.
And where I work is rather irrelevant, but you should learn to spell it correctly.
Finally, my language is what it is. I don't pretend to be otherwise. If you can't take it or don't like it, don't read it. By the way, to you or whomever else wishes to take potshots at me, at least man-up and own your opinions. State who you are if you have nothing to hide. If you truly believe the garbage you're spouting, claim it. If not, then carry on. I'll continue to have fun with you while staying true to who I am.
I spoke with the woman who was teaching the class, Ms. Ricki Peppin. Ms Peppin did not seem to be filled with hate, in fact those attacking her and her motives appeared much more so in that vein.

My problem with her program was that it took 33% of the curriculum time and devoted it to the Bible and utilized the Bible to justify x number of ways in which the constitution was ordered before they even moved onto the study of the constitution.

Hillsdale College has a program that is readily available on line for free.

"Hillsdale College was founded in 1844 by men and women who proclaimed themselves “grateful to God for the inestimable blessings resulting from the prevalence of civil and religious liberty and intelligent piety in the land,” and who believed that “the diffusion of sound learning is essential to the perpetuity of these blessings.”

Hillsdale was the first American college to prohibit in its charter any discrimination based on race, sex, or national origin. Associated with the anti-slavery movement from its earliest days, it attracted to its campus anti-slavery leaders such as Frederick Douglass and Edward Everett, who preceded Abraham Lincoln at Gettysburg. Several of the College’s leading men were instrumental in founding the new Republican party up the road in Jackson, Michigan, in 1854. And Hillsdale sent a larger percentage of its students to fight for the Union in the Civil War than any other American college or university except West Point. Two of those Hillsdale veterans helped carry Lincoln’s casket to the slain president’s final resting place in Springfield, Illinois.

Hillsdale’s modern rise to national prominence began in the 1970s, when the federal government attempted to impose a host of regulations on the College—including racial quota requirements that violated Hillsdale’s principled policy of nondiscrimination. When the Supreme Court upheld these regulations in the 1980s on the basis that Hillsdale students received federally funded grants and loans, the College decided to refuse even this indirect form of federal aid, replacing all federal student aid with privately funded grants, loans, and scholarships."

Even if you detest their political leanings, you have to admire their utter lack of hypocrisy in the manner in which they avoid the clutches of the federal government. Apparently not everyone can be bought off with trinkets and baubles.

Knowing one's rights and the limitations of government will serve the country well in the long run.

Regardless, I see what you're saying: KOHLS, PETRONI AND RIGANO ARE LIARS. Glad we cleared that up, not that it was at all nebulous. The community has known for quite some time that such is the case, which is why their followers, Bitner and Vaughn, lost overwhelmingly.
Even if you erroneously believe that Malone was not a good principal, he is a GOOD MAN, and I'll take that any day over the malevolent trio from Hell in Kohls, Petroni, and Rigano.

It is Mr. Malone's Strong Resistance and Refusal to CHANGE his status quo leadership ways of the Year 2000, that formed his "put it back the way it was" protests of "re-instate Ron Malone in March 2012", against our current board members good leadership; spreading F-E-A-R (False Evidence Appearing Real)
demonizing, discrediting, distorting, and telling lies about
our reform minded BOE representatives, Dr. Kohls, Mr. Rigano,
and Mr. Petroni.

As the man who led our school district as high school principal for 13 years, Ron Malone held a special place of trust authority, and influence in our community. The truth of how he chose to use those gifts is revealed in the Public Records Reports of his professional Peer Reviewers, his superiors, and his own public pronouncements, proves to community taxpayers that Mr. Malone ran this high school like a union shop, making up classes with scant
demand to ensure employment for those whose skills were not in demand. This tactic robbed resources from areas of grater need in the district. Those who suffered the most were the gifted and those in need of early intervention.

Please check the school website for the following facts on the new state report card, proving Mr. Malone's failed practices of the past, running our SHS like a union shop, making up classes with scant demand to ensure employment for those whose skills were not in demand. This tactic robbed resources from areas of greater need in the district. Those who suffered the most were the gifted and those in need of early intervention.

Springboro Schools received a "D" grade on gifted intervention and "C" grade on the lowest 20% in achievement from state.

Springboro Schools received three overall “A” grades and two overall “B” grades on the new state report card.

Ohio is raising the bar with a system of A–F letter grades so that educators, parents and taxpayers can see how schools are performing and where we can improve.

