Good day, I am new to this forum as well as speaking out against anything but could not let this article I read in Ft Thomas recorder go unpunished. Pete Garrett, I do not know you or any platform you stand on other than your comments regarding joining sanitation district 1, I am by no means anyone interested or give a damn about political issues but you have attached your wagon to the biggest loser in N KY.SD1 is planning to raise rates at incomprehensible levels, something like 25% every year until 2014, they give the citizen nothing for these increases but bullshit about stormwater issues that every individual city in this 3 county area pays for themselves thru property taxes, this is double taxation with the very worst in representation in Jeff Eger and SD1. If you can find anyone who has ever been treated fairly and with respect by SD1 you let me know and this includes ANYONE with the State of Ky or ANY of the cities located within the 3 county area. SD1 corruption, ignorance, and just plain arrogance goes all the way up and then trickles down. Good luck with your campaign Pete Garrett, my vote is for Dave Otto

Here-ye Here-ye....finally! Someone else that sees what I have been preaching for months on end. How in the hell, can it be justified that we are being charged for a "water-run-off system" THAT DOES NOT EXIST!!!! The storm-water run off goes from the top of the ground and into the soil or across the road and into a ditch that has no storm drain in it! Come take pictures! See for yourself! When the heavy rains come, the "storm-run-off collects in our back yards!!! BUT WE ARE PAYING FOR A SYSTEM THAT IS NOT HERE??? B/S!!!

My sanitation bill says I asked for a monthly bill and a 100% increase for MY convience instead of the old quarterly and reasonable charge. I dont remember being asked, does anybody else?

Check this out: I got a bill for over 3,ooo dollars. I noticed the "service address" on the bill and it wasn't my property. I called the water company (after they were rude) we discovered the property to be LaFarge!!!! How in the hell, did they screw that account up to put my name on it???? They fixed the problem, again, after being shitty to me over it. I didn't have anything to do with changing the name on the bill!

Today I contacted SD1 regarding the rate increase, and this is what I was told. Beginning this month my bill was based on the highest months usage between last Nov and March. I said ok, so I get billed the next 12 months for my highest month of last winter (YES). Then next year it will be based on my highest months usage from Oct to March (YES). This is going to continue for the next 5 years with a 15% rate increase each year for the next 5 years. Now last winter I invited some of my family to spend the thanksgiving holiday at our house. Lots of cooking and some stayed for the weekend, so lots of water usage. Thats where they got me. Now I am being punished for opening my home to family and friends. Now going forward over the next 5 years this is what I can look forward to. My bill is based on 4 NET ERU's @$4.40 per ERU = 17.60+4.47 (storm water)=$22.07/mo. Next year it gets better ERU's wil be $5.06 ea. 2011 ERU $5.82, 2012 ERU $6.69, 2013 ERU $7.69, and 2014 ERU $8.84. Now that will put my current bil at $39.83/mo. My last months bill was $15.38 and my water bill was $16.53. Soon the water company is going to fiqure this out and those rates are going up. Why do we let this happen to us?????

Well that does help. In fact it is good for me. We were at our Florida home from Oct. to May.

So ours should be pretty low.

Still stinks though.
