Whats up with the rescue squads in this county? Just saw lead mines is getting sued. Why hasn't the county stepped in?

Why would the county step in? They dropped a lady and hurt her. They need to be sued, If they cant do any better then that.

Most these folks volunteer. Probably should be glad they show up at all.

I don't think it is fair to include all of the squads in the mistake of one of them. I live in Wytheville and we have to use the squad sometimes for Dad and I can tell you that the squad in Wytheville has changed a lot recently and should be given credit for that. They were GREAT to deal with, very professional. My family is VERY pleased with them!

I have to agree with Martha, I think that the Wythe County Rescue Squad should be commended for all of their work to turn things around. I remember last year seeing them in the news every other week or so because they were going broke or they were fighting with the local governments. Did anyone see the story about them the other night and the new volunteers?

I have to admit I was a critic of them last year during all the trouble and then when I read in the newspaper that they had replaced the failing captain with someone half my age I thought they had lost their minds but I have to eat my words because I met their new captain at a function a few weeks back and I have to say I was impressed. Plus I think the progress they have made in such a short time speaks for itself. They will be getting donations from this family again! KUDOS TO WYTHE COUNTY AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!

It's my understanding that the folks that dropped this lady were paid employees, not volunteers. Lead Mines has a contract with some ambulance service in Wytheville that provides people to run the calls during the days. You would sure think that someone getting paid would do better than that. The county should dissolve them implement a system that makes sure the calls gets answered when theyre needed and makes sure the people calling get taken care of -- not dropped in the floor.
