"It is not the man who has too little, but the man who craves more, that is poor." - Seneca
The bottom line is that we are running to gain control of the board; There needs to be a re-emphasis on the value of the educator.
-school board candidate Ron Malone-
No doubt Mr. Malone is blinded to the value of our current boards's successful children's first budget and the benefits to our students, including funds to textbooks, curriculum, new buses, techology, attention to supports for college and career--STEM,PSEO,AP courses and more.... PLUS
new contract agreements, every teacher, every staff member, every employee, every custodian, and every bus driver of the Springboro Comunity City Schools will be PAID more.... They will be rewarded for their skills and commitment to our schools and our children!
Why would Mr. Malone (or any Springboro Professional Educator) have a "major concern with these decisions being made" doing what's right for our school children's 21st Century Education?
#27256 Sep 10, 2013
MALONE huh..hm. Johantges is just like Malone, another money sucking principal.
#27257 Sep 10, 2013
Excuse Me, but why is the opposition trying to "fix it" when it isn't even broke? And why is celebrating our school district's successful unprecedented achievements of pay increases for all school employees, and a very slight reduction in renewal levy for all Springboro families, "tearing down" the opposition?
Elections come and go, popularity rises and falls, but the principles of fiscal responsibility in our school district budget is here to stay until 2017. No question about it.
#27258 Sep 10, 2013
Exactly. Still waiting for anyone from the opposition to articulate why their position is better than what we have right now. I want to hear Malone, Anderson and Stuckey tell me why the new teacher contract is not good; why the surplus we have is not good; why the reduced levy is bad; why reduced pay to play is bad; why the return of busing is bad. Then, explain to me how you would make it better?

...And here lies the problem:
Springboro Schools received three overall “A” grades and two overall “B” grades on the new state report card. Ohio is raising the bar with a system of A–F letter grades so that educators, parents and taxpayers can see how schools are performing and where we can improve. We are using our school performance data to guide improvements and individualized instruction for all students. For example, the savings from our efficiency plans are invested in increased gifted education and reading intervention for 2013-2014.(visit the springboro schools website for our state report card)
Inquiring minds remember when Springboro parents, David Bowman and Lisa Babb, ran a successful opposition campaign, to our reform-minded board member's proposal, to consider hiring an educational group to study the possibilities of unmet needs in our students potential higher achievements in academic education(including the gifted).
This educational study was tabled, in favor of the emotional pleas that our school district not put the Springboro Community Assistance Program for the needy in jeopardy. The majority agreed that God loves panthers; and we cannot allow the cost of this educational study to risk starving our little children and their families who are dependent upon food from the Springboro Community Assistance program.(Isn't one of the board members of the Community asisstance program a local pastor and a member of the Sprinboro City Council?)
Inquiring minds question the validity of this emotionally blackmailing argument of Springboro parents, David Bowman and Lisa Babb, since our school district has only 5% of our families qualifying for the taxpayer-funded FREE? lunch program at Springboro Schools; that, in turn, qualifies Springboro Schools to the federal entitlement program; that forces our school cafeteria business manager to increase the cost of school lunches for every Springboro family that is financially able to feed lunch to their own children.
Inquiring minds question the irony of it all....
Where is the concern of Springboro parents, David Bowman and Lisa Babb, now that our state report card issues a D for Springboro Schools "gifted?"
Why are we receiving requests from the high school principal for every family to donate food to the Springboro Community Assistance program that is now supporting food pantries throughout the state of Ohio? Why are taxpayers funding our professional educators to do the volunteer charity work of the home and the church?

Don't hold your breath! I suppose one would consider themself awfully lucky if any of these three shills were adept enough to provide the correct time of day, without first belching out liberal pro-union rhetoric.
There is but only ONE reason why Malone Stuckey and Anderson chose to consolidate their election resources - and that reason is to regain control of the Springboro school board, then place the board squarely into the lap of the Springboro Education Association.

One must keep in mind when evaluating "state" benchmarks that they must apply to both the top and the bottom of the spectrum.
These benchmarks cannot be too aggressive or they deter the bottom portion of the group from even trying.
These benchmarks also cannot demonstrate the truth because the howl from the general public would be too much for these politicians to bear. IE Florida when they put forth the first set of Common Core standards and everyone flunked. They soon realized the error of their way and made everyone happier and their children smarter by lowering the standards so everyone got "better" grades.
The claim by one distraught woman that raising the standards so that our children are not passing in sufficient numbers is just not right. To her way of thinking keeping standards low so more kids pass is the better alternative.
The Florida Department of Education raised the standards on the writing test to put more emphasis on correct punctuation, grammar, and details.
Anyone care to inform the great unwashed masses why learning to communicate more effectively is a bad thing for our children?

