I recently seen a poll today that asks this question " Do you trust police to honor your rights" (based on online voting 1435 votes) here are the Staggering choice results.
1) Yes I Trust The Police: 5.99%
2) Don't Trust the Police 60.84%
3) I actually fear the police 27%
Police trust is even MUCH lower then a used car salesman!!!! This speaks volumes on a job that required the highest moral authority. Imagine where NINETY FOUR PERCENT OF US DO NOT TRUST THE POLICE!!!
As we civilians are held to be responsible for your actions thru our judicial system, police officers are not held to the same standard we are despite being sworn to be civil servants. Police Matters are handles internally with no way of finding out what punishment or steps to correct the situation was even taken.
Chances are everyone of us has had a bad a experience or run in with police, where its obvious they are having a bad day and we are the person in there cross hair so they can shed there misery on us.
As Americans we have certain rights we have fought long and hard for and the main reason the police have lost all credibility with the community is the lack compassion or judgement when facing certain circumstances.
The commitment to a code of ethics is unconditional. You don't lower your ideals (or revise your mission statement) just because circumstances in the environment have changed. The true test of character is keeping your faith in the face of adversity.
The biggest issue today's police are having is RESPECT, as we all know to get respect you must give respect (when earned) and here is a major issue today with the police. Today's police officers are disconnected from the general public with their us vs them attitudes most have.
How can we respect the men in blue when they ignore our rights, or try to manipulate a situation in there favor at all cost. When revenue is what they base their merit on?
When common sense has all but disappear with police, the old saying of let the punishment fit the crime is a thing of the past, where a minor offense like 1 Marijuana joint can get you probation, loss of a job, your dignity and right to OWN A FIREARM. and even when you have your legal medical marijuana card they still treat you like a criminal and not someone who could actually benefit from the medical aspect of the drug which Michigan voted on and 68% approved.
By far the biggest issue is when our rights have been violated and evidence the police have is being kept from the one's who are innocent. Remember they are here to PROTECT AND SERVE yet we are being attacked by over zealous police officers who are clearly violating our rights and when we tried to protect ourselves with technology that is available to protect both the officer and civilian the police station can and have ultimately tell you NO YOU CANNOT HAVE THE POLICE VIDEO TAPE TAKE IT TO CIRCUIT COURT WITH NO REASON GIVEN.
Now we ALL KNOW if we are guilty the tape is GLADLY given to the person who is requesting the tape thru the Freedom of information act of 2008. If we are clearly innocent and its clear our RIGHTS HAVE BEEN VIOLATED the answer is NO, spend thousands more defending your rights and potential police record which can ruin families and lives.
This is police corruption at its best, when they choose to violate our rights (so they can a few more points in there monthly ticket or revenue charts for illegal arrest) they all TRUST goes out the window.
The very safeguard set up to protect us is protecting the police not civilians unless you are willing to possible spend a ton of money getting the info WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO SEE.
Police today do not even know our 4th amendment rights, and the ones that do will still try to violate your rights unless you know exactly what to say at the moment (which 99% of us do not)
What can be done? Know your rights!!!! What you don't know WILL HURT YOU!!!!!!!!!!

It looks to me that the police are gonna be in trouble trying to control these gangs out here. And now the city let a biker club in the city and no one to enforce the law because the law is out numbered and will not be able to control the safety of the people.
