Run down little town

Why is Wright City in such disrepair? From the highway all you see is tall weeds and at least a dozen abandoned buildings. When entering the city it does not get any better! Trailer parks abound! Nothing against trailer parks...when they are kept up. The ones in Wright City are not. And donít get me started on that festering mess on Highway J! How can those shacks be fit for occupancy? Why doesn't the city force those folks to clean up that terrible mess!
What are the Mayors plans?...if any

Very good points, passing through. Some would argue Mayor Eileen Klocke and the Wright City Board of Aldermen will soon take up the issue - starting, perhaps, with the eyesore that is the site of the former Bob's Big Boy restaurant. Others will point out the issue is a longstanding one and city leaders should already have done something. I hope to find out soon what Mayor Klocke thinks of opinions like yours (from what I hear, you are not alone in that opinion).

The Bob's Big Boy restaurant is a large portion of the collective eyesores visible from the road, however; let us take a look at the mess Bill Beanie has been allowed to accumulate at the "Elvis" museum! Letís get that wreck pulled down before HE claims it as a historical landmark!
While we are cleaning up the town lets mow the weeds and pick-up the trash along the on and off-ramps. Then we can turn our attention to the terrible chain link fencing along the highway.
Once we have this under our belts lets, tackle hwy "J". Letís pass some city ordnances and force the folks to clean it up. How many abandoned car can one person have? Has the WCPD bothered to run any registration checks on them?
Címon, Mayor! Do your job! Do you own interest in these properties?
To respond to another blog on the same topic. I know what you mean about redirecting friends. I always say I live by Innsbrook.

The Elvis museum, is one of the main things that I remember while traveling through your state. It would be a shame for it to not be there.I say... Make it a land mark...............

Yikes!! I'm actually making an appointment to look at a home for sale in Wright City. Is it really this bad? How are the schools?? If junk is allowed to accumulate is the city safe for my children to play in?

It really is a nice little town! The ones that run it just need to enforce the rules that should be in place. No junk cars, ect. ect. need more variety of shops though none here to really amount to any thing.

Listen up everyone!
I was born to Wright City...later in the years my family moved to a different town.
I can remember as a small child going in the little store owned by Mr. and Mrs..Rybolt on the corner.
What I am saying is Hwy. J has been like this all my life and I am 54.
I will agree something needs to be done...but I don't think it will ever change.
Until the next time...Goodwell to all.

I would never move to Wright City again!!! The public servants here just "prop their feet up" and do nothing! They eyesores and run-down properties and such aren't the worst of it! People are getting hurt and paying taxes out here for NO SERVICES, PROTECTIONS, OR INVESTIGATIONS!

I lived in WC and it was the most horrible experience of my life. There are so many drug dealers etc. Meth heads, some people i knew (BLP), take thier friends to the grocery store with thier food stamps and as pay back they get drugs. BP wink wink, steals from Walmart, total dead beat. she has kids. Poor kids. Drugs alcohol abuse you name it. She even gets Necac for living in her fathers home and he lives there too.
The town is a complete mess, mistakes were made when i witnessed a dumb newby checking water levels for city water. sometimes they never checked the levels and just charged homeowners whatever. The dang bill for WC high school was over 100 thousand. You just can't do that. Oh and what about the craps games going on, on WC company time. The little water shed across the street from Pine forest. WC employees get paid to play craps and dice games.
I know of a lot of dirty dealings that went on. This was in 2005. Let me go on to say Hillbilly Heaven had a lot of illegal acts going on as well after hours. They are a bunch of dumb asses. Ask Dano about what he does in his office. Naked drunk girls,I hate WC and will never ever move there again. Do not in anyway shape or form trust anyone at City HALL
It is a terrible eye sore to drive by WC, that big boys resturant, the high weeds, CITY WORKERS why don't you get up off your asses and quit hangin around the bar and clean up your nasty city.

Not really lots of Meth heads, stay away from Highway F on Beeny Hill. They break every law there is.
The Schools are discusting too, nothing is fair there. Miss Jones the flags and dance instructor plays favorites hopefully she is gone.
SOOO many Drugs, Fights, Corruption, you name it. Run as fast as you can. I lived there for 6 years and I barely got out alive.

I have to agree with "WC sucks"...Ms Jones is gone. She was a good instructor but a lot of things are still wrong with the school. I would advise you to move to Ofallon or even Warrenton. Stay out of WC...too many drugs not enough law enforcement.
Of Course

NO WARRENTON EITHER.......UNLESS YOU HAVE ZERO TEETH, THEN YOU SHALL FIT RIGHT IN! Wentzville, LSL, O'Fallon even Troy are all much much better than Warren County

There seems to be a 15 mile wide swath, roughly centered on I-70, that presents the biggest problems for law enforcement. This is especially true of Warren and Montgomery counties. Drugs(from pot to heroin), drunk drivers, prostitution, etc. have easy access to the interstate. When you add complacent and/or ineffectual local officials, it's easy to see how things go wrong and stay that way. The economy just adds impetus to the entire situation. Fewer businesses means less taxes and jobs. At the rate that businesses are going under, will it be long before WC, Warrenton or Jonesburg will just become one of those forgotten exits on the way to someplace that has their stuff together?
