'Nothing off table' as Worth negotiates contracts

Worth is looking at "all options" - including the possibility of disbanding its police force in order to cut spending - as village officials negotiate for new contracts with municipal employees.

what does this mean? does it mean Keller wants Cook County patrolling our town or does it mean he wants Worth's local police dept. to remain intact? he sounds pretty evasive about giving his residents a straight answer. Is this a strong arm tactic he's using against the police dept's union to force them to drop their grievance and civil suit for unfair labor practice or does he believe this is a decision that will make fiscal sense and provide us with proper public safety? I know one thing for sure, there is no way im paying this amount of taxes and waiting 20 or 30 minutes for Cook County to respond to my police calls when I need them. He needs to formulate a plan and move forward instead of flying by the seam of his pants.

How much are these attorney fees going to cost the village? An unfair labor practice claim and a grievance? That sounds pretty expensive and Odelson & Sterk is a pretty big name as far as local firms go. Keller better not be using budget money to wage war against the village's employees.

I love the Worth Police. They have provided our town with incredible service over the years. I make sure I waive to the Officer watching speeders on Harlem Ave in the school zones every morning.

I'm a union worker myself and some of this stuff that the mayor and his crony trustees are doing are the exact reasons why labor forces created unions. Blatant violations of contracts and public threats are no way of conducting business in my town. I think its time for some new faces on the Village Board. Im calling Trustee Rheintoday to find out what all of this means. Hopefully she can give me a straight answer

Nothing against cook county but one beat meaning one car has an area that includes parts orland, palos park, alsip, worth, bridgeview, palos hills palos heights, crestwood, and maybe a few more towns. i know throwing the entire village of worth into that will only increase responce times to our village and the other sections of unincorporated cook county. Attend the village meeting tonight at the Worth Village Hall and ask some questions.

Also what is with the mayor getting special treatment getting a new street sign placed on his street. I hear he wants to replace all of them throughout the village to yellow and black. Whats that going to cost? he'll do that but he won't keep the PD.

I heard through the grapevine that the mayor actually forwarded a letter to the trustees and police chief saying that he contacted Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart and requested police service for our village. He did this without asking the people of this village that he was elected to represent? Has anybody else heard this? Say it ain't so

Unreal, are you telling me that when I have a question or assistance I'll be waiting forever for county to show up, that's bull. What is this Village thinking it seems like they hate the police and don't respect and care what happens to the men and women of the police department. Are you telling me that the only solution is to sell out the police department, yeah right. The residents in Worth need to come together and support the Worth Police because you will never know when you need there help QUICKLY. If you truly feel this way, show up to the Worth Village meetings and voice your concerns and tell this Mayor and Trustees we don't want County to patrol our streets, Ohhhh that's right you won't see them patrol the streets of Worth and crime and breakins will sky rocket...don't say I didn't warn you. Most residents don't realize the little things like the worth police vehicles just being visable deters crime and you won't see that with cook counties lack of presence and there response times being too late and the criminals will know this and will be more active and we as residents will suffer..Support OUR police and voice your concerns to the Village board....Spread the word before its too late.
