And you right-wing nutjobs wonder why we need segregated schools for our gay students? Just look at the awful, homophobic comments made in this thread already. And the fact that this "story" is a story to begin with is the first problem. This poor man has to suffer a life being a closeted gay man living in redneck, uneducated rural Minnesota and he has to pretend to be straight and have a girlfriend. This guy has suffered enough.
Mrs R you forgot the part about blaming the evil white republicans and Gov. Pawlenty for budget cuts to social service programs and education as your basis of why this sicko went wrong. And since you are so good at calling everyone on topix a racist, teabagging terrorist, or right wing nut job, I find your quote "living in redneck, un-educated rural Minnesota" to be offensive. But, I am not the least surprised by your support of this "Sleepwalking Pervert". Being gay is one thing, being gay and molesting a child is another. Just keep drinking that kool-aide Mrs R.

I knew it was too good to be true. All this week the PP has has morally uplifting, feel-good stories about the advancements of gays, lebians and bixsexuals in our oppressive culture. Then they have to go and ruin their good record by putting some garbage, homophobic, anti-gay story like this in the paper. This would not be a story if it weren't for a gay man being the protagonist. How sad the PP has to stoop so low as to do this. Just when I think they are turning a corner for the better they go and do this.

I can't believe some of the violent, anti-gay comments that many of our so-called "civilized" readers are making!

Exactly what are you talking about? I looked back through the posts and haven't found a single homophobic comment. In fact, you're the one that wrote "suffer a life being a closeted gay man". When a nude adult climbs into bed with a child...NEWSFLASH it's not OK. When a nude adult follows a child around the house...NEWSFLASH it's not OK. So are you defending his actions? Would your opinion be different if this were a 13 year old female? Re-read the article and then think about the irregularities in behavior. I couldn't possibly care less if this man is gay...if he is, good for him, he'd probably be much happier if he admits it to himself.

I was referring to the comments about why the other father didn't "do anything" to this poor man. They implied that he should have been met with a little vigilante justice. That is so wrong. If anything, I'd say that this other man showed good moral support and didn't act like a typical rural redneck and want to "kick some azzz" every time they see a gay man or an Afro American or anyone who doesn't drive a pickup with a Confederate flag on the back. That kind of restraint is hard to find in uneducated, rural Minnesota, sadly.

This "story" really should not have even been a story. The guy didn't do anything! It's a non-story! Do you honestly think if a straight guy had done some inadvertant sleepwalking and accidentally walked into his daughter's friend's room that it would make the newspaper? Hardly! This is just homophobic sensationalism.

You know, I can't remember the last time I saw a pickup with a confederate flag on the back here in rural Minnesota. Mrs. R, are you having geography issues? We aren't exactly the south, here. Rural does not equate to a yebel yell.

But your trolling with the gay thing is brilliant. Guaranteed to get other people going. Get a life, will you? I hate trolls.

Once again you post a comment just to get attention, and once again I can't help but give it to you Mrs R. Yes , it would make the paper if this freak went into a girls room. What makes the judgement easy for me to make is that he was following the poor boy around the house. Makes the sleepwalking excuse seem pretty thin to me.

I just can't get around the whole "tried to kiss" and following from room to room. There are far more articles showing up that are far less news-worthy than this. If it is in fact all a mis-understanding, then that will come out when in court. However, the boy and his father did the right thing by contacting authorities...perhaps to preclude a future sexual assault.

For such an intelligent woman, you really say some stupid stuff.

There is a huge difference between being gay and being a pedophile.

First, let's not overdue it with the "intelligent woman" statement regarding Mrs R. Even with this guy being a pedophile, Mrs R would just blame his condition on the evil republicans, and Gov. Pawlenty's budget cuts to education and social programs. And you can see by her comments that anyone outside the urban/metro area is a pick-up owning, confederate flag owning, un-educated, dumb, redneck, white person. She loves to get everyone going with her troll posts.
