Thinking about moving to Ellicott City, MD

My family and I are wanting to move out of WV and are looking at different areas.
WV is beautiful but there is nothing here for anyone, much less children. The amount of drugs is astronomical, that is all we hear about on the news. Too many children get into pills and drugs in high school and die far too young. I don't want my children to grow up around it.
How is Ellicott City? I've got my children researching places to move to and my daughter became enchanted with this city. How are the employment rates? Are people happy living here? In WV, most people say that they can't wait to get out of here and sadly, I am starting to agree.
I'm just trying to find out personal opinions, ones you can't find by searching on google. Any help would be appreciated!

I lived a few miles from EC for a while. Wasn't too bad. The old historic section is quaint but how many times can you do that? Don't know that EC itself has much to offer in terms of employment. You'd likely be commuting to Baltimore or DC. Have you considered Westminster, Manchester, Finksburg or Taneytown? Don't forget, you'll be living in Maryland, which means higher taxes and an entrenched liberal establishment, not to mention the unbelievable crime in Baltimore City.

We're moving to ellicott city this June. Ellicott city has the better schools and safety aspect. It's also very centrally located to everywhere. It may be higher taxes but there's a good reason :))). Goodluck with your choice!
