The Vatican should be questioning these drastic church and school closures which are the most severe in the whole united states.

Ms. Hassler's letter to the editor of the Today's Sunbeam is right. "The Camden Diocese should be ashamed of themselves."

"Bishop Galante" is the main problem in our diocese.....not me.

For those who keep bad mouthing me in Salem County: I have worked many years. Not too long ago, I was working two jobs for the Swedesboro police department police secretary and crossing guard and the farm. And prior to that i worked for the State of NJ until I was laid off. etc, etc. I have also worked for the private sector too.

Now, It is just the farm and my husband. Also,in the past I was an elected official from Camden County who won both of my primaries. I don't going around bragging about my past accomplishments. I admit that i am not the most diplomatic person. However, I do know what I am talking about. Give the Galante the attitude; not me.

The trouble is that the Camden diocese is operated like Enron.(Actually, worse with sexual abuse...)

We are all sick and tired of the corruption of our governments, corporations and yes our religious leaders. How sad it is to read that rabbi's were involved in money laundering. It makes me think of Galante and his ties to Rafaello Follieri a con man who went to jail for fraud, money laundering charges involving Catholic real estate.

A Deal With the Devil by Jeane MacIntosh and Kati Cornell July 15, 2008:

A New Jersey bishop who spent 5 years in Rome under John Paul II sold his beach house to Raffaello Follieri last year, even as the accused con man's alleged scheme to steal millions of dollars from investors began to unravel.

A deal with devil continued: Bishop Joseph Galante, a former undersecretary at the vatic and current head of the Camden Diocese, pocketed $400,000 for his four-bedroom townhouse in North wild, NJ in the sale to Follieri in February 2007, The post has learned.

Last week, the property changed hands again, as the now jailed Follieri, scrambling to raise 21 million dollars necessary to free him on bail on federal fraud and money laundering charges, resold the house for an unknown sum.

But Galante and Follieri had more in common than a beach getaway: Both were keenly interested in the sale of church property. Follieri is accused of exaggerating his ties to the Vatican in a scheme to fool investors into thinking he had first dibs on buying shuttered properties.

The feds claim Follieri went so far as to pay 2 monsignors to accompanying him on business trips and used ill-gotten gains to fuel a jet-set lifestyle and lavish gifts on his then girlfriend , actress Ann hathaway.

Meanwhile Galante has actively pushed a controversial plan to close half the churches and schools in the Camden Diocese since his arrival in 2004 and personally introduced Follieri to several parish priests, sources said.

Galante also controls the ATlantic City parish where one of the two priests referred to in the criminal complaint against Follieri, Monsignor William Hodge , is based.

Spokesman andrew Walton said Galante initially met with Folliieri at the encouragement of the Vatican and had no idea he was dealing with a con man until 2 months after he finalized the sale of his beach house.

Walton said the diocese 'got phone call from an office of the Vatican through the bishop's office and we were asked to be open to dealing with the Follieri Group. We and other dioceses were encouraged to use Follieri where we could."

He added that parishes own their own properties and any sale would benefit them, not the diocese.

"We were certainly open to hearing from Mr. Follieri. We were led to believe the group was legitimate, "Walton said, adding that the diocese learned of Follieri's legal woes in May 2007 when he was sued by his former business partner, billionair Ron Burkle. The federal complaint unsealed aqt the time of Follieri's arrest June 24 closely mirrors the Burkle lawsuit which accuses Follieri of using money from their joint venture to pay for personal extravagances. Does the Camden Diocese enjoy the new mansion with wetbar in Pittsgrove???

What is such the rush to close Woodstown and Elmer? The open day Mass should be after the Bishop responds to the many, many letters of greivance towards the merger to Gloucester County.
By the way, there is no reason why Elmer is closing either 400 people is a good size compared to other denominations and rural churches in Salem County. There is nothing wrong with a small congregation. Other churches with 100 people are surving. My new orthodox catholic Church in Paulsboro NJ has about 100 people and growing and we are doing fine money wise.
Also, it is mentioned in the decree about Cumberland County. They must have us confused with st mary's in Malaga. St. Ann's and St. Joes and even mullica hill is a good distance from cumberland county. It goes to show you that this merger isn't right.

The camden Diocese should be ashamed of themselves greed, sin, pride, vanity etc. While many people are struggling with the loss of jobs and the responsiblity of family and keeping their home and food on table, these bums are stealing from people and living like hollywood movie stars going to fancy restaurants like the Mansion in Voorhees instead of going to DC and march with their flock.

Many people gave money to new parish center which isn't mentioned in decree (it states it becomes property of parish in Mullica HILl). WE gave the money to St. Joseph's RC Churh in Woodstown, Nj
It is fraud to not return our donations.

That's OK because groups like Team Jesus in Sicklerville and local Tea Party groups are now investigating corruption of local politicians and religious leaders. People are tired of the stealing, lies, scandals, sin, crimes, sexual abuse and scandals, etc.
