<quoted text>Nobody is talking about working in industrial settings under the influence. Again, perfectly legal perscription drugs can qualify someone being unfit for duty. You seem to be having a hard time consolidating the two. Just because you have it in your system does not mean you are under the influence. That is why legalization complicates the issue. While you may be in your perfect right in determining what someone does while they're at work and how they are at work, you have no right to decide what they can do or cannot do on a Friday night in the privacy of their own home. Right now, it's not an issue because it's against federal law, but if it becomes legal federally, no matter how you feel about it, there will be nothing you can do. It will be the equivellent to firing someone for drinking milk.(not raw milk, mind you, that's against the law)
Then YOU come up with a system to indicate levels in the system like the BAT does for alcohol. That's the main problem. Without a field test to show levels to determine when you last smoked, the ZERO tolerance will have to stand.

No it doesn't. Not anymore than allowing tobacco smokers to work for you.
W R O N G !!!! Have an accident on the premises with injuries involving someone under the influence whether it be the injured party or the person causing the injury and see what happens to your rates. That's why both parties involved have to be tested at the hospital or lab immediately.

who="KittenKoder"]St upid dooms day preachers, it's only complicated because the people making it complicated are idiots. Can you smoke there? Yes or no, that's all you need to do. Just like tobacco, just predefine your policy and it's fine.

You're absolutely right!!!! Some businesses don't care and aren't covered by rules larger companies are so those who insist on smoking MJ should stick to those jobs, not try to hire on in a zero tolerance place and play adolescent cat-and-mouse games until they get caught.

Considering how many people are high on medications when they work heavy equipment already ... oh, what was your point again?

Well, thank you for at least agreeing with me on my main stance. Not sure if they were trying to respond to me or trying to plagiarize what I posted, but hey.

If they are sick enough to be on heavy medication, the doctors won't give them a release to come back to full duty. If they lie and get caught, they are treated the same as a stoner, out the door.

That can happen but that's why you have supervisors and foremen to watch over your flock to keep them from straying. It would be great if we didn't have to worry about petty things like that and could focus 100% on production and making a good living and future for all the employees. There will always be a few in any company that aren't completely on board. It just takes time to weed them out.

Yes, so again back to my original point, it only "complicates" matters because someone wants to decry it, not because there is actually an issue.

What is your problem pal??

You cry all this crap yet let alcoholics work for you, as well as people under the influence of cold meds that are very mind altering to one who needs split second thinking while they are doing their jobs.

Do you require this crap with your alcoholic employees??

Or you conveniently leaving those people out??

Get over it already, there are plenty of employers out there who whole heartedly DISAGREE with you.

Quit sticking your damn nose in other peoples private lives, you would not like people doing that to you.

I have no "alcoholic" employees who drink on the job. They know better. What people do on their time is their business but if the rules plainly state you can't be drunk or have MJ in your system on company time,on company premises, then that's the way it is. Long time employees feel better about not having to worry about their safety and wellbeing by not having to be concerned about dopeheads and stoners in their work area.

Wow....finally a thread specifically designed for ThomasA to spread his propaganda. Amazing how I never found this thread earlier.....not that I care what I prohibitionist has to say but, I do enjoy watching 99 out of 100 people openly mock him on his ignorance to look at facts and statistics.
