Regionally I am sure they were laughing at us for having a balanced budget, needs met, infrastructure under repair, an expansive technology plan that is scalable into the future, a surplus of funds, a renewal levy that asked for less money because we had enough in the system already, and $2.5 million earmarked for textbooks that is still available to meet its goal.
Yes, that must be worth quite a chuckle to those struggling to meet even a fraction of those goals.
They were laughing at the creationism nonsense, the charter school discussion, glaring conflicts of interest, etc. It's all good, though. With the majority now being more moderate, we will no longer be a topic of conversation. It will be nice to have a board that TRULY puts the kids first!

Bitner and Vaughn were absolutely correct in that they had no business in attending any debate sponsored by the SEA. Our household has children in Springboro's schools and we have witnessed years upon years of manipulation on the part of the teachers union. I pity the blind befuddled parents of district students who supported Malone and Anderson especially. Congratulations! You have just been U-S-E-D!! Be sure you don't forget to give your kids great big union-indoctrinating hugs and kisses before they turn in tonight!
Those evil teachers!!!! Horrible people for sure!!!!
Seriously, most of us are ecstatic to have a board that actually supports and values its teachers. We WANT the board to have an effective working relationship built on mutual respect. The current board treated the teachers like crap; the parents of Springboro LIKE the fact that the new board will create cohesion so that all parties can do what is best for kids!

Springboro Tea Party Candidates Lose In Landslide
Nov 7th, 2013 @ 11:22 pm › Joseph
On Tuesday, two Tea-Party supported candidates (David Bitner and Kolton Vaughn) for Springboro School Board lost in a landslide to a former school board member, a former principal and a former teacher (Charles Anderson, Ronald Malone and David Stuckey). The winners ran a campaign promising to return the school system to a “more moderate mainstream direction” i.e. they wouldn’t continue trying to push Creationism and Christian Nationalism on the children of Springboro.
Good news. And congrats!
The city also passed a levy for the schools with over 75 percent of the vote. The first levy to be on the ballot in two years.
Also good news.
Unfortunately, Tea Party activist Kelly Kohls and her cohorts on the School Board are still running the show for a few more months, and today they tried to use school board money to pay consulting fees to former Republican State Rep Seth Morgan.
Morgan, you may remember, ran as the tea party outsider against Dave Yost in the 2010 Republican primary for Ohio Auditor. Shortly after losing, Morgan went on to work for the Koch brothers-funded group Americans for Prosperity. The organization promotes an anti-labor and anti-public school agenda.
Yesterday, just a day before they were scheduled to meet, the Springboro School Board’s agenda was updated to include an item for approving a contract with Morgan’s company, MLA Management Systems, for nearly $10,000 in consulting fees.
The contract came up for a vote tonight. We just received word that it was tabled for now.

Are you talking about January 2014, when the TWO retired
status quo "educators representing educators" Ron Malone and David Stuckey, come on board with the newly elected community business man, Charles Anderson?
It's true that Charles Anderson was elected at the Top of the leader board; but word about town is buzzing that our new BOE
member, Charles Anderson, is more of a middle of the road leader;
you know the type, just checking things out about the goings on in the board room, and then just going along to get along, just so that he can escape the wrath of Scary Sarah and her evil ones, who ALL share the TOP of the leader board in the cult-like unionism flock of followers.

Parents in this school district should be reminded that ONLY our involvement in our children's classroom education can save our children from the mean-spirited, self-serving indoctrination of unionism PUSHED down the throats of OUR children by a union teacher in every classroom.

Parents in this school district should be reminded that January 2014 is the TIME to get to our BOE meetings and take back OUR Children's First reform minded school district agenda!
Children First Budgeting Works!

And we only need ONE board member to gain a Children's First majority... and we have already WON the ONE in the middle...
It's for our children, our schools, and our community!

BORO FUTURE BRIGHT LOOKS PRETTY OPTIMISTIC....sunny side up.

MSA all the Way? Not Really!

Mr. Anderson doesn't have to feel obligated to
vote with the TWO ...

Mr. Anderson CAN be the ONE voting support for putting Students First!

Mr. Anderson CAN be the ONE voting support for Raising the bar for students and teachers!

Mr. Anderson CAN be the ONE voting to support balancing class sizes and strengthening our curriculum!

Mr. Anderson CAN be the ONE voting to support Mr. Petrey's move towards emphasis on more development in the earliest grade levels.

Mr. Anderson CAN be the ONE to Vote his Voice;
instead of being the silent minority in the
one voice of status quo collective Stuckey/Malone.