We are using our school performance data to guide improvements and individualized instruction for all students. For example, the savings from our efficiency plans are invested in increased gifted education and reading intervention for 2013-2014.

With an innovative administration and outstanding central office staff, our current board members are employing efficiency plans. These plans are allowing our school district to reallocate resources and meet district needs, including an
unprecedented investment in technology and curriculum to create a 21st century learning environment for students. For the first time in
years, we have clear direction. Where trust has been eroded, we are rebuilding....

As we seek to build confidence in our schools for everyone, others seek to build mistrust. From the outside, we have been labeled controversial.

Zero-based budgets and efficiency plans are not controversial.
Updated technology and curriculum are not controversial.
Buses that run and roofs that don't leak are not controversial.
Putting children first is reasonable, not controversial.

Where the integrity was not maintained from within, it is our right and our duty to rebuild it together. We will continue to work in the direction of confidence to restore integrity and trust in our schools.

May I introduce Glass Houses to my young teacher friend, who was guided into a career of teaching, by family members who were teaching, urging that a teaching job was easier and more secure than jobs in the private sector, because of the forced unionism collective bargaining laws that forbids local Taxpayers from firing inept union teachers from our children's classrooms.

My young friend was guided by other teachers in the family to
choose Special Education, thereby, having the best opportunity to demand the most money on the job. However, my young friend found that the demands of being a special education teacher was so
difficult on the emotional and physical well-being of the teacher, that my young friend decided the extra money was not worth it; and re-applied for another teaching position. This teacher was strong enough in principles to let go of more money, in order to gain more self-fulfillment and respect of the teaching profession.

May I introduce Glass Houses to my retired teacher friend, who now states that the desire to hold on to the employment security in the forced unionism teaching profession, that for years personal principles were set aside, because teaching in the union schools was more profitable than teaching in private schools or working in the private sector, outside the old outdated protective collective bargaining rights for public school teachers, which are all wrong
because of putting union employees' financial gain FIRST, leaving our Students First reform minded philosophy behind with "status quo business as usual."

My conclusion is that teachers are just like all the rest of us
moms and dads that have to work hard for a living, sometimes sacrificing our own best interest for the best interest of our school children and the financial demands of our children's 21st century quality classroom education.

For too long, the Springboro district appeared to work very well, but it lacked direction. With no plan for textbooks, technology, capital improvements, buses and more, there was no larger course charted for our schools. There was no common sense.

Educate Springboro's common sense approach does not strip the district of its traditions or diversity. It does not ignore its accomplishments and honors, including "excellent with Distinction.
It simply gives us a unifying direction that extends beyond any individual (including the retired educator, Dr. Ron Malone)
any building (including the Blue Ribbon SHS award) or year
(including the year 2000 when Dr. Malone first was employed by Springboro Taxpayers as principal of the high school).

The time has now come to Look at Today and the Future, as we look ahead to the new year and welcoming aboard school board members elect, Mr. Anderson, Mr. Malone, and Mr. Stuckey. Tougher, realistic standards upset the "status quo" but inflated standards rob our children of true achievement and potential. Clearly,
there are still challenges, but thanks to the common sense leadership of our current board members, including Mr.Petroni and Mr.Rigano, we are moving in the direction of putting Children First.

We are meeting and exceeding state mandates as well as local expectations. Most important, we are being honest about what is needed through year 2017. This is reform at the local level,
and this is working together toward sustainability...A Very Good Thing for ALL!

Good riddance! It's wonderful to see ya go!

Malone et al had better be on the ball from the instant they're sworn in. Write this down: From that point forward, parents and taxpayers of this community will be putting fire to the feet of all five board members, particularly untested newbies Malone and Stuckey. The one thing that's for certain is parents and taxpayers of Springboro Community City Schools will not allow the district's overall financial status to regress toward the kind of mess we collectively were forced to endure prior to wiser leadership being elected to the board beginning in 2009.

Listen up, Ron Malone! We, parents and taxpayers, will not stand for allowing this community to regress into the past's mistakes. We will never put up with any sort of regression toward David Baker style "tax-and-spend, or-else" wholesale manipulation of our schoolchildren and of this entire community.

... in the direction of leadership!

If there is a sense of turbulence in OUR community
it has been manufactured by those who oppose change, wish to suffocate debates they would lose, and return to the days of endless levies, punitive action against our citizens, and never ending financial emergencies within the district.

