Just curious to see if anyone knows how the high school varsity football team looks for this upcoming season. I hear that there are a lot of juniors that are doing well.

Thoughts?

They're doing fairly well this year, although of course they need extra practice. But so far, so good. Marching band/colour guard is doing excellent too.

I'm following the freshman this year (because of my son) and it's really nice to see what they're doing.

Looks like the team's smaller, about 30-35 kids, I suppose because of 5a. Perhaps each kid will get more playing time. The staff already has the linemen learning about trap blocking - way cool.

Also, I heard they moved some of the frosh up to the sophomore team for added speed.

Finally, another treat is seeing Mr. Boudouris as the director. I remember Mr. Cimo(sp?). All class acts.

I was at the scrimmage for Varsity last week. They did look good. Still a ways to go, but it was nice seeing different players stepping up. Will be interesting to see how the season goes.

There is always moving up from one team to the other. Last season I know that they took one of the better Sophomore players and move him up to Varsity after 4 games. Though it was a good experience for the player it did damage to the sophomores. He was one that not only led the team well but kept them pumped up.

I too love seeing Mr. Boudouris. He is awesome and really loves the kids.

RHS has the better looking turf. Like the Blue and Orange much more than the black and red up north.

With the new 2.0 gpa to play, RHS should have a better team than our northern neighbors.

Casimir mentioned that the band is doing excellent this year and I just wanted to add to that. I live right behind RHS and the band is AWESOME!! The kids practice so much and seem so dedicated. Our children are very young, but hearing the band by our house and seeing the instruments as we drive by has really inspired them to play instruments. Great job RHS band!!!

I was at the scrimmage, too. I don't know who was QBing, but I liked seeing some nice 40+ yard bombs. Looks like if they get their timing down, they'll be dangerous. What they lack in size, looks like they'll make up for in speed.

@Concerned, glad you mentioned the band. I have a daughter participating as well. I think they need more recognition, not only the kids, but especially the staff and volunteers. Mr. A, etc. they're really doing well this year.

Boy, that comment was optimistic.

I think that this year will be a good year, at least from what I have seen.

Depends on which team's scrimmage you were at. If you were at the Varsity team scrimmage, Gillis started then it was Rooks (hope I spelled that right) who did the 2nd half.

Keep in mind that the coaches had word that Hinsdale South (who they play in the first game on Saturday) was scouting the scrimmage. With that said, they did not want the boys to go all out. In fact, subbed a lot of the starters with the second string boys.

He took another position in Morton's school district-as something like exectutive director for HR. I for one will miss seeing him. He really cared.....

I've heard that none of the VV schools had test scores to cheer about including BHS. Does this mean that others should be preparing their resumes, maybe even the superintendent?
Were to lay the blame is the question; the administration, the teachers, the students, the families, the community, the Board of Education...? Regardless of whose to blame the students who do not maintain minimum standards are the losers, both now and in the future. As a result we all lose.

Just couldn't make it tonight, how'd the teams do? Is it true that RHS was up 46-0? Hey @celebrating mediocrity, that doesn't too shabby, eh? <grin>

Yep, very good game. They actually won 46-0. Miller, Griffin, Ford, and Young all had touchdowns.
