Kent County Clerk sued for failing to issue marriage license to illegal immigrants

If she was following the laws of Kent County, how can she be sued? The obvious should be Kent County as the defendant, no??

I had no idea that someone here ILLEGALLY could sue anyone for anything! Evidently they can. Why can't the illegals become legal and then get married; like my parents did when my mom came to this country from Canada. What makes Mexicans any more priveledged than Canadians??

The attorney who filed this garbage should be disbarred, or at least sanctioned with a hefty fine. What this turd did is arguably treason.

If the petitioners want to get married so bad, then GO HOME and do it.

I doubt this lawsuit will go anywhere, but it is a shame taxpayers will have to pay to defend against it.

I agree, not quite with that level of vigor, but I agree. I am amazed that the unions have not done more to stop illegal immigration. Instead the Dems seem to be wishy washy and Bush wants amnesty.

It's the Citizens they are trying to marry that are filing the lawsuit. IMO the illegal should be deported, and the Citizen harboring the illegal, should be held accountalbe. You can get into this country legally, and that is all well and fine with me if they want to marry a Citizen in those instances.

I approve of what the Clerk is doing. After all, we all have been told to be diligent.

Look in the mirror to see who the true bonehead is. Great start for these people...come to this country and break the first LAW you come in contact with and then demand rights???? Let's try an experiment...YOU go to their country and try this manuveur and see how it goes for you. If you succeed, we just might ALL try it.

If you are rich you can get into this country legally! Our government has made it impossible for the poor farmers that we need to do our manual labor to come here the right way. They do this on purpose to keep them illegal, cheap and afraid!

Do you really think that a subsistence farmer in primarily indigenous parts of Mexico have the thousands of dollars necessary to apply/pay for a work visa?

We can look in the mirror all day. Doesn't change the fact that the US was founded and brought up on the backs of exploited cheap labor. We want it, we need it, we will never survive without it.

There are legal ways for Guest Workers to be in this country doing the work you mention. It is the ILLEGAL ones that don't belong here draining our resources, ie, Medicaid, Welfare, etc.