Our current board members, including Jim Rigano
and David Petroni, working together with Todd Petrey and school district leaders, have built a financial foundation on the principal of fiscal responsibility;

....and will continue to make changes that make sense; for example, eliminating underutilized courses to fill needs in other
areas;

....and won't continue relationships with service providers that don't provide the best value just
because working with them has been PAST practice;

....and will demand integrity from everyone we work with from Boosters to Vendors, from Students to Administrators.

Common Sense, Ethics, and Sound Financial decisions guide Educate Springboro. The fear
of change will not chase OUR community back into the darkness of previously failed practices.

Let's stay on this new course and move in the
direction of leadership for OUR children, OUR schools, and OUR community.

Congratulations to Mr. Anderson, Mr. Malone,
and Mr. Stuckey! Springboro Families and Taxpaying Homeowners are optimistic that the expertise and leadership skills of current board members, Mr. Petroni and Mr. Rigano, will lead our retired educators/new board members, to leave behind old failed practices of the past, and quickly get on board.... working together with our school district leaders, in the direction of our reform minded VISION of highest academic achievement for ALL students, while maintaining fiscal integrity, with No New Taxes needed.

And to Mr. Weideman (sp?), so sorry your money couldn't buy enough votes to put more of your minions on the board. I look forward to hearing you bitch at board meetings, but thankfully the board is no longer in your pocket!
You have yet to come up with a single, solitary point that you disagreed with during the entire campaign.

Could it be that you actually agreed with everything Mr. Vaughn and Mr. Bitner ran upon?

You are free to tell the truth today.

Doug W is one man that puts his money where his mouth is. Did you know that when anyone wrote to the SMA group with campaign questions, Sara Jobe answered their questions. WTH Is this what we should expect from the Malone, Stucky, Anderson group? I see extreme cowards that never met a levy they did not love because it filled their selfish pockets. Did you all know that Malone still has a daughter and a wife that are Springboro teachers union members? Do you think that is ethical? Malone worked hard to pass 5 levies that were proven to be unnecessary. While robbing the kids of field trips, materials and supplies, new busses, busing, leaking, falling apart buildings, no new technology, discouraged challenging stundets with college curriculum, he built a six figure principles fund? To be later used to buy teachers snacks, lunches, t-shirts ect...
Did you all know that while he smiled at these kids proving his undying love for kids he never looked into a single dual credit course, he let pay to play go to $475 per student, never asked the boosters to pay some of these expenses while coaches were enjoying vacations in FL on the booster money and while hundreds of thouseand was being stolen. Did you know that while he smiled at these kids he was letting coaches use Springboro tax payer paid facilities to run camps while they kept all the profits amounting to tens of thousands?
Hey guys, is your boss/mommy going to answer all of the questions for you? We have some questionsa for you, will Sara Jobe be your new boss and answer your questions for you? We will be watching

Disagree 100%. They are good people. Just like anyone else, they have a right to seek raises - this doesn't mean they aren't about the kids, but it DOES mean that they are husbands, mothers, etc. with families to consider. Teachers are not overpaid, and the fact that they were on a pay freeze for so long is ridiculous. They don't ask for double their salary or something crazy - they just want to be compensated. They chose this particular career because they love children and teaching; that doesn't automatically forbid them from a good paycheck.
They do not have the right to hurt our children to get raises. They do not have the right to extort money from citizens to threaten to destroy this community harmony if they do not get more. Last year this community saw a 1% increase in household incomes, this year teachers will get 5-6% raises, how is that fair to these poor kids barely able to afford student fees, food let alone helth care coverage. The school newsletter says specifically that we have over 300 people getting food assistance from our food bank. The district pay and benefits for working part time is insanely unfair and we are all beginning to not only not trust but to disrespect this district and all others that do the same. There should be no crying poor from these district employees. All I want to hear is thank you and what do you want from us and yes I will pay more of my health care costs and yes I will work all year and yes I will work a 8 hour day and not expect to be paid for having lunch. Yes I will go on field trips without extra PAY. Yes I will become a grade level leader or a department head or a teacher mentor without extra pay. Yes I will coach a sport, get professional development and go to ours students performances without getting extra pay for it.
These district employees are so spoiled they have no idea how the real world lives and yes we do not think they desereve what they get because they get it through extortion.
The only solution is to decertify the union. We will never trust your motives teachers with the union involved in your jobs.

I want to trust "it's for the kids", now prove it.

