Back in 2001, after the signing into law of the No Child Left Behind Act, a preliminary study began on teacher crimes against students as a part of that act's research. In the preliminary report it was found that 1 in 10 students in America have been sexually abused by their teachers. That's right! One out of ten!
The report was buried and burned. That's one of the problems with the Secretary of Education being a Cabinet post. The moral content of education should not be subject to the machinations of politics. It's also another reason to eschew the so-called "national standards" or "national curriculum." The federal government has no business in schooling in America, legally or otherwise.
