What surrounding area would be the cheapest, low crime rate, good schools with good sports, least "political" issues in sports, distance to alot of activities, water-side community, best views, short drive to Puyallup, least pollution, but area with least rain on the east side of the Cascades? I like boating communities, but moving with three kids from WV and need to have an easy transition, hence the need for activities and good community. I would also love to have scenery of either a port or mountains. Any suggestions? It rains alot here in the river valley, so someplace that has sunshine at least 3 days a week would be good.

scenery of mountains...you really haven't done your research of the area. If you want to live looking at the port then there are plenty of opportunites, seattle more expensive and tacoma less than so. Forget the sun during the winter....not gonna happen. If you are coming here from WV, not a troll, then do some more research...there is plenty on our beautiful, expensive or getto, enviroment that you wish to live. lol...sun shine 3 days a week....that makes me laugh

I am thinking Sumner, Buckley, Enumclaw. These are inland towns but not too far from water. Any way you look at it, WA is going to be way loads more expensive to live in than WV. As far as crime goes, I would avoid any community that is transversed by I-5. I hope you have a good job waiting for you. Good Luck!

I agree with Gee Wally; however, stay away from some of those areas. shhhh methheads. Go towards the sea from Olympia on west...stay away from Seattle or Tacoma and west. Try Yelm or even head towards the coast. just my opinion...i'm sure people will disagree.
Thank you

We are coming from an area that has rain all the time, and it is a river valley, but not real boating community because the water is polluted and barges are the ones that really only use it. Pollution is bad here and the cost of living is about the same as Washington. The cost our our utilities (invidually) sometimes cost as much as a house payment. The PSC approves rate hikes constantly and the whole state wants to continue depending on coal. I have ressearched for this area for over a year, yet have not visited it. So I am trying to get some advice because we are moving with children. I am thinking homes in the $1300 -$1500 range, but low crime rate and a good school that may have a rep for softball and football. Ideas on the Puyallup area?
Thank you

By the way, we are not trolls. We are moving there to better our lives and our children's lives. Education is our number one priority, which is the main attraction to your state. Given my education is geared more toward conservation, I cannot find proper employment here, in Coal country.

Just do your research. The Puget Sound is beautiful on days like today but other days like the past two weeks were misable. As for housing, housing here has affected our area so you may get a house at the price that you are asking...I can't guarentee it. Being close to the Cascades and the Olympic mountains are a blessing but don't confuse yourself in thinking you will get that view everyday or even one day a week. Good luck in moving here, hope it meets your desires but at least keep some type of safety net open if the weather here doesn't meet your expectations.

Some of these guys are trolls, they're not giving you good information, Sumner, Buckley, Enumclaw are bad Meth areas. Do you know what I recommend? Get as nice of apartment that you can afford in the Seattle area. Get your kids enrolled in the Mercer Island school system. My old man says they're begging for kids. You'll have to drive them, but it was a great school system that served me well through life. I don't know what it's like now, but there used to be apartments on Island Crest drive, but I think they're all gone now.

I know that you "seattleites" hate Californians, but West Virginians are pretty laid back. They're not the ones that ruined my home, Californians are.

Good luck, and from what it reads, you have good intentions for your children. I wish more people had parents like you, perhaps the welfare system wouldn't be so clogged and broken.

BTW, the Skiing is better than it is up at horseshoe, you're going to love it. We used to be friendly up in the PNW, but the Californians kind of ruined it. I remember motor biking up on Tiger Mountain, keggers along the river beds, all that... long gone.

best wishes

My friend lives in Vancouver Washington which is only 15 mins from Seattle. She loves it there and is raising a family. I even know some great moving companies in Seattle if you decide to locate around there. http://www.cascademovingandstorage.com/
