This letter is being composed by a die hard fan of the Woodville football program.
I would like to thank the young men who are comprised of that team, for their undieing effort week after week. I know most of you are J.V. but you have shown such courage to be able to play Varsity teams who are way beyond your tenure.
The players who are Varsity I would like to commend you on your support of the younger players knowing without them there would not be a Varsity team and you took them in like older brothers.
You guys have been an inspiration excemplifying true courage. There are others in your school who secretly wished they had the tremendous tenacity
you young soldiers have shown through this football season. You are not quitters and like young soldiers you have perservered each week and moved onto your next mission like a band of brothers.
This season you may have been sent to the woodshed by those 1A and 2A teams but in a few years you will remember this experience and know you were the only ones willing to do it for each other and your school. You will look back and say "WE did it" this is where true school spirit begins through every sense of the word and you do indeed have that spirit.
You have become well disaplined, not alot of young men can withstand the regourous training. I challenge anyone to say they can and become members of this outstanding Varsity team.
You see fellows there are benefits that you all possess that other boys don't have. First, with other football players, you would not be able to learn your position as well. Week after week practice after practice you have learned "your position".
You also, secondly, have not fallen into the easy arrogance of being number 1.
You have never expressed cockiness on or off the field. That is a blessing in it's self. You know how it feels to be the underdog and that in itself is priceless.
Jesus was an underdog and he was not there for long and neither will you be.
Coach Pair is a great coach and like many coaches he gets discouraged just like you all do. Stay with him and you will be a great team and you are and will be an inspiration to future Panthers.
I would like you to thank yourselves and each other for being there when times got tough. Through thick and thin you endured. You are fighters.
Go you Mighty Panthers and God Bless all of you. Good Luck next season!

I wrote this letter 3 years ago. Since than my opinion of the Woodville Panthers football team has not changed. We have had several graduate last year and several more will be graduating this year. During these last 3 years the band of brothers have sustained many injuries. Ones that have been life changing. Richie Wilkins a returning Jr.has had ACL,MCL,PCL and 3 torn legiments replaced and repaired in 2008 he was a 7th grader playing Varsity Football. Now again last year he tore the same ACL and has surgery again. Grant Ball a returning Sr. has had ACL surgery last year and tore his MCL Friday night. AJ Black a returning Sr. has had a torn ACL and has had surgery. Anthony Stansell another Sr who has had several surgeries will be returning this year. Brandon Houston a Jr broke his collar bone in a Spring Jam, 3 years ago. These young men are the apedimy of tough because they refuse to give up. These are the type of men who will go and fight for our country one day. I for one already know I can count on them when the going gets tough. These guys put me in the mind of the old story Gung-A-Din he never said a word when the squirrel ate his chest and died while standing in his armour. He was a mere child of 12. Thank you to all the band of brother never have you all had a knock out winning season but all of you are the pride of Woodville High Football.
