Wegman's did not quit selling ciggarettes for the health of the general public. They quit selling ciggarettes because sales were down, and so were their profit margins on ciggarettes. Thinking that the heir apparent has enough sense in his empty head to be environmentally correct gives him too much credit. Bob Wegman knew how to run the grocery business, and now that he is gone, so are Wegman's ethics, customer service, and community responsibilities. Alcohol is profitable, and that is why they want to sell wine and put all the local little liquor stores out of business. They have a Walmart set of ethics, and would just as soon be the ONLY store for everything, the public be damned.

That's it right there. Don't think for one second that Wegmans cares for these kinds of fish. If there was a demand for Marlin where people would pay any price for it without complaining about it, you know darn well you could walk into Wegmans right now and buy it. This is just a publicity ploy, plain and simple.

Nice try in trying to twist this person's words around you brain dead moron. It isn't Wegman's fault for people dying from drinking. That wasn't implied. This person is saying that Wegmans is still going to sell beer in their stores because people are going to buy it like crazy and they don't want to lose money or customers because of that.

Wegmans should be less business savvy. If something isn't selling they should keep it on the shelves. If something sells well take it of the shelves. Are you people serious? Come on they have a right to make a profit and are doing so. If you don't want to shop there, then don't. I'm sure they won't care.

Wegamns is one of the few stores that sell alcohol that really proofs people. If people want to be stupid and drink themselves to death so be it.

Again I applaude Wegmans for making hard but right decisions for the community, environment and in this case the world- rather than only being concerned with business. They are really gaining my long term loyalty.

there is no conspiracy here. just the fact that the wont sell this fish because of the negative impact on the environment. but they will sell booze that is known to kill thousands every year

If u dont like it go to Tops and Pay more for stuff they dont care about either. They must be real ethical since they dont make any money.
So all the programs Wegmans puts on for the community goes unnoticed since they stopped selling an item. They are a PRIVATE company and can chose to sell what they want. There are other options to the consumer so use them. Im sure youll be back to Wegmans.

Who says there is a conspiracy here? What is going on here is so obvious that it needs no conspiracy to cloud it. Wegmans made this decision not to sell Marlin because it would be a great public relations ploy for them. They want people to say "you see what they did? What a nice thing. Let's do our shopping there from now on."

They need to stop paying their Union Truck drivers and warehouse workers $29.00 an hour. The marlin's will not sink Wegman's but the Union will just like GM. I am sure Wegman's was loosing money on this product. They could care less about fish population. They better stop paying truck drivers $29.00 an hour or they will not be selling anything soon. The average truck driver makes $14.00 an hour. That must be why we pay 20% more for products at Wegmans.
