You see them almost everywhere: jobless people with houses in foreclosure. And on some of their driveways are Hondas, Toyotas, or Nissans.
Ugh! Jobless Americans driving foreign, helping put even more Americans out of work. Why so? Well, the Japanese have been luring us for years. They give their vehicles American names. Media promote them! They flood us with ads. They’re so astute! No wonder they suck so many of us in. As to their quality pitch, check the March ‘09 J.D. Power report: For reliability, Buick tops Lexus; Lincoln & Mercury in top 5. Today, differences between Japanese and American are minute. They exist only in minds influenced by BIASED media. For 20 years media have been touting Japanese and knocking American. Yes, supposedly FOR FREE, our own media help sell MILLIONS of Japanese cars. They make it nightmarish for our automakers to compete. And because our makers are a huge factor in our economy, as much as a fifth of it, this costs America JOBS, JOBS, JOBS! But the Japanese say,“We give America jobs. We build cars there and hire people to build them.” So, they assemble SOME here. Their goal: get people to think:“If they’re built here, they’re American.” Baloney! They’re still Japanese! And here’s more reality: MOST Japanese cars sold here are built in Japan! But no matter where they’re built, what really counts is where profit ends up. FACT: every year Japanese parent-corporations in Japan reap BILLIONS from cars sold in America. Yes, 31% of their income comes from the U.S.A.(see Google) These billions feed Japan’s economy. We’re Japan’s cash cow! This, despite our almost 50 million people with no health care, 37 million in poverty including 18% of our kids, 77,000 bridges needing rebuilding, interstate highways crumbling, city schools deteriorating, and unemployment at 10%+ in many states, 15.2 in Michigan. Considering those bleak facts, we let the Japanese feed on us? Can we build cars in Japan? No! They impose costs that make it financially unworkable. In ‘08 we sold only 10,000 there. But they sold 3 MILLION in America! And get this: they’ve even refused to buy our apples! In effect, they close their 160 million-people market to us. Square shooters, they’re NOT!!!! We let them get away with all this? Yep! They have an incredibly powerful lobby in Washington. Big bucks talk! It’s a type of lobbying that’s a bane on America! And BTW, the South Koreans also feed on us. In ‘08 they sold us 800,000 cars but only bought 6,000 of ours. Another bummer: oodles of Big 3 dealers have conflicts; they also sell foreign cars. So, they don't advertise and push:“DRIVE AMERICAN!” If they did, they’d sell lots more American. They’d put thousands back to work. Yes, dealers could really help our economy. Instead, they shortsightedly, add to America’s woes. Anyway, our “FOREIGN-CAR-I-TIS,” fueled for 20 years by our own media, has finally caught up with us. It’s cost us a million jobs! And some say eventually it could cost 4 million. As to the 375,000 jobs we get to assemble and sell Asian cars, well, if from that we lose 4 million jobs, that’s OK? Now there’s a silver lining: With U.S. backing, GM and Chrysler will be stronger. Nevertheless, the Asians will be circling vultures hoping our guys fail so they can devour the industry. Shall we help them? NO! NO! Let’s back the new GM and Chrysler, as well as Ford, which on its own is reinventing itself. For three months now, Ford has outsold Toyota. Hopefully, we’re getting wise: CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME, not in Japan! Yes, support our own economy! DRIVE AMERICAN! "God bless America, land that I love, stand beside her...." P.S. More on quality: in 2006, Toyota was under criminal investigation for hiding safety defects: http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2006/07... PLEASE, PLEASE help! Pass this on to family & friends. |

not to offend you but its our own fault in this matter. We as Americans are materialistic and was furthered by factory jobs that would pay awesome wages for work that any high schooler could do.
Right now we are feeling the pinch because industry was willing to pay union workers high wages, insurance, and other benefits. With manufacturing in US becoming more expensive, it has been much more viable to produce good elsewhere. And since this has been going on forever and kept on happening which drained the auto industry. |

Beck,
Respectfully, I disagree. The Big Three in the 90s and early 00s gave the public exactly what it wanted: SUVs and Trucks. Then the price of gas spiked in "08, and this combined with our economy dropping into the pits. No one foresaw those things. To say the Japanese did by having available more small cars is neither fair, nor accurate. They just lucked out. Historically, they've always produced a bunch of small cars. That's because physically they're relatively small people, much smaller than us. So, when gas spiked they had a lot more small, economical vehicles to sell. But they did bomb on the timing of their anything but economical Tundra truck which they introduced at terrible time, 2007. On that they goofed but good! |

The devastating economic & financial disaster are no coincident. It was the few greedy people around the world specially in the US causes the problem. Capitalism in a Democratic society is a perfect system for any free Enterprises. It is also an opportunity for many greedy individual to scheme their way to wealth.
Capitalism without Government regulating nor monitoring individual illegal financial activities is a disaster to any Democratic Society. Capitalism create business ventures & jobs.At the same time, it also promote many illegal financial activities. Regulating Capitalism is crucial in a Democratic society. The out come of Capitalism deregulation that many US companies shipped US jobs to a cheaper labor country. In return, that finish product is sent back in the US & expect the same American consumer who have lost their job to buy this foreign made product. Some suggested that the Americans are either doesn't care nor to stupid to realized what was going on. In the midst of all this financial chaos, many Americans still hopeful that the US economy will still recover. Some it will take a while & for some the United State need to make a drastic & immediate change within Corporate & Government to save many US jobs. There is no doubt that the United State open its door to the world. We gave the idea of Free Enterprise & Open trade system. But this generosity came a great price for many Americans. The system would have work if Asia & Europeans are willing to invest in the US. But the problem was the whole world wanted the US to take the lead & make an enormous capital investment. But both Asia & Europeans have invested to little or nothing. For past 9 years the unregulated US free enterprise have cost many US jobs and eventually lead to world economic disaster. A healthy US economy means a healthy world economy. |
