Farmer markets are a good thing for farmers and consumers.
However, it doesn't benefit a farmer who isn't doing this type of farming. We have people who organize these projects with good intentions, however, they just don't understand agriculture. These markets don't solve all the problems of agriculture in NJ.
There are all kinds of farming and everyone assumes just because you are a farmer that you should have a farm stand or do a farmers market.
It doesn't benefit a farmer who isn't doing this type of farming. There is a reason why you don't see dairy farmers, can-house farmers or hay farmers etc. at these markets.
WholeFoods that would benefit farmers and consumers and community. They support local farmers and they carry organic and healthy foods and products. It is especially good if anyone has food allergies or are just trying to keep healthy. This company also does alot to fight local poverty too.
Joe leone of East Greenwich and Eddie Byrnes of Pilesgrove grow mostly for can-house and they have contracts with companies that supply food all over the United States and don't have the time to convert. Also, the costs of travel, insurance and other liabilities need to be considered. Leone, Byrnes, Brooks, Katona grow tomatoes for Don Pepino Tomato sauce the oldest and only Tomato processing plant in NJ located in Glassboro under Violet Packing.
So, you want to help the farmers buy Don Pepino tomato sauce.
Good luck with the local markets!

don't get me wrong. I love farmers markets. The best sweet corn is grown by Andy Buzby and his family.
