There was a caller on K101 early last week upset about the new movie theatre owner not agreeing to have a special showing for the football team and their dates after each home game. That person, who had a booth at K101's Fall-A Days a few weeks previous, called K101 to complain that he didn't get his way. That gave K101 another chance to bash the City Commission for giving incentives to the new theatre owners. The football dad said he was sending an email to all of the booster club encouraging them not to ever attend a movie at this thatre. K101 agreed. The football dad also said if the new owner was such a good businessman, he should return all of the incentive money and build the new complex himself. K101 agreed. K101 went on to name city commissioners, city manager and CFO, and others who were instrumental in bring a theatre back to Woodward.
The new owner got word of this conversation, and decided he would hold their feet to the fire. He posted a statement on Facebook saying that due to recent conflict in Woodward, the last day of operation for the Lakeside Theatre would be Oct 31. That prompted over 2,500 people in NW Oklahoma to "friend" Lakeside Theatres and ask them to reconsider and stay. On Sunday afternoon, the new owners posted a statement on Facebook saying that due to unbridled support, they were in fact staying, and will resume building plans in early 2012.
K101 said on air this morning that the entire ordeal was blown out of proportion. All they wanted was an explanation of the incentive package that the city agreed to with the theatre owners. K101 said that he was raised 4 blocks from where he was broadcasting, and he was Pro-Woodward. PLEASE. Time and time again,J Douglas Williams has taken advantage of the platform he owns to blast progressive measures like Fuller Park, Crystal Beach, salaries of city employees, police matters, and most recently bashing a OHP who he didn't like.
The chickens finally came home to roost.

WOW! Sounds like J Doug is just pissed he didn't get his way! I wonder who this football dad is.....sounds like he isn't setting a very good example to his children. If he wants a special viewing for his son and the rest of the football team, then he should host it in his living room, and not expect a business to bend over backwards for them.

You nailed it. His name is Stan Dennison, and he didn't get his way. He thought by getting on the radio and stating his case, that all of his little friends would boycott the theatre. Little did he know that the theatre turned the tables, and it backfired, BIGTIME!!!!
One lady in town asked why it was up to churches, restaurants, and movie theatres to occupy our kids time. Good question.
This morning on K101, one of their biggest advertisers went tow to toe with J Doug, and mopped up the floor with him. People are tired of being bullied. I know if 3 major advertisers that have paid their contracts off at K101 and are going elsewhere.
No one ever talks about the President Bush visit that J Doug and his nephew ruined. They got money from Convention and Visitors Bureau for t-shirts,sent the t-shirts to Iraq because they were not right, and pocketed the money. J Doug ended up suing his nephew for breech of contract to try and save face. He says he is pro Woodward, but you gather more flies with sugar than you do with vinegar. A continued barrage aganst the city commission will not win you any favors.
If this hits him hard enough in his back pocket, he might, might, might ease up a little. He is a trouble maker.

From the theatre to Take it Back. Now, local real estate mogul Doug Eagon has started a smear campaign against the city commission all because he was not asked to be incuded on any of the committees for the new conference center. First it was the church he was after, then the sheriff, and now the city commission. His ax should be worn down to a frazzle by now. We will see who is in the majority come April 3.

Mr. Eagon is no longer the head of the Republican Party in Woodward. Even his own party got tired of him. Mr. Eagon went after Main Street this year also. Trying to stop the renovation. Sad sad little man. I guess he just doesn't like Woodward to grow and do well. His sidekick Steve Snider is doing the same.

Funny you should bring that person up. We were getting ready to move to Woodward last December, and we met with this guy, Eagon. By the time he got through slinging mud at 75% of the Woodward leaders, we were ready to look for a new real estate agent. Some of the things he said were very slanderous. We got in touch with another agent, and she led us through the process in a very positive manner.
If anyone is considering relocating to Woodward, DO NOT CONTACT DOUG EAGON for anything. We are in the process of relocating 10 more families to Woodward, and we will DESIGN the moves with someone else!!

I doubt if he has ever bought anything on Main Street in Woodward. All of his cars come from OKC, as do his clothes, food, home furnishings, etc. Yet, he thinks he is the King of Real Estate in Woodward. That is the true mark of a selfish self centered egotistical maniac.
After his crash the other day in Woodward, he went right to OKC and bought another new car. I say Boycott his business and the insurance agancy associated with that business.
Anyone with me?

Mary T. I am so sorry that one of the first contacts with Woodward was with someone so negative. Woodward is a great place to raise kids, we have alots of caring wonderful people, great businesses, super teachersÂ…and our leaders... who were all raised here decided to raised their children here too. THEY LOVE Woodward and want the best for our community. Woodward is doing GREAT and we truely welcome new people. Mr. Eagon has a sad personality and puts down Woodward any chance he gets. We have had businesses want to come here but they have had a contact with Mr. Eagon and they change their minds. A builder of Apartments was one of them. Many people wish he would move because he hurts this community more than alot of people know, but he has been this way for years and years. He never volunteers for anything, but he complains about EVERYTHING. It seems he thinks everyone is crooked. I always thought if you cant trust anyone it is a sure sign YOU can't be trusted. If he would put all that anger into something good maybe he would be happier.
I also like the way you think Zola. HE is NOT a supporter of Woodward, only a taker.
