I could understand if the young man was sent home due to long hair being a safety issue, as I work in an environment where safety comes first. But guess what, women and girls have long hair also, how do they abide with the safety(if so) issue. Tie backs?? Then why wasn't this young man given the same opportunity. Admit it or not, "race" is most likely a contributing factor , admitted or not. I hope God, record this in his book, and judgement day, all is revealed.

It's quite simple. The main objective is to project a professional appearance. Most companies have certain grooming and appearance standards. If you do not want to adhere to the policy, feel free to look for employment elsewhere.
My company does not allow earrings on men. I leave mine out.
They don't allow long hair on men. I don't have long hair.
I choose to look and act like an adult.
Why pull the race card? Grow up.

If he really wants the job it seems a simple process to get his hair cut.
though, I am not at all sure why any self respecing individual would wish to work at that place.

It's a privledge to have a job, not a god given right. Shape up or ship out, you could always join the military, there very forgiving on how you look.

Play the race card that just makes people look great. The washington DC area is the worse area in the country to live. been there and could not stand it, to many people playing the race card there.

by telling someone they can't have cornrows, you are asking them to deny a part of their culture or background. if I told all the blondes in the park they couldn't crimp their hair because it looked unprofessional, i would be the one to get fired. i think the ignorance on six flags part is to blame for this.

this is not about cornrows. this is about the length of ones hair.
and most places have a dress code put in place that dictates how the employees will present themselves to the public.

the next question I have is this.
Have you ever been to the establishment in question?
and do you have any idea of what the general attitude of the employees and the patrons are at this place.

You all need to loosen up.

Nothing wrong with cornrows or long hair. Remember though buddy, you're not the only one whos affected. Little pipe-bomp toting marylin manson listening johnnie smith has to cut his dyed black greasy mop too. Same goes for the suburban homo-thug eminem wannabes.

Rules ARE rules though.

And youknowit, sounds like you have a secret fetish for the thug life. Are you secretly a suburban caucasian trying live the thug life? lol.

The long hair problem at sixflags has gone to far haveing long hair does not make a guy look unprofessional in any way at all. as long as it is neat and not a mess then it shouldent be a problem. plus the higher mangment that works at the park dont even follow there own rules. so how can someone enforce somthing that they dont even follow themselves?

I agree with this.

It's not a racial issue, it's one of conforming to standards and image.

Think of a flat chested unattractive woman applying for a job at Hooters as a waitress? Would she be hired?

Would'nt it be better to argue against unfair hiring practices that are obviously sexist than worry about haircuts and style?

It's image that is part of marketing, and an employee is often hired because they can attract business rather than scare it away.

It may not seem fair, but think about it objectively.

This country ain't free if men can't have long hair. Jefferson had long hair, Washington had long hair. Forcing men to cut their hair or they die in the streets is a disgusting attitude. If I become boss, I'm going to force my employees to have long hair, whether they want it or not.

Men and woman that hate on people from different cultures are either in fear or secrelt have an affinity for them. yes I may have spelled that wrong but you get the point. You scared or you want to be like them or like them. I was very dissapointed that the Md sniper was a black man. I just knew he was white because ALL the other serial killers are white. That didnt not create a hatred of black people. I never had a hatred of white people. Im not going to categorize a race of people based on a few. That is ignorant. For some, as I have read, ignorance is trully bliss. Racial slurs on the internet gets you nowhere but tops in your mind in front of your computer screen.

you can always go live somewhere else...this country is free if you can make the decision to hire how you like, not how the Gov't tells you too. A job is a privilege. if you took a democratic vote, i bet most would not like to see nappy headed hair, or cornrows whatever you call it.

If you're a typical Taurean you value both your emotional and physical security, and often tend to restrict your actions accordingly. But during the coming month you'll need to spread your wings more widely than usual, whether through mental or physical pursuits.