INDEED, do you really think MOST of our teachers are greedy, lazy and care more about their purses than the kids? Do you know how many young and wide eyed new teachers we have on board, and how many hard working tenured teachers who put in 10-12 hour days we have? Sure there are teachers that should be fired and yes the union protects them,( which I disagree with ) but your comments, and those like them, are the type of comment that drives this whole forum down. All the while hiding behind anonymity.
Strong people have always stood up for what they believe in throughout the history of this great country and they didn't hide in the shadows. They did it knowing there may have backlash for their words but still they had the courage to do it and stand up to what may follow. Or they let those that had the courage to do so, do it.
Good thing there aren't any names like "INDEED, OR ANONYMITY IS BLISS" signed on the Constitution.
This will be my last post, you all can go back to hiding and calling each other names, and downgrading every person on both sides of the issue. You are getting a lot accomplished.
Have fun.
Jeff
This sounds great Jeff, are you sure you have never blogged here under another name? What you said above describes this Board of Ed. What do you think of this board of ed? People who stood up and said what needs to be said to protect the rest of the people, in this case the kids. This board took all the retributions, slander, lies and distortions from all angles and the Daily Prophet, oops, I mean the Dayton Daily. They did so just because it was the right thing to do not because they got praise, money and benefits. Some people do set themselves apart from the greedy.
If Springboro has greatness and unselfish teachers they need to set themselves apart from those that make them look badly and get out of the union. This union makes them all look bad. I might believe that Springboro teachers are good only if they prove it now. I nievely used to believe they were inherantly good now, I believe the opposite. My kids came home telling me of things being said, "all sports will be canceled if Petroni and Rigano get elected". This was a blatent lie but that did not stop these despriate self serving teachers from doing anything to keep their money coming including, scaring the kids, extorting from parents and soliciting sympathy when a poor Principal was asked to move out of the way so kids could get a better education.

Jeff where do you stand on those topics. Say something controversial and then see if you cloak yourself.

Congratulations are due to Springboro parent/private citizen, Doug Wiedeman, for putting his money where his mouth is, and standing strong in support of his chosen candidate, Charles Anderson, being elected Number One board representative! Mr. Wiedeman's clever political strategy, along with personally financing his one man battle against the union supporters first choice of Ron Malone, paid off at the polls, and our school district and community will benefit greatly by Mr. Wiedeman's hard work and tireless efforts to educate Springboro voters, of the true history of
the man who has led our school district as high school principal for the past 13 years.

Now that the election is over, Springboro taxpayers are asking Mr. Wiedeman to use his influence in the Board room to educate Mr. Anderson to join Mr. Petroni and Mr. Rigano in the difficult challenge of prompting Mr. Malone and Mr. Stuckey to get on board with our current board's fresh ideas and reform minded vision for the future of our school children and community.

In the Springboro Star Press, November 14, 2013,edition,
Mr. Anderson states that he would like to see the board become a member of OSBA again and hopes to be able to work with the board in hiring a full-time Treasurer. Anderson said he chose to run because he wanted to give something back to the community and he also wanted to bring more balance to the students and their accomplishments and not the board.

Well, duh...? Sounds to me like Mr. Anderson is solidly "on board" to re-instate Mr. Malone's 2012 March Madness protest rally AGAINST the reform minded board members, including Mr. Petroni and Mr. Rigano.

Sounds to me like Mr. Anderson is solidly "on board" to re-instate Mr. Malone's agenda of wasting taxpayers money "investing" in membership of OSBA, when absolutely nothing is contributed by OSBA membership to our children's first quality classroom education.
Sounds to me like Mr. Anderson is longing for the good old boy days of his previously served BOE years of 1996-2000, when the school treasurer and the SEA president had control over our school tax dollars, with priority of putting the self-interest financial gain of union employees ahead of our students first highest academic achievement.
Sounds to me like educate Springboro has a whole lot of "early
intervention" to do in early January!

Over the years, even when I was on city council, I was chastised for speaking up against the never ending school levies, and was chastised for supporting Kelly Kohls, who along with Petroni, and Rigano, gave Springboro 4 years without additional school levies. I used to have friends that supported me when I was on council, till that ultimately found out how I feel about the levies. I am sorry about losing those particular friends, but my view hasn't changed. Yes, I leave myself open for people that dislike me, but I can live with myself and have no trouble sleeping at night.
BTW, I lost my reelection by 10 votes, and I am sure those 10 votes against me were school employees. Life goes on and I can live with that.
