Do yourself a favor, do not move to Browns Mills. There is a lot of crime, homeless people walking around, drug dealers/users, murderers. The cost of living is low and therefore attracts and keeps these types of individuals. Unfortunately there are plenty of law abiding citizens mixed in with this bunch who have to look over their shoulders and fend for themselves. It is just a fact of life.
Disagree. I have lived here all my life...never had a problem. All towns have what you described...Browns Mills is not like...let's say Willingboro where ironically it appears you are from!

twenty years ago, Country lakes was a beautiful place. Then, all the kids, (my generation) grew up and took over, and now this place is a suburban Ghetto filled with trash. Don't let them fool you, this place sucks for raising children. I mean sure you can do it right, but you can't let them play with any others around here. For one thing the sex offender number is high, the kids that would be there age have parents of my generation. ie, the trash. This place has REALLY gone done hill and the cops don't do much about it. But all in all, if you move here, move to CL vs PL. PL is filled even more so with the trash. Every one wants to be a redneck thug, or just straight up thug. And you know what they say, Most wantabes end up being.

CL is not nicer than PL lets not steer people in the wrong direction here, both areas pretty much have the same type of people and neither are not white trash. The only difference is the properties in PL are built on bigger lots however does not have city water and sewer I believe.Or you can live acrossed the highway rt 70 and your kids will be in a better school district"thats where the real problem with this town lies".

i am a disabled women who bourght a beautiful home here in bm, only here 3 yrs, and it suxs, i moved here to retire and live the rest of my life out. the town is gross, all dirt bags neighbors, the town does nothing to help keep homeowners safe, nor make them clean up properties. code inforcement does nothing here. we have dog abusers, we have renters who took over my beautiful block. cops don't do shit here. it took them over an hour to get here the other night. i am not feeling safe anymore. but i am staying, i will get my block back. we learned there is no noise ordenance here. no curefew. this could be a great little place if someone took control.

Can you tell me a little about Flavorland....My father owned it in the late 50'2 early 60's (I can't remember the exact year). I am trying to find a picture of it.

I was a summer resident of Browns Mills from 1950 to 1968. I remember riding a bike on a dirt path behind our house (which now has the shopping center location) to Wollmer's. It was the only grocery store in Browns Mills at the time(other than the bus stop). I also remember Flavorland and the Pig n Whistle Inn. Browns Mills used to be a beautiful resort town. The Mirror Lake was always filled with canoes, sailboats, row boats and kids swimming at the main beach and Catalano's. I also remember Sorrentino's Restaurant and Max's Beach. I still drive through Browns Mills on my way to the shore just to see what it is like. Sad to say, it certainly has changed but I still hold a place in my heart for the little town of my childhood. Lots of wonderful memories there.

I may have a few. Will have to look through some old photos. I lived in Browns Mills during the summer from 1951 through 1968. I remember Flavorland so well. We walked there two or three times a week and hung out with the Chick and Ted Morgan, Jack Christy, the Haines' Ray and Gary Minker, all of the old crowd. Wonderful, fond memories. Wish I could bring the Browns Mills I knew back.

Peg, I would really appreciate it if you could find some pictures. My family is scanning in old pictures from our childhood to put together a CD as a keepsake for our children.

I have a Facebook Group called the Pemberton Township Time Capsule which is full of Photos and history information. My husband and I were both curators of the N. Pemberton RR Station Museum and I am a local historian who lived my whole life in Browns Mills. I am 70 years old and if you friend me on Facebook (Leetta Salayi Tamn) I will help you with any information you might need if I can.

it is not where I want to raise my children you have all the young kids running around thinking they are thugs you cant go to the store without being asked for change you have shootings and killing crime rate is going up you cant have anything without it being stolen you work hard for what you do have just for someone to take it I lived here for a while and wouldn't tell anyone this is a good place to live.

I see kids running around being kids..which for this day and age appears to be thug like...its just how they dress...no different than the bell bottoms and long hair of the 70s....or the fad of any other era. I have lived in Brownsmills for 13 years and have never been asked for change when entering a store except by the fine volunteers of Deborah Heart and Lung Center or perhaps a veterans organization or school group and I have never had anything stolen. I'm not saying these things don't happen in Brownsmills. These things happen everywhere.......... Lumberton, Mt Holly, Medford......... all of the surrounding area and in the world in general. They are no more prevalent here than anywhere else.

Browns Mills seems to have affordable homes but I know nothing about it.There are so many areas(Presidential Lakes, Country Lake Estates, etc.).Does the area flood often? Looking for a town that is kid friendly, has good schools and a pretty area.(We love the outdoors). Thank you for any information you can give me!

It took me quite some time to read thru all these posts. I have lived in Pemberton Township since 1981. My Father retired from the Army/Military Police at Ft. Dix having lived there since 1978. I lived all over the country and hated leaving my friends, so I decided come hell or high water, I'm staying put. Everyone knows we do have problems here, but with some effort, Pemberton Township can be wonderful. We need the Good People to stay. Since the housing crash in 2008, there are plenty of vacant houses should anyone wish to move here. Our Township, IMHO, has been in steady decline for some time and it bothers me because this is my home too. Pemberton Township currently has the Highest General Purpose Tax Rate in Burlington County. Our overall Tax Bill may be low, but that is due to our Property Values being depressed. Between the Pemberton Township Municipal Government, the PT Water Dept., and the PTMUA, Pemberton Township is almost $40 Million in Debt. There is talk of PT purchasing the Browns Mills Shopping Center (old ACME) and then re-selling it to a Developer. This would be a huge mistake. The Tax Payers will lose hundreds of thousands if not over a million dollars. The Mayor has directly taken over all the Volunteer Fire Companies and the EMS Services. They have us on the path toward a Paid Fire Service and EMS Units. This will involve another, NEW, Tax to be placed on the Residents of PT. The Mayor has just filed Suit against the Fire Companies and EMS Services in an attempt to seize their Properties. We have had a Tax Increase almost every year for the last 8 years. Pemberton Township Residents Please Do Mot Give Up! Please do some research and find out what is happening to us. We can correct it and make Pemberton Township the Jewel of South Jersey. Look at the Beautiful Scenery we have here. We also have some great people and talent. We are less than 12 Months away from our next election. 2 Council Seats and the Mayor's Office are up. We need to clean PT up and attempt to bring in new business and another Grocery Store. This will create entry level positions, something working age young adults can use. Here is a great site on Facebook if you want to know what the people of PT are talking about. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1800764820584...

My father was station at McGuire AFB 1964-1967. We lived in a sub division called blue berry manor @ 107 June Rd. I went to school at Newcomb Jr. High School and Pemberton High. Our family lived there for about 3 yrs, made a lot of friends. Remember the great food at Sorintos, Rosies little candy store with the pinball machine, The Pig & Whistle,B.A.B. Catalinos, and Fat Daddy. think he was the Mayor, Fire Chief and Justice of the Peace. Wouldn't take nothing for those days.

GEORGE, the houses are board up because they are in forcloseure,, people can't sell there homes, so they just let them go, crime is terrible in this town. i am selling in a few months myself. been here for 4 yrs now, i hate it, the town does nothing as far as complants (code enforcement) against neighbors., trash you have to pay for, sometimes they never show. you never see police, and when you need them. it takes forever.i thourght this would be where i retire too. but found out the hard way it is bad here. decapatated cats, break ins. shootings.all the time, land lords rent homes and never come check on there renters. it is such a bad area, if i was you, go some where else. go hook up with brownsmills sites on facebook. wish i new all this before i bought my home. this is a cute little town, but it is not worth it for me. good luck.