More complaining about what is and not what can be. Which candidates do you support? 3 seats are up and the only names people keep saying are the ones they "supposedly" don't want voted in. Unless this is actually reverse psychology....
Name your candidates (if you can).
#27263 Sep 11, 2013
This candidate's name is on the Warren County Board of Election website. If you are capable of utilizing deductive reasoning, it is fair to say that you've got a 50/50 chance of coming up with the correct name.

Larry Schweikart, New York Times Best Seller, Professor at the University of Dayton, author of "The Patriots History of the United States"...
...is coming to town to speak for 30 minutes at the Springboro Board of Education meeting Thursday night Sept. 12.
Mr. Schweikart will be speaking on "Why it is Important to get American History Correct". Teaching students TRUE, ACCURATE AND HONEST American history - our future depends on it!
Thursday Sept. 12
Springboro High School
1675 S. Main St.

Teaching students TRUE, ACCURATE AND HONEST American history - our future depends on it!.... PRICELESS!
No question about it, this discussion is in the direction of the leadership needed in our public school board business meetings!
Our school commuity and our community as a whole need to hear more, more, more emphasis on the value of an accurate and honest American history education; and no more bullying for more, more, more re-emphasis on the increased dollar value of the educator.
Just one question -- what happened to the TV broadcasts of the board meetings?
#27267 Sep 11, 2013
Not 100% sure about this but at a recent meeting I'm pretty sure I saw the cameraman being taken down by a disheartened hard core Babb supporter.
#27268 Sep 11, 2013
Let's stay on this new course and move in the direction of leadership for our children, schools and community.
Springboro Loves Our Children First....!
#27269 Sep 11, 2013
The Florida experience with raising expectations and the degree of rigor of the assessment test, has proved that people tend to rise to the level of competency required.
The first year of the new standards saw modest increases in actual scores compared to the previous year. People began to realize it did not matter what you called a score, it was more important that children were actually learning.
Those who advocate retreating to familiar territory are almost certain to never advance.
The stakes are too high for our children to be burdened by certain adults unwarranted fears.
Vote in November to advance rather than retreat.

The same Larry Schweikart that produced 'Rockin' the Wall' as seen on PBS, you know "the 'People's' Broadcasting Service with its splendid reputation of almost three solid generations of wholesale liberal-socialist brainwashing. "
#27271 Sep 11, 2013
Isn't Larry Schweikart the author of the book:
48 Liberal Lies About American History
(That You Probably Learned in School)
This should be on the must read list for all our citizens, including professional educators and students who aren't even old enough to vote!
#27272 Sep 11, 2013
7:26 minute youtube review:
Larry Schweikart's "48 Liberal Lies About American History"
I'm very much looking forward to hearing Mr. Schweikart's presentation tomorrow evening.

Who's paying his speaker fees? How can a non-Springboro resident get to speak at the Baord meeting for 30 minutes?
#27274 Sep 11, 2013
Isn't the REAL question for SURE: How can a non-Springboro resident get to speak at the Board meeting for 30 minutes without being sneered at and jeered at by those hoping to silence all voices except their collective own?
#27275 Sep 11, 2013
Speakers like this is EXACTLY why the BOE needs to be changed. There were about $250,000 in budget items that are not budgeted for, overcrowded class rooms and this is what we have during school board meetings? I'm guessing his connection to Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh have nothing to do with why a non-Springboro resident is speaking at a School Board Meeting.
Mark my words, as long as the board keeps stunts like this up, the are ENSURING VICTORY for MSA in November.
Taken from a review:
"7 Events That Made America America is a conservative's look at what the author thinks are some important moments in the history of the USA. Mr. Schweikart is an excellent writer and he puts his points across well. The seven events he thinks are of critical importance are: 1. Martin Van Buren's idea about political parties (the spoils system) 2. The Dread Scott decision 3. The Johnstown flood 4. Eisenhower's heart attack 5. Western rock and roll penetrates the iron curtain 6. Ronald Regan's sending the Marines to Lebanon 7. Obama's favorable media treatment. "
He actually blames Reagan for pulling out of Lebanon. From another review: "Ronald Regan was a great president, but he made some serious mistakes. And the one that we are still paying for is his pull out of Lebanon after more than a hundred Marines were killed by a truck bomb. You can debate whether we should have been there or how the marines should have been better deployed, but the reality is that by pulling out, in the eyes of the Muslim fundamentalists that became Al Queda and similar organizations, we shamed ourselves. "
Even more interesting is what his students say about him. He's great as long as you don't try to bring up contradictory FACTS in his class. So much for presenting "both sides" bet he's not much for "controversial issues".
