I came home Friday to a mailed letter and notice of code enforcement violation. Apparently 5 years ago when we resided the house and didnt put numbers back up we became in violation. The second violation was for failure to maintain lawn. Im not sure where he was looking but the lawn both back and front were just cut on Sunday the 20th and the violation was dated Wednesday the 23rd. Interestingly enough two years ago we had a front porch put on our house with a permit that had to be inspected by code enforcement. There was no mention of the number problem at that time. Im also a little curious how the inspector was here on Wednesday and the letter didnt to us until Friday before a long weekend. We have unil the 31st to fix these violations. I cant even find out what the requirements for this number issue are until Tuesday the 29th. This will require my husband or myself to lose time from work to get in compliance. I wonder, did anyone else get notices in Country Lakes? Or were we singled out? As I read the list of possible violations the whole neighborhood could be in violation for one reason or another. Will fines be imposed if I cannot comply by the reinspection date? Is this Pemberton townships way of raising funds or perhaps someone is trying to justify their job that they obviously havent had to do for the last five years that there have been no numbers on our house? By the way we do have numbers displayed on our lawn in the form of an aluminated plaque as does a few other houses in the neighborhood. Of course I wont be able to get any answers for 4 more days. I will not let this go.

My girlfriend who lives in the "old" T&M homes area also got violations regarding her grass that had been recently cut...I just hope they start violating people that insist on putting their kids toys and crap in their front yard...oh...and their throw away furniture! ugh....

Does anyone know if reporting online violators through Code Enforcement web page actually work?

I was stationed at McGuire during the late 80's and early 90's. I don't now but most states have similar codes. I am very familiar with CL. When the code dude came out to look over your porch he was only inspecting the porch. I know it's seems dumb but that's how they work. He wasn't there to look at you house numbers. Although a good inspector should have pointed out that you needed a house number but unfortunately he doesn't have to. He was only there to inspect the porch. As far as house numbers go they usually only have a requirement as to a minimum size so they can be easily seen from the road. They may have a rule on location placement as well. I think code enforcement inspectors (with certain exceptions) are a joke. As far as your lawn goes, there's alway a max height but three things may be in play here. 1) The inspector may have been under the gun to come out of there with some sort of violation. If he couldn't find anything major he just went with the lawn. 2) He may have spotted an area of grass missed by trimming. If even a few clumps of grass are over the max height he's got you. 3) A disgruntled neighbor may have dropped a dime on you and the inspector felt he had to do something. Like I said, they are usually a joke.

yes it works, but they will tell you neighbor who made the complaint. they did with me. which i really didn't care. code enforcement will not do anything. they will not follow up on your complaint. they are work together in this town. go over there heads and complain to the health dept. i am doing it. it has be 6 months and they never came bad to see, if the dirt bag cleaned his property yet, he is a rente. take pictures. it helps. go to health dept with them. maybe someone will help. clean up this town. makes me sick... good luck.
