So what does that mean? It was 7 years ago! This was just a tragic accident! Its sad that something like this has to happen in order for them to put up some sort of safety precautions. I mean don't you think the guy feels bad knowing that he killed 6 people....give me a break...

What does a prior conviction of DUI have to do with what happened. Unless he was DUI this time and I have heard nothing to that effect. This was a terrible accident and should be treated as such. As a retired cop I have seen all kinds of accidents like this and they're terrible, but that's life. I'm sure he is devasted and has to live with the memory as well.

I have yet to hear why he crashed. Was he checked for alcohol? And why in gods name were people standing along the road unprotected? Sounds like natural selection to me.

DUI reflects that he's wreckless. We already know that. But what about the town? What kind of NUTS would plan such an event with no safety in place? Allowing wreckless race dragsters to burn rubber, pull wheelies, and race wrecklessly in the streets with bystanders piled 10 deep right on the curbs? "What were they thinking?"

DUI reflects that he may have acted reckless at one time, but that doesn't mean he is reckless. I don't drink and I don't think alcohol is a good thing. But to make assumptions about this man based on nothing is wrong. The city should have had safety at the forefront.
It was an accident and nothing more from all the info I have gathered. Everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. That's what's so wrong with our nation, we all assume too much with out being like Det. Joe Friday "just the facts maam."

Really,at the dragstrips there's concrete retaining walls that separate the spectators away from the tracks. To have this guy dragging down a regular street with hundreds of spectators lining the curb was total stupidity, the cops should have put the kybash on it before it happened.

He wasn't just dragging down a regular street for no reason. He was part of an organized parade of cars, race cars, show cars, and motorbikes. The parade was run by a nonprofit group in that town called Cars for Kids and raised money for tragedy. It was a tragic accident.

Look, drag racing is for white trash idiots like you people who defend this moron. Sure, he didn't mean to hurt or kill anyone, but only lower class goobers drive drag cars. A DUI just figures into my initial reaction when I heard about this crap. This kind of group idiocy (when grown men think that its a good idea to pull this crap in some sort of parade) makes me more elitist, and it makes southerners seem just like their unfortunate stereotypes. Just as Louisiana has yet to outlaw cockfighting, these people are still enthralled with dragsters. When I was 8 I thought they were cool too, but somewhere along the line I picked up some class and dropped that shite. You guys probably still love KISS, too. Grow up.

Somehow I ended up in the lower end of the Mason-Dixon Line. Please do not lump all of us together as gear heads or card carrying members of the KISS ARMY. I think we made cockfighting felonious here but kept wife beating as a misdemeanor. I might be wrong. I hope I am.