Public schools serve the community. The community funds and supports public schools. The partnership between our schools and community can be described in many ways. It is a legislated relationship. It is a traditional bonding. It is symbiotic. It is real.
The Springboro school district stands in an almost unheard of position today. Even after plans to invest millions in technology, curriculum, buildings and buses, and even after providing every employee with raises, we are financially prepared to give something back to the taxpayer – to give back to our community by reducing their tax burden. The renewal levy on the ballot in November will be set at a lower millage rate to reduce taxes generated by that levy by nearly 15 percent.
With every step, we are proving that this district with its record of excellence is sustainable with an even lower tax burden. This is almost unheard of in school or local government today. The idea seems so foreign to some that there is even a call in our community to keep the renewal for the full amount.
There is an assumption that if we are cutting the taxes; we must be cutting back in our schools. This is simply FALSE. The following needs are in the current budget through 2017:
• high school busing restored
• over $2 million in text books and new adoptions
• over 2.1 million for new buses
• over $3.7 million in capital needs and deferred maintenance
• over $1.5 million in technology (100% WiFi, 1,000 computers, 350 teacher laptops)
• over $7.5 million for our staff in raises and benefit changes

These are met in the five-year forecast even with the lower renewal levy. This reduction of almost 15 percent millage is equal to $1,353,800 per year that we are giving back to our community.
How is this possible?
• The May 2013 five-year forecast included a surplus of $7.55 million in 2017.
• After the approval of contracts with the teachers, classified and exempt staff, the five-year forecast still reveals a surplus of $7.2 million in 2017.
• Springboro Community City Schools will receive 6.5% more in 2013-2014 than in the previous year from the State of Ohio (approximately $828,000) as well as 10.5% more in 2014-2015 (approximately $1.2 million).
• Since 2012, 2013, the district has received $3.5 million per year as a result of a pipeline that has been completed.
• A second pipeline is possible; however, the district’s current forecast assumptions DO NOT include the additional funding it may bring to the district.
Not only have we proven that we can live within our means, but now every person in this district—our children and families, our staff and teachers, and the taxpayers–will benefit.
This is significant when placed in the context of five failed levies that sought to raise our taxes by up to $45,000,000. Our community sent a clear message again and again that there could be no new taxes. The board—elected by that same community—remembers that we are all on the same side in the pursuit of true educational attainment. As it became clear through our due diligence into the finances of the district that we could meet our needs with less money, the board voted to request lower millage in the renewal levy in November.
If you budget $300 for a monthly car payment but you find the car you need with every option for $250, do you tell the dealer you’d still like to pay more? Of course not. We’re not selling a rundown clunker at the reduced price. We are meeting and exceeding state mandates as well as local expectations. We are building a technology backbone, investing in computers, curriculum, buses and buildings – we are putting children first. Most important, we are being honest about what is needed through 2017. This is reform at the local level, and this is working together toward sustainability.

We want to get AWAY from the groupthink ways of Kohls, Petroni, and Rigano. I suspect that Malone amd Stuckey chose him for that very reason. We just know that the extremist views of Petroni and Rigano will not fly anymore.

the good leadership of our reform-minded TEAM of board representatives AND school district leaders, working TOGETHER
committed to ensuring that the children of the Springboro community receive an excellent education, while keeping the costs of that education affordable, by carefully adhering to responsible spending. And that benefits everyone!

I do not agree with your opinion; It is your right to your own opinion of others; but there is no requirement for others to agree with you, and that includes Mr. Anderson.

If only KPR would have listened, then maybe their protégés, Bitner and Vaughn, would have been elected...or at least would have made a decent run for it instead if making you look like raging fools. These qualities that you profess to support - listening, keeping students first, etc. were rarely, if ever, demonstrated by the current board. Kohls actively shushed the voice of her opposition while letting those who agreed with her speak at length. THAT is the crap that Springboro is sick of. And why is it ok for your two candidates to campaign together, but it's bad that MSA did? Make up your mind! They decided to fight fire with fire and it worked. Thank god we have a board that truly cares about the kids. You can be fiscally conservative and still respect your teachers. KPR was incapable of that. I believe the new board has some much needed balance so everyone can have an equal voice. You are still confused.

The way I see it, it is the MSA supporters on this blog who are making themselves look like raging fools, raving like fanatics who can't change the past and won't change the subject; allowing their hostility, anger and resentment continue to dominate even their successful school board campaign. Even at the board meeting, the MSA campaign supporters did not pause in their vote for revenge against our Children's First board members to publicly Congratulate their own victors of the campaign!

Instead, it appeared that the Malone/Stuckey/Anderson groupies had met BEFORE the meeting, pre-planned their "gotcha again strategy" against Kelly Kohls, called in the TV news crew, then Ron Malone stood to begin the interrogation, with Lisa Babb, grabbing the spotlight for herself, bullying Kelly Kohls to "answer Ron's questions."

Yes, folks, it does look like it is March 2012 all over again!
Can we expect at our next meeting that Ron's kids will "follow
their leader" into the board room to teach the new board members just exactly what level of Respect that the Union masters demand from our elected officials?

Gonna be lots of fun, Three minutes at a time, And it's Free!
