An Illinois man accused of drunken driving in a 2008 snowmobile crash that killed a Chicago TV journalist has been sentenced to three years probation and 100 hours of community service.

He got off EXTREMELY lite considering he killed someone.

I think his conscience is probably a bigger punishment than probation. I just hope he has learned from this.

I think its time for Vilas County to get serious about drunk driving. Maybe I will contact MADD.

Look at it this way, at least they did something. On the other hand, if he wasn't from IL and a Wi. resident, they wouldn't have even arrested him. I guess they must have taken a break from harassing other IL tourists

They are serious, as long as you're from out of town.

That's just nuts. We have known drunks here in town that cause the same drama trouble over and over again. Consequences should apply to anyone breaking the law.

Thats the way it is up North. The rules and laws only apply to certain people. Others, whether it's drunk driving, stealing, or plain old consumer fraud, are allowed to do whatever they want with the help of judges, town boards, sheriff's dept. etc. When you try to do something about it, no one will listen. At least thats been my experience.

I think you should contact MADD. It would be interesting to see if even they could accomplish anything up here among all the corruption.
