Yes, I was born in 1950 with the Cold War and TV and post-big-war glory; all of the parents and aunts and uncles of my peers and classmates and I had worked or served during the big war. Our daddies and mommies had their wallets opened and taxes taken to fight the commies. Yes, I was suffering from John Wayne Brain Derangement Syndrome and believed that national defense belonged everywhere but at home. We were all friending military spending at places like the bases. I was an Old Cold Warrior who got my fair share of Pentagon Pork with a couple of overseas vacation stations, facing the Evil Empire on the Eastern Front, in Belgium and West Germany, as a NATO/SHAPE teletype tape ape. God and veterans forgive me! I was friends with the Bushmen and all for their three foreign media-whore defense-nut imperialist interventionist wars. Now, it is time for the empire to retreat, this being more bitter than sweet, so that we can watch our war movies on DVDs and on our TV screens, rather than stay in NATO and be mean like back in 1914, if you can believe or conceive what I mean.
