I was in Wytheville to watch this event. I was asked by a friend to drive up from Florida to check out the fighters. And my personal opinion of this event is that it was staged. One fight was called and the fighter never tapped. There was no submission. This fighter gave the beating and yet he lost because the ref said he tapped? Staged. Next fight was stopped three times. I seen one legitiment fight. I looked a little further into this event, and it seems that all the fighters that won their bouts belong to the same studio that sponsored the event in the first place with the exception of one. I was not impressed by Titans of The Cage and dont care to see one again if this is the way it will be run. Refs should be fair. And not be bought off. I've been in this business a very long time. And I know a staged fight when I see one.

I live in Wytheville and this is the first I have heard of some fight, so it must not be any good it you dont hear about it in a small town.

Being from Florida, it is apparent that you are unfamiliar with the sanctioning group, the Global Combat Alliance. They are the ones that provided the judges and refs for the event. They are completely independent of the promoters and have a reputation of being unbiased and not able to be bought off. As to the fighter who didn't tap, you should watch the replay in tape. The grimace of pain along with the visible tap are extremely apparent. for someone who has been in the business for a while, you should understand the concept in martial arts of winning or LOSING with humility and modesty. The 18 year old who walked around for weeks saying he was going to beat down a 16 year old lost to a better fighter and is now crying in his milk with excuses. The promoters and school that you mentioned that bought off the judges and 'staged' the fights had a fighter that lost his fight. So much for staged or bought off. Stop looking for excuses and train harder. Learn more about the martial arts mental and spiritual characteristics instead of just the physical skills. Become more informed about what you put out for the world to read and lose with humility and honesty.

Hell, you must live in a cave. The event was packed full and it was the most excitement Wytheville has seen since Gator took over the Post Office last year! If you weren't there, you missed some damn good fights.

Where do the refs come from (who are they affiliated with)? I understand that they're usually southwest's guys/ affiliates? I've never been to a TOC event, but have heard from many who have that they're pretty "RED" and amateur even in comparison w/ most other small town promotions...

What's interesting and confusing is how SWMA is even allowed to hold another TOC event at a public school after being arrested on felony drug charges? Anyone? Anyone?

You write like an imbecile so maybe you should reconsider getting in the ring. You might be able to save what little brain you've got left.

School wasn't in session. They rent the venue to the promoter. Besides I'm sure there was a meth head or 12 in the audience.

I've not missed one of these events and can't wait for the next one. I'm sure that BOGGLED up there is Penny Shanon. I suggest you spend less time hatin' and spewing jealously all over these forums and more time training Shaneki students to actually fight. Why have we never seen any Shaneki students fighting in this competition being that Scott is sporting some championship belt all over facebook? Kwikkicks has had fighters compete but not one of Shanon's. And on the judging thing anyone who knows anything about mma knows these events are sanctioned by state with their judges and refs. The paper said not one match ended by judges decision anyway so wtf are you talking about? I can't wait for the next event. Hope to be ready to fight in the next one myself.

Tony Fowler was interviewed at at the last TOC by mma insider. They said he was going to fight for a title at the next event so you will get your chance. I'm a big fan too.

I read that they signed with trutv to do a reality mma show here. Sheffey is going to be one of the main fighters on the show. Kinda cool for wythevegas.

Bigfan... I would guess that you're a "big fan" of TOC only because you haven't really seen or experienced much else?

Ha! Why would you think that Penny Shannon would actually lower herself to be reading or commenting on "Wythe Topix"? I've known her for a few years now, and I'm sure that she has better things to worry about. Besides she's much higher class than the rest of us uneducated, jobless, gossiping rednecks :)

My children actually trained at both, Shanaki & SWMA (which now I'm ashamed to admit). Wow, what a world of difference! At SWMA, I constantly heard their students and instructors bad mouth/ belittle the two other schools in town - especially Shanaki and always wondered why they felt it necessary to do so. At our time with Shanaki, I often heard their instructors tell students to absolutely never put down or talk bad about Southwest Martial Arts or any other martial arts school and that such behavior wouldn't be tolerated. At Shanaki, they demand that the students show respect and courtesy. At SWMA, they encourage bullying. As I've always told my kids, being a bully is a definitive sign of fear and weakness and often associated with a crappy home life or upbringing.

Every one of your names you are using on here, Penny is showing you from the same location... Bethpage NY. I am actually a fan of Kwikkix. You are pathetic. Every post on this forum bashing your competition is from you and Bethpage NY. You are a pathetic washed up HAG who don't know enough about martial arts to hold SWMA's jock strap. I hope they get a court order to get your ip number from Topix and sue your old hag ass for slander. You know, kinda like you sued Jinjer. You are a pathetic bitch, Penny. A pathetic, low class pretending bitch.
