Yes we really do. I have lived in Wynne all of my life and I don't notice it until I go somewhere else. People tell me i really sound country. But everyone always says that a Southern accent is really sexy so I don't complain.

Evidently most write the same way they talk. Every state has their own accent and sometime the accent varies in different parts of the same state.

I moved to charleston south Carolina for three years and when I first go there they would tell me I sounded like such a hick after a year of living there I came home to visit and everyone was telling me I sounded so strange bc I picked up an accent there. Now that I'm back again it's all "yalls" again lol

When a group of friends and I went to California some people working in a store noticed we talked different. It wasn't until we used "y'all" that they knew we were from the south.

My dad is from Cali...and he always says "you guys" instead of "y'all" it still sounds funny to me! But yes, I've had several people ask me to talk just so they can listen to me say different words...they say I sound really county (I never really noticed until I got out of arkansas)!

When we 1st moved here from the west coast hubby and I thought it funny. Some people you don't notice as much as others, even when both where born and raised in Wynne. Can't figure that out. Some have such heavy accents I can't understand them and I know they must think I am hard of hearing when I keep asking them to repeat themselves. Also, when we moved here I would have people ask me "You aren't from around here". I don't get that anymore, so I wonder if I am starting to sound like a Southern person?

I think your silly accents make you sound uneducated and unintelligent. When you post here and spell the same way you speak it just reinforces my opinion.

There are people from Arkansas that are very educated, Don't judge someone on where they live. Most people know the correct way to speak and spell, they just don't practice it. I blame that on texting !lol! To answer the question, NO we do not have accents, everyone else does. I would much rather hear "y'all" than "you guys", not everyone is a guy !

I know, I heard they don't drink sweet tea ! I had a friend say she was in california and they didn't know what a wash rag was at this hotel ( they called it a tip towel) Well, I think southern accents are cute, kind of like a british accent is cute.

I know Arkansans have an accent - Johnny Cash sounds just like my mom, who was raised in Oklahoma but had parents from Arkansas.(I have the same accent and I was born and raised in CA!)

As far as I can tell, Arkansans pronounce "on" and "gone" to rhyme with "own" rather than rhyming them with "Shawn." "Root" rhymes with "foot" instead of "hoot" and so does "roof."

Well, will you listen at me goin' own and own and own!

The accent is 'hick southern.' I was in Heathrow Airport once though and some people I was talking to asked me if I was from Australia!

My accent is so silly that no one can figure out where I'm from. I was born and raised in California, but my dad was from Nebraska (raised in Iowa) and my mom was from Oklahoma, and so I got a mixed midwestern accents (folks laugh at me when I use "yea" as a descriptive term - "That fish was about yea long" or when I use a typical Midwesternism like "I reckon," or "Well, that's a new one on me." I also pronounce some words in a typical Okie/Arkie fashion. And then there's the fact that I grew up watching and imitating Monty Python and Benny Hill, and then I Lived in Florida for 7 years, which thickened my accent no end... people have a hard time trying to figure out where I'm from.
